I didn’t think I would ever want to try and paint flowers, but you keep showing me how beautiful it is. I love this one, it’s so gentle, so soft, absolutely beautiful. Thank you Karen.
I am interested in gardening with native plants (wildflowers). My goal is to be able to paint realistic flowers, landscapes. Thank you so very much for your tutorials , sharing your knowledge, talent, beautiful creations!
Beautiful Karen! I grew cosmos in my garden for many years. I'm totally new to watercolor. I really appreciate your videos. You teach a lot of great techniques and tips. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
@@stevendavis2122 100 % 300gsm Cotton watercolour paper. Cold pressed is a good surface to start out with. I like Saunders Waterford paper, but there are lots of different brands out there.
This is absolutely beautiful. I love the misty background and the distance you created. One of my very favorite paintings. Thank you for showing how to achieve this look. 💕🌸
Karen, one of the things I love about this video is that it forced me to draw and I can tell you, for someone who hates drawing, tackling those Cosmos flowers is not as easy as it looks. But, I'm so glad I persevered because I got there in the end and had been avoiding this video because of the drawing. I realise that it is all about practicing and believeing you can do it so that is my new mantra. This is a great painting and you take us through it so brilliantly as usual. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your great comment… So pleased that you persevered with the drawing! It really will help your confidence. Well done you! Happy painting :-)
I'm really enjoying these flower paintings. Cornflowers were successful so now this looks good. The background is interesting too, as it's teaching me how to approach a reference photo I took- foreground wild flowers taken crouched down, with a distant hilltop town. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, so glad that you liked the tutorials! I’m so pleased that you are creating your first paintings with my help! Happy painting :-)
You must be a mind reader! I tried a scene like this the other day, and now you have addressed all the things that just weren't working out. Thank you! I'll have another go ☺
I love your art, its breathtaking. I started painting late last year starting with trying loose watercolour flowers in an arrangement then I got bored with that, then I did portraits which I do love but then I found your channel I found your tutorial easy to follow than others on RU-vid so I can turn out work that is really amazing to look at for a beginner. I'm excited for this opportunity to have a bit more information on each work. I hope there will be extended versions of your videos for more of your work. Thank you.
Thank you so much Ribena for your comment so pleased that you like the tutorials and that you find them easy to follow especially for a beginner. If you check out my playlist on my channel page, you will find the membership only videos, there are lots more videos there for you to enjoy and to paint along with! Happy painting :-)
Hello Karen! I have tried this today. And my cosmos turned out really well. I don't have masking fluid now. Though I love my one. Thanks again for the tutorial. Love u.
What a beautiful painting. Thank you so much. You have a lovely soft reassuring voice. Gives me confidence. I've just painted the flowers last night, but this morning now it has dried, I can see that my dark greens are nowhere near dark enough. It's it ok to layer more paint on parts of the painting even though I've painted the flowers? Thank you x
I am so pleased that you liked this tutorial. If you would like to put more darks on. I would just put them in the foreground, as you may be in danger of losing the contrast. Hope this helps.
Absolutely beautiful! First of all I have learned you are a fantastic artist😊and I have really been enjoying your techniques of painting. I am a beginner and I hope I can be half as good as you at some point! 🌷
Hi Karen, so sweet & delicate; I love this painting with the distant misty landscape and overlapping foreground. You are an inspiration and make it look so easy. Anxious to try it ;)
Absolutely beautiful💐 I am very new in watercolour and your videos are very helpful and you are very good teacher💜. I would like to ask about bending my 200 gr watercolour paper when I wetting the paper with water. What can I do? Thank you
It’s beautiful, I’m just a VERY beginner in not only watercolour but also in drawing. I’ve been learning acrylics over step by step tutorials that include tracables. In my new quest on watercolour I was wondering if you could recommend a book on how to paint watercolour flowers?
Thank you so much for your comment Jenny. I would recommend and Blockley is watercolour books, I like her style she is very loose. Hope this was helpful, happy painting, take care :-)
Amazing painting Karen, it’s beautiful ! Your videos inspired me to try painting during lockdown and I did my first ever watercolour this weekend. One question though (hopefully not a stupid one) - do your techniques work just as well with watercolour pans instead of paint from a tube ?
Thank you Ryan, so glad you liked the tutorials especially during lockdown! You can use pans, I would spray them with water an hour before so that you can get as much paint off them as you can. Tubes are great because you can make thicker larger washes. Hope this helps. Happy painting :)
Hi Karen, I'm see that you left some of the white around the tips of the petals. Is that technique used to set them off from the background? Would you ever fill them in to the end of the petal?
Thanks Sherry, so glad you like the tutorial! I always like to paint quite loose, so I wouldn't paint the petals to the end, but it's not to say that if you feel that you want to that's fine also :)
Youre channel came up in my feed... i dont understand I never found you by myself!!! You have a new subby :-D What a lovely paintings you make! Think i can learn a lot from you! What color can i use instead of opera rose? Perhaps a regular rose made of pr122?
