Ocean Crossing Series Finale - Final Flight Legs from Greenland to Canada.
The biggest General Aviation flight I’ve ever flown! Austria to Canada.
Proudly associated with ForeFlight: www.foreflight.com/flightchops
In this multi-part series, the largest #generalaviation project in FlightChops history, ride along with us as we team up with the Diamond Aircraft ferry crew and act as pilot #flying on delivery of a new DA62 light twin aircraft from Vienna, Austria to Diamond Aircraft’s Canadian base in London, Ontario Canada.
In this sixth and final episode of the series, we’re again packed into the survival suits in the DA62 #oceancrossing from Greenland to Canada on our final legs of the DA62 delivery.

If you’d like to fly along in MSFS 2020, the flight plans for all the legs are available on this free/unlocked Patreon post, that anyone can access! (even without a Patreon account).
Just please do consider becoming a supporter if you enjoy the content! You’ll get access to lots of additional exclusive content as well :-)

ForeFlight was along for the entire journey providing all our charts and flight planning tools. Their international capabilities are a must have for any pilot, let alone those flying through six countries in one day.
During my DA62 familiarization flight at Diamond Aircraft’s base in London, Ontario prior to departing for Austria, I tested the Bose ProFlight in-ear headset; I already knew it was comfortable, but I wanted to see how the active noise canceling held up, and it was impressive - I am not surprised it is what Micke wears exclusively when flying Diamond Twins (which are admittedly quieter than most regular piston powered aircraft).
Huge thanks to all the Supporters on Patreon!

FLIGHT CHOPS DISCLAIMER:
I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.

Dude... cinematographically, this episode has to be the pinnacle of FlightChops (so far). Incredible captures... the airport approaches, the clouds, discussing icing with frost on the windows, Micke's split screen flight planning and his thrilling enthusiasm... you captured the orchestration of this experience perfectly. I so look forward to losing track of time and space... and speaking of which, my airplane is ready to fly and my airworthiness inspection is in less than a week. We need to discuss first flight. Here is a ferry flight story for you. You are in the first Seneca headed for Europe on the last long over water leg, and the landing gear extend but you didn't touch the switch. Something failed in the auto-extend system and there is no way to keep them up unless you hold the override lever up with your right hand. A quick calculation shows the increased drag this far out will leave you a few gallons short of a feet dry landing. What do you do? The pilot on that flight found some way to jam the lever in the up position with something he had in the cockpit. Shortly after arriving he contacted Piper and urged them to install a pin of some kind to keep the lever up in case of a failed diaphragm or other plumbing problem to the probe on the outside of the fuselage.

8:34 The old saying goes, Good judgement comes from experience and experience comes from poor judgement. Always learn, and don't think you know it all. I have done a few crossings on yachts on both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans at the blazing speed of 8.5 knots. You have a lot of the same and similar issues in flying as well. Because it takes so long to cross at 8 knots, you really have to have good weather planner teams on your side as well, you have weeks between potential stopping points, not hours. Although you do have beds, showers, bathrooms, kitchens, TV, surfing the web among other things to do to pass the time. Great series, I would like to a ferry flight as well some day. Keep up the good work sir! 👍
