I definitely like the voice actor for the protagonist more in the Russian dub, he has a grit in his voice that matches the skeptical and sardonic dialogue better than the American actor, who sounds more like a flippant undergrad than an unsophisticated army officer.
its not even on a series x it skips frames then i thought hell ill try it on my 4090 and guess what? runs the same. more than 3 enemies onscreen and hope you like early cod lobby lag. also turning is messed up, like you turn but it takes all your forward momentum away like its the most messed up turning in a game ever
@@darklegionnaire8304 runs great for me and everyone else except you. the performance is a big talking point about this game as its so good especially inside. your a little lost
With Calistos and Protocols and such somewhat stabbing my feeble little heart, the fact that you and GmanLives seem to have a more of less positive outlook on the game is definitely a piece of good news!
@@Andriej69 I do not quite follow, who this Shillman is, but I wouldn't necessarily jump straight into "they paid someone off" territory for now, before giving Blyatomic Heart a whirl myself. .
Psa. Turn off voice dialog for a more immersive experience. (I turn it back on for cut scenes.) The first person that can mod out the hamburger helper glove wins modder of the year.
Based on a few reviews with English voice over, and your. I have to say that p3 seems to be more tolerable and sounds a bit less like an a-hole in Russian. The things like voice tone, intonation can change how we perceive the character and while he still might be unpleasant person it might be less annoying. Also game have option to put any voice over and any subtitles on consoles. Yeah this should be standard, sadly many console games lock player to console language which is just stupid.
I’m playing it now, if it comes to mini open world (it is small and not very dense) I completed half of the polygons. I find it a decent change of pace move from place to place on the map, but the main quests are within the facility (corridor like style).
Adding to the banter part. I don't wanna be cruel, but whoever overseen the game was in my eyes terrified we would get bored without dialog and would miss enviromental storytelling deets, if they would to swap some dialog with it. There's almost not a moment, for You to soak in the atmosphere which with all that yapping seems stuffy.
@@frozenvoltz6739 Yup, everyone knows gamers are homophobic. That's why rule 34 is full of Gay fanart from countless characters, many of which aren't even canonically gay people in their games. It's just that rampant homophobia from GAYMERS 😂👍.
Fanatic that nearly every reviewer thinks that Mike Gordon made the OST and ignores that most of the tracks arnt done by him, showing of "mike´s OST" with tracks done by Geoffplaysguitar. Quite reveling how well the marketing worked and how little reviewer seem to care, researching the Credits of tracks
While the music is good, it is sadly a bit out of place. Sure it completely changes the tone and hits from nowhere with boss fights or fights inside facilities in certain point of the story on its own nicely done. But I might argue that sometimes it feels out of place or what is even worse starts playing when it should not. Example a part which music starts enemies are attacking fits the fight, fight is over music either cuts or fades way I moved a few steps music start with full impact I look around there is no reason for it to be playing move a few more steps a single enemy which I deal with in quickly music is still playing which confuses the player as it should indicate more enemies but there is not a minute later it cuts. So on this technical level they could have done a bit better job. As for the full game I liked it thought it was good with ok story more or less till the end I did not like the ending(s) which overall reduced the final score for the the as a whole.
Atomic heart got me into learning Russian, so its cool being able to recognize some of the phrases without looking at the subtitles. Their voice lines are delivered alot better than the english ones IMO
@@goldenindustries I turned on Russian for Metro Exodus, but the voice acting (specifically for the dad general) was so bad I switched bad to English. There is a certain gruff macho male voice that is so prevalent in Russian dubbing and I hate it. Glad the acting is good in Atomic Heart.
"Crispy critters", huh... Honestly, I have no idea how to translate the original swear. It's "ёбаные пироги" which literally means "fucking pies". Just a swear without much meaning. From what I've heard in this video - Russian voice over sounds rather bad to me (a Russian), which is sad.
"Nu Pagody" or I guess "...just you wait" (iirc) is an old Soviet cartoon that I still remember and love. And although I only spent a couple of hours with the game (hoping for an RTX update) I made sure to rip the HD episodes from the game files.
I’m very excited to play this tonight! Cant wait to hear the soundtrack as well I never thought I’d see this game come to light since the first couple trailers years ago popped out.
I played a little bit of this the other day. Going to try more today. It seems to me that the developers probably would have liked to go more in the immersive sim direction but probably couldn't quite get there. It's not easy to accommodate that kind of openness and player choice. This game already had a pretty long, tortured development cycle. Many people thought it would just be vaporware, would never come out. I imagine downgrading and simplifying some of the immersive sim style features was necessary, something similar to what ended up happening to Bioshock Infinite. It downgraded to an Fps to finally get out of development hell.
I am russian and in my opinion russian voice acting comes off as over the top in a bad way tbh, borderline cringey. Hehe, bunny on the display of the lock on 17:26 is a Robo-bunny from "Well, Just You Wait!". He used to scare the shit out of kids.
@@bbbbbbb51 We Russians talk in a relaxed manner, and our voice actors tend to "act" instead of just talking naturally in videogames. So that's why it comes as over the top for us. Because it kinda is. I mean it's not over the top exactly, but it's on its way. But it's also probably for censoring reasons, since guys like the protagonist would swear a lot normally, not to mention in their situation. And man, Russian curses are expansive and creative, probably more so that the Russian language proper. So they probably were scraping the barrel for something to replace that style of speech with, while still making the protagonist tough and believable
@@steelbear2063 yeah, you right. VA is not bad per se, just a bit intense for my liking. Funny to see english speaking users complaining about english VA while I perceive zero problems with it from my perspective.
If the devs wanted to leave something out of the game, it should have been Denuvo, not the FOV slider >.> At least there's ways to change the FOV using third-party tools, but Denuvo is a different story.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm desperate for new immersive sim games. If it's even 20 percent of what's shown in the trailers, I'll buy it. Hopefully the balancing and other stuff gets fixed later.
CTRL ALT EGO is out laready and it should be on sale right now This seems much more of an action rpg with some powers like bioshoock, but Peripeteia should be out this year
Under The Mayo is the same guy that complained about Sifu not having an easy mode and then got mad when they added an easy mode and it was *gasp* very easy! And his Ultra Kill videos are a special kind of terrible same with his Trepang video. Forgive me for not giving his opinions much merit.
For real, i remember one very annoying challenge in Dying Light where you had to chop un half 30 zombies under a Time límit and the spining attack was the most viable way to do it. It was really frustrating
Honestly I never take advantage of NG+ in games that have it. I always prefer the progression of abilities, but especially so when a single playthrough isn't enough to unlock everything like in Deus Ex or Sekiro. It makes the run & build take on a life of it's own instead of just having everything at my disposal. To each their own though.
I watched a streaming and my problem is that combat is not that intense as it seems in the trailers and at the beggining u spend like 4 hours of gaming in the SAME PLACE, which rooms looks identical. BUT The Visual and Music are INSANE ♥, the "heavily inspired" on Bioshock is there of course, but somehow they managed to create their own identity around that.
I couldn't tolerate all the banter. It's endless. I ended up muting the dialogue because I just couldn't tolerate it. Especially because it's never funny or entertaining. The upgrade robot is so embarrassing that I physically cringed when I first heard it. Combat and movement felt incredibly sluggish and clunky. All the best parts of the game feel derivative. Yeah, I dunno about this one. I feel like calling it a Russian Bioshock is disingenuous. The two games are nowhere near, in any stretch of the imagination, on the same levels of quality. It's a pretty decent Gamepass title though.
I hated Major P3, more than I hated Ethan, and that's saying A LOT. Like, before I got done doing the prologue tour I was looking for a dialog adjustment option. Very fun game though
finished it. it's like bioshock but with robots and in a sci-fi version of the ussr. very good. they've put a lot of work in making the shooting and gunplay feel great, it's very smooth and satisfying. the puzzles are challenging but not too difficult, and they've fixed most of the bugs that were present on release date. i loved the talking dead people. i found it hilarious and in a few cases they were well incorporated in the game. I wish they'd spent more time on the story however. it's not particularly engaging. we know that the agent p3 and sechenov were supposed to be very close as sechenov saved his life, but the game mostly fumbled this. there were also scenes in the underground where the ussr had been doing experiments on people, and P3 is disgusted by it, but then he just quickly got out. I was expecting something more story wise, but nothing kinda happened, the visuals were there, but the story was missing. The open world also feels hard to explore. like you can't put a marker and follow a path to go from a to b. most of the rooms are also static, there's not a lot of things you can throw around or destory, which is weird because one of the powers you get lets you throw stuff at enemies, but there's nothing to throw.
omg the dialoge is so cringe especially the English voice overs. When a little old lady says "eat shit and die" thats when i turned the game off and refunded. I wanted Russian Bioshock... what i got was Russian Duke Nukem forever
Despite what a lot of reviewers are saying I feel like this is something special. Yes it has its flaws but the world they have brought to life is fantastical and intriguing. Only a little ways in and I can’t wait to have the time to dive back in and see what’s going to happen next. Anyone who is playing take your time with the game and take in all the environmental storytelling. Really hoping for a new game plus option soon.
Will you ever do a full review of the game after you have beaten it? I'm very curious how you feel about it's ending. I also think the game is best played in English first so you don't get lost in the story because a lot of the details would be easy to miss and wind up being quite important, but a second palythroughi n Russian for the vibes of it would be a good way to get the full soviet period vibes.
Absolutely amazing review. Thank you. This to me seems like a mix of Bioshock Infinite and Singularity. Good to know that it runs well on a Gtx 1070. The world building is utterly beautiful and twisted. The hyper sexualized twins and the over the top horny Nora...is just a bit too much. Like BioMutant, if the dev's patch in a reduced banter option....it would do a world of good for this amazing game.
I recently finished the game and I didn't know you could use Russian voices with english subs... The english dub is quite bad I would've love to play the game like this :(
I see comments that it runs terribly on Series X and higher end PC’s….but it runs BEAUTIFULLY on Series S 60fps 1080p. I’m loving it! Certain to be a Cult Classic!
I’m really enjoying the game as well, I switched to the Russian audio dialogue because the line delivery from the protagonist’s actor was borderline intolerable for me. Like… why did they direct him to deliver every line like he was a 14 year old jock who just punched a hole in his parent’s drywall. I do the find the “crispy critters” phrase to be unintentionally hilarious though.
Probably put in about 6 hours and the game is pretty and fun. I will say that I wish the protag and the "glove" would talk less. It's reminding me too much of Forspoken with how the protag constantly shits on the "glove". The slow strafing annoys me from time to time also.
I can't wait for a second game with this because I'm looking at the game or look in the gameplay and yes I'm sorry to say but it does literally just look like BioShock obviously yet it's how can I say that it looks like BioShock one where it's a bit all weird and finicky and brand new but it has detail and atmosphere of infinite haven't played infinite yet I'm still playing BioShock 2 but I've seen what infinite looks like and yeah it's a really dull dystopia and yeah I would want to play a time but obviously right now I'm playing returnal and I need to finish deathloop as well so yeah
I have been waiting for this game since sophomore year of highschool, (im now a sophomore in uni) and I really want to play it, have another game in Russian like metro, but the game is funded by VK, a prominent Russian main news organization with close ties to the kremlin, so if you buy this, I guess you’re funding the Russian propaganda machine? Ion know, I just want to shoot funny Soviet robots
Western Europe is still buying Russian resources, so I think you are fine if you just buy this one game. Also VK is not a news organization at all. It's a social network like Facebook, and Facebook outright spies on people on government's behalf, so I mean I guess funding your country's lies is better than funding my country's lies, but not by much
Well you probably played COD in high school? Did you know that had money from the US Department of Defense? You bought and played it and had no cares in the world about supporting the deaths of Iraqi children. Quite weird you care about this
@@AndRei-yc3ti im not American, but the us doesn’t directly kill Iraqi kids on purpose, it isn’t their prerogative, the Russian government at this moment does, purposely targeting civilians, gomd
@Don Gulio they did though. There are numerous instances of Americans targeting weddings, school busses, etc in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Besides newly released info shows that only 9000 civilians died in Ukraine over a year of war, while the Americans killed more than that per year (on average 12,000). You can google for confirmation of this - youtube doesn't let me post links
I actually really liked the crafting inventory aspect. Played on hardest difficulty and this kept me on my toes and conservatives throughout. The more rare components really feel specialized and being able to dismantle weapons and get the resources back allow for varied options and made getting new blueprints feel very significant. Also feel it justifies the open world and bosses more because of the loot associated
imo the combat feels weightless. constantly hitting enemies who barely even flinch not to mention the constant backtracking to get some key or item just to progress makes this game feel dated and quite frankly a chore to play
its on gamepass and cost 35$ steam, its a eurojank, which are mostly gameplay-focused title story-wise with great world building. im getting the game since id be 2 years more for Judas to be released, and like titles amalgamating from bioshock, it's enough to scratch the itch.
So far 2023 is being better to vidya than all previous years imo, Hogwarts Legacy and Atomic Heart are amazing and definitely the devs loved the project, what's so rare nowadays.
Thank you for not bowing down to Twitter idiots. As much as I root for Ukraine blocking game simply due to Devs nationality is wrong on multiple levels.
@@SimplexPL skipped through this trash article with adblocker to reconfirm myself that game journalism is still one of the most pathetic jobs. "Glorifying soviet union" - game is on development for how long by now, setting wasn't a problem before. Setting is as well over the top af, you may as well say Machine Games glorify third Reich in Wolfenstein remakes. "Peace blah blah" - company is still based in Russia. Russia has rigorous anti-war laws with actual jail time. That they are very careful about what they say is humanely understandable. "B..but muh privacy" - there is no actual confirmation on it on software level. In the meantime check up how much information US or Chinese (basically most Us game Devs by now lol) companies collect from you. Don't say its right, but it's normal state of game dev. Btw, could a Pole like you be less biased?
What bothers me more is other games that are Russian are now instantly bad. Partisans 1941 now biggest flaw is that it is Russian. Men of War as well suddendly is bad (didn't like that one anyway). At least flight community are not bitching about Il-2 Sturmovik game. What's worse is there is small but dedictated community of Sea Dogs game series. While developers on paper are from Russia, team is split between Russians and Ukranians and is currently on hold because of war. So according to Twitter logic who should we blame or cancel? Personally I don't know, but I do know the ultimate losers are developers themselves and us gamers on that front.
@@aleksapetrovic6519 Pathfinder was held as one of the best Rpg games of recent years, guess it's bad too now. Pathologic 2 is one of the most unique art experiences, guess bad too.
