Omg today I took the teas test and it’s very similar to the question you got here, but unfortunately I failed the test because of this portion!!!! I didn’t understand the scientific method well enough to decide which is the independent or dependent variable. But mostly of all I think the timing makes me nervous too, so that’s why I couldn’t concentrate on the test well. 😢😢😢😢

I am so sorry to hear that you failed your ATI TEAS test. Never give up Stacy Song! You were so close. I recently wrote about independent vs dependent variables in my new version 7 ATI TEAS Study Guide. I highly recommend checking the out for more information: nursecheung.com/ati-teas-science-scientific-reasoning/. Just to help clarify your question and hopefully help further understanding. The independent variable is the variable that is being manipulated and the dependent variable is what is being measured. For example, if you conduct an experiment on how sugary drinks affect obesity. Your independent variable is the sugary drinks (what is being manipulated) and the dependent variable is obesity (what is being measured). I hope that helps ☺️💜

Hi, Cheung , I am still confused about the dependent variables, independent variable , control group, and inductive reasoning. Would you minding telling more .
@NurseCheung
@NurseCheung Год назад
Hello! I'd be happy to help clarify those concepts for you. Independent variable: This is the variable that is manipulated or changed by the researcher in an experiment. It is called independent because it does not depend on any other factors or variables. Dependent variable: This is the variable that is measured or observed in an experiment. It is called dependent because it is dependent on the independent variable and may change as a result of the independent variable. Control group: In an experiment, the control group is a group that is used as a comparison to the group that is being tested. The control group is treated the same as the experimental group except that it does not receive the treatment or independent variable being tested. Inductive reasoning: This is a type of reasoning that involves making generalizations based on specific observations or examples. It involves using specific examples to form a conclusion or generalization that may be applicable to a larger group or situation. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
