We used the exact atm today (21st January). No fees for us. What you have to do is, do not use their conversion. That means reject their offer to charge the credit card with the amount of you home country‘s currency (for us €). Select „no“ and let them charge you the amount in VND.

I always use this bank whenever i find it abroad, they never take fee. It's truly amazing. I think it's a Hong Kong bank because it was everwhere in HK. I used it also in Egypt zero fee.

For those using Revolut, I used this exact machine on December 2023 after watching this video, and there were no charges at all. I withdrew 10 million VND without any problem. A message appeared on the screen informing me that my bank might charge me, but revolut did not add anything (as expected) 😉

I had to pay a fee of 50,000 using this machine (February 1). I have a Dutch bank and these are the costs the machine charged, not my bank. Checked again yesterday and now the fee was even higher (100,000). Luckily I could still cancel the transaction. The machine to the left of it didn't charge me anything, so it's sometimes good to try multiple ones!

May I ask if you have a Visa or Master card?

@David.Robinowich The first time I went there it was a Mastercard. Second time was Maestro, so a debit card instead of a credit one

Update for you: I've been at the airport today and withdrawed from the HSBC machine that mentioned in this video 3 million VND($123) which is currently the maximum that you can withdraw per one withdrawal at that specific machine. I used Visa credit card from my home country which is not belong to HSBC and NO FEE exactly as I mentioned in this video

@3eyedmaggott Sorry to hear, but the information is 100% truth. The HSBC in Tan son nhat airport and in most parts of Vietnam doesn't take fee, but some machines of HSBC will charge fee and I'm warning this in another video: ru-vid.comADNoySoLBKA?si=ovkAxl3cJ7V5R9GM Second option is that with Starling card which is a unique card and not the regular one that most people use, HSBC will take fee. Most of people don't use the starling card and of course I'm talking about the regular international card that most of Travellers use

Shouldn't have fee, but don't worry, in case there is a fee the ATM machine will warn you and mention how much fee it takes and then you have the option to cancel and try another machine

@David.Robinowich
@David.Robinowich 10 месяцев назад
Difficult to say, it's all about the same. My advice to you is if you exchange your money useally Gold shop in Vietnam have the best rate. You can go also to any branch of bank and exchange your money

@@David.Robinowich I tried today, the HSBC machine wanted a 5000 fee for a visa debit card (Chase UK). So I took a Grab (paid with card in the app) to district 1 and used the VPBank ATM, no fee and didn't even offer the convert currency scam, highly recommend that one. 1M VND withdrawal appeared in account as £33.50 and the rate in a google is £33.60.

Did you have the ATM convert to USD even you took out the money? ATM will usually charge extra when you ask the machine to display in USD rather than the local currency
@David.Robinowich
@David.Robinowich 8 месяцев назад
HI You can withdraw only the local currency in Vietnam. There isn't a special exchange rate or extra charge for that

@@David.Robinowich The ATMs there pass the fee on to your bank who will turn around and pass it to you. It's actually higher that way since it's after the fact and you don't see that side.

@Marcus_-sy9fi No.you'll pay 0% at the ATM and your bank at home will take the useal percentage of fee.
