I have a shapeshifter. I'm contemplating either the belgrad or the morgasmatron as a filter to pair it with. Would you say there's a benefit to a dual filter like the morgasmatron over the belgrad? I really like the span concept on the belgrad, but the morg really seems like way more possibilities per dollar and HP. What do you think?
Well a dual filter will give you the benefit of adding a second oscillator later and having two independent signal paths. For the Shapeshifter, I only really used the main out so it wouldn't immediately impact my workflow to have two inputs, but if I was using other oscillators, the second input is really useful. These are two different filters though. Belgrad gets you into much weirder territory and has a great harmonic quality while the Morgasmatron is very overdrive/distortion influenced and lends itself well to acid-style basslines.
I'm between a Belgrad and a VCF 74 for the Shapeshifter, but use would mostly be for pads. Belgrad can go many places, tending towards VCF 74 tho cause of it's vintage character as opposed to a basically modern sound. Have to decide soon, got other examples of the SS thru Belgrad?
someone that has some beat sensibility to their ideas, wow. the main melody sound is still kind of droll dull mouth noise boring guy sound though it'll never catch on because it'll remind all the preps and happies that there is this monodull guys voice in the background.
