It's not uncommon to find these classic Atlas Rigs - 210X, 215X, 350XL, 180, etc...with the final modules dead....for want of the driver and final transistors.
I purchased this rig as a 'parts-rig', and I've covered the repairs in other videos.
Essentially, a new regulator 7809 was used in place of the original (dead) 78L06 and a 3V Zener. Also, the audio IC - LM380 (14-pin) was dead. I decided to use the 8-pin version of that IC. The tuning dial was broken, and that's fixed with a 2-part epoxy.
This video shows the new 45W linear amp kit I got from China - using a pair of IRF530 in push-pull - with a 2SC1971 driver, and a 2SC3357 pre-driver. It's a bit difficult to tame this amp, and I've made a few changes to the Driver, all 3 transformers, a few resistor values, and the Bias temperature regulation Diode (placement).
Now my Atlas 210X is back on the air!
Thanks for tuning in.
