surge 1 was good but clunky and some quest for the platinum bugged for me, surge 2 is a nice upgrade and not many bugs but i dont recomend it at full price, il try this game once i see a 25 ro 30 discount.

I had a massive issue with enemies despawning and I didn't notice you mention that. There's a ring around every enemy encounter where they'll despawn and teleport back to where they started at full health. With some of the enemies that do giant leaps backwards, I actually had some yeet themselves past that point forcing me to fight them again or run away. That ended up being incredibly annoying.

Thanks for the review! I enjoyed The Surge and The Surge 2, so I'm immediately interested. After watching, it seems to fall into the Outriders level of story/dialogue, but with some fun exploration and great combat. I'll probably wait to pick this up due to my current backlog, but definitely adding this one to my wishlist to get down the road!

Outriders dialogue is waaay better written & delivered than this. The story premise was not that innovative (cos at least the initial part of it is very likely to happen in reality) but the script was well delivered. This stuff sounds phoned in. And tbh that's the director's fault: it's their job to ensure the script is of a quality that doesn't cause narcolepsy in the voice actors or audience.

I don’t like how enemies scales to your level , so it makes it harder to level up stuff. Also it’s annoying enemies don’t always drop scrape. I’ll come back once they release the dlc . I beat the game once

Had the kind of horrible commute on Friday night that could only be alleviated by buying a game while sitting in traffic. Got this for Series X and you were completely right about it. A gem in the rough. But worth supporting. New IP, Deck 13 trying something different, no Unreal engine. So far it's pretty good. Sometimes looks great, others more pop in than a Hair Cuttery. But still worth getting. Thanks again.

I feel sorry for the devs. They are a good AA studio, but they got the worst release date to release a game. I mean, they release between Baldur's gate 3 and Starfield. Heck and Armored Core gets released in a few weeks as well, or the Cyberpunk Expansion, just so many big titles coming out that I fear a game like this, even though it might be a good game, will not get the same attention due to people putting their money towards other games right now.

I love these Devs , they put passion in their work with a very limited budget. The games are not game of the year material but their fun. ll probably get it later in the year or beginning next year due to Armored core 6 and other games coming out. Back in the day when i just grabbed stuff based on what was on the back of the case, I'd probably have liked this. but now that my time is limited, my money more important, and reviews a plenty, i pass on 90% of games. If I dont think I'm going to absolutely love a game ("i had fun" isnt enough anymore), i dont bother anymore.

Question Regarding this review. Im wondering with the the issues that you did have if the the review copy that you got is pre or post day 1 patch? If pre patch Is it not possible or even likely that some if not most of these issues will he addressed with said patch? I always say enjoy what you want, but can you elaborate why a "mediocre" game would be perfect for a casual gamer? You can pretty much play most games casually these days, so I'd still stick to the ones that are actually, well, good, instead of just mediocre.

Been playing it, the only thing I can't get over is the voices. I don't want to say it's a purely voice acting issue because it might be a voice direction issue. Either way, for me one of the flattest and tonally odd voice acting in a modern game. Sand surfing will always be rad though.

This game looks really interesting, but even in watching gameplay I dont know how I feel about it. It has a lot of cool mechanics that are such an impressive step up from the surge 2 so it may be worth a shot. It's graphics, movement, and combat are all so unique and look beautiful really shows the work and care they put into this game.

Sounds pretty fun and thanks to ACG for putting this one on my radar. I think for me, it'll be a wait for sale, especially with BG3 taking up a ton of my time and more games like Spiderman 2 still on the horizon, but this seems like a good one to keep in my in the opening months of 2024 when release schedules slow down.

Huge fan of The Surge games, so I am definitely going to try and get my hands on this at some point. Between Remnant, Diablo IV ,and Armored Core VI coming in two weeks, I may have to wait for a sale. I'll probably have to decide between this and Lords of the Fallen when it comes out. If this was an Xbox 360 era game and was the way it is but had graphics appropriate for that era, it would have a big hit I bet. I think the Ho hum reviews is a result of the game being a little outdated rather than because of it being lower quality.

Its a great looking game but not tickled personally. He shouldve had a snow board/ stroke melee weapon and the enemy shouldve been way more grounded but that's just me.

I'm going to say that: the game should be pushed back to November/December. There is no way in hell it will get a fracture of attention it deserves when everyone and their mother talks (rightfully so) about Baldur's Gate III.

Those months would have been very busy. I think the release timing is fine with it since BG3 is only on pc at the moment and will only be on one of the 5 active console ecosystems at the moment next month.

Great review, as always! I love so many of the concepts going on here, so I'm very curious about this one. It's in a window of releases that I probably wouldn't want to be in as a dev, but what can you do? I hope people have the time/money to pick this up, but even for myself I'm not sure when I might get to this because of that. It definitely jumped up higher on my list, so thanks!

Great video! But even $50 isn’t reasonable for a meh game right now. Way too many really solid titles out or coming out that are worth my time and money. For me, this is wait 2-3yrs for a steam summer sale if nothing else is out then. Thanks again for all your hard work and hope you have a great week!
