I have been following you since I got my 01 tundra. Last week the driver door would not open. I got that fixed and In the process I broke my speaker. You helped me find the right type. Your a great help, thank you.
Great informative video Sal. I'm still rocking the 12v Bluetooth adapter with the stock head unit. This Atoto looks sweet, might have to finally make the jump. 👍🍻
Yeah man for sure. I think the big thing that sold it for me was taking longer trips and needing to use navigation more. I was just tired of using my phone separately for that. Thanks for watching!
I bought this version after your review of the wired version l. Man I love it. Looks clean, works great and haven’t had any issues with (knock on wood). Big selling factor was car play well using satellite or regular radio.
It's been great for me. And actually, the glitching I complained about with the screen freezing hasn't happened in a very long time. No complaints here, and I would still recommend it!
@@JDMDriveway you’ve convinced me to get one, what are the dimensions of the box it comes in and the weight if you know, I’m going to ship it to Zambia but want to estimate how much the courier will charge me
I looked for the box and unfortunately I think I threw it away. I'd say it was roughly 10in (26cm) x 6in (15cm) x 6in. And it probably weighed a little less than 5 lbs or so.
Great video Sal. There is a wireless volume knob that you can install. I will post a video since my comment about where to get it is being blocked by RU-vid.
Hey Sal! Thanks for the review, I have loved mine since I intstalled a couple months ago. Still trying to get myself to install the camera I got. As far as the freezing goes with maps, I found with my Iphone I had to give maps permissions to ALWAYS have location services and that fixed the problem with the headunit. Maybe something to look into.
Hey Sal! Super thankful for your channel! I just got the Atoto F7 WE for my 06 Tundra! I’m super interested on learning how to change the boot logo? I can’t seem to find it on my system! Thanks man
For sure! Its a little bit buried, but if you go to display settings I believe, you need to scroll down and boot logo will be down at the very bottom. Hope this helps!
Yep you definitely can, and it's awesome for road trips lol I couldn't demonstrate it because I was using my phone to record video and that stops Spotify. Thanks for watching!
I can totally understand that. I will say that ATOTO does a great job of labeling each of their wires and the harness from crutchfield is clearly labeled too, so it's just a matter of matching up "L Front" to "L Front" or "Constant Power" etc. between the head unit and the adapter. Then it just plugs in like factory
Hi Sal, thank you so much for your videos! I have the same 2002 Tundra as you which makes it fun for me to watch. I've installed the rear camera and this Atoto head unit. Question: How did you download the Toyota Logo onto the Atoto? BTW, my wife likes listening to you while I watch your videos! Thank you for always being kind and polite! A big thank you from Orcas Island!
Awesome, glad to hear it! For the Toyota logo, you have to dig through the settings a little bit. If I remember correctly it's under display settings, and then you scroll down and it shows "boot logo settings" and you can pick Toyota which is already programmed in. So no download required. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
Your content is always top notch. Do you know if the ATOTO supports other launchers? My current head unit has the Agama launcher on it and I like it, but the HU is starting to fail.
Unfortunately I'm not sure, I haven't played around with it enough to know. I've got a feeling you can't, but it may be worth digging through the product info or asking that question on Amazon to see for sure. Thanks for watching!
@@JDMDriveway seems like some models do, and some don’t. The Android based OS models allow more ‘customization’. I just have to narrow down which support which. Thanks for your response!
lol, I installed the exact stereo in my 2000 tundra, and I dont know if my amp was bad, but the sound quality was way better after installing the new unit. My only "con" for the stereo is that its kind of laggy at first, moving through menus is a little slow, but... seems to speed up after a bit. I only use bluetooth audio though, no car play etc... Tundra needs a little sub though, sound quality lacks the lows.
Yeah I have run into the laggyness a little bit here and there, but I've found it's not a huge inconvenience. I also wanted to upgrade the speakers and installed an under seat sub, it made a big difference (especially sitting in the drivers seat)! Thanks for watching!
You used a different brand Camera. Are you able to do live rear view camera while driving with your camera? I'm interested in this because my soft topper makes it hard to see via rear view mirror.
Nope, unfortunately I can't view it with the way that my wiring it set up. My wiring has the camera only turn on when the truck is in reverse. However, you could wire it differently so that the camera is always on and selectable. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
@@JDMDriveway oh okay so in theory it could potentially work if power was wired via switch rather than reverse even with your non atoto camera? Thanks for the reply! Great videos on on your 1st gen experience!
@@JDMDriveway That makes sense to me! I was asking because the product description for the F7 claimed it needed a particular camera. My guess is the live view camera just has instructions on how to wire power and trigger for live view and potentially separate back up triggers and accessory wiring.
Yeah I mean you could always play it safe and get the Atoto camera. But I honestly doubt there's anything special about the camera itself. I could be wrong though, I'm certainly no expert lol
Hey Sal I got a question on your MBRP exhaust. So after a while, the exhaust breaks in. Does yours burble at all or have any sound differences from first installation to now?
I know what you're talking about with exhausts breaking in, but I wouldn't say that this one changed much if at all. I still love the sound, and the video I made doesn't really do it justice. Just loud enough when accelerating or driving slow with the windows down, but not droney on the highway. Hope this helps, and I'm planning to do an update review of it soonish with some hopefully better sound clips for you guys. Thanks for watching!
In your original video you mentioned during cold winter days the wired unit wouldn’t work all that great, is that still the case with this newer wireless unit you’ve got now?
Hey good catch, I didn't mention it because I honestly kinda forgot about that problem. I haven't had any issues with this new head unit 👍🏼 thanks for watching!
if it makes you feel any better, my moms 2022 trail blazer does the same thing on wireless, with the factory radio, must be a bug on iphones side, also my dad has a 2020 sync 4 radio in his f350, i dont think it’s wireless but it has this weird thing where i loosed gps location and you gotta unplug it and replug it in, or the gps shows you driving off into the woods lmao
I went on amazon and got this same exact unit and the only issue i have is the fm radio is like cutting in and out while driving i saw some where online that the power antenna wire should be 12v and its got nothing any ideas?
Huh, I'm not sure. Did the radio work fine before the new head unit? If so, I would just double check all of your wiring connections to see where you may have induced the problem. Thanks for watching
Hi Sal, I liked your video and I wish to install this myself but I didn't find a video showing steps for a Toyota Prius Alpha right hand drive. I still have the factory installed Japanese language unit, it does the job for songs but no google map. I just want to know which iso harness and steering control adapter to buy. Thanks
I'm not familiar with what wiring would work for that car, but crutchfield has some great resources for adapter harnesses. I'd recommend checking out their website. Thanks for watching!
I think the Carplay freeze glitch is an apple issue, I have other cars with CarPlay and it does the same thing. It's super annoying when you have the nav running and then suddenly it freezes and you didn't realize it, I've missed exits that way before.
Hi Sal, Great videos! I have an 04 Tundra and am installing the Atoto F7 WE. I am bypassing the old amp (which is behind the back left passenger seat in the double cab). I have a question about the wiring for the front door speakers. Each door has a woofer and two tweeters (one abobe by the window) with a long Metra bypass harness. I don't see that the wiring in the harness and the radio divides out the woofers and tweeters. Do I just run the wires to the speakers as is, or will the signal overpower the tweeters and blow them? Do I need a bass blocker or crossover to protect the tweeters? Just wondering if you had to deal with these issues on your Atoto install? Thanks!
Hey there! I honestly don't know too much about audio equipment, but I did make a video showing my door speaker install which may answer your question. I didn't touch the tweeters, I only replaced the main speakers lower in the doors. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you, but thanks for watching! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KXsS2CDWLsA.html
@kaipearson5135 thats weird, my WE fits dang near perfect in the opening. I can't imagine that there were different sized radios, so I'm not sure why yours would be any different.
Hmm, I haven't had any issues with Waze on my phone/head unit. I'd double check that everything has the most up-to-date software? Other than that, I'm not sure. Thanks for watching!
I'm not super savvy on what they're offering now. I do know that the F7 WE also offers wireless CarPlay, but does not offer Sirius XM if that is a dealbreaker for you. I don't have experience with it, but it looks to have good reviews! Hope this helps, thanks for watching
The atoto f7 WE wireless I’m assuming that means it is bluetooth but can’t find the answer anywhere. I was wondering if you know if the apple car play and music hook up are Bluetooth?
It's definitely a bit confusing, but to my understanding the Apple car play uses WiFi to connect to your phone. When your phone is connected to the head unit for car play, WiFi is not available on your phone. And if you try to turn off WiFi, it warns you that you will lose your CarPlay connection. However, if you just want to connect and play music without CarPlay, that is a Bluetooth connection. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
i just bought this for my 2006 access cab but for some reason i have a large amount of space around the unit thats open. Yours seems to fit flush. Did you do anything extra to get it to fit flush like that?
good video, was not good buy for me Atoto S8 2024 New, was horrible ,Sound Quality, from alpine Ilx 650, took it back out and put my Alpine , back, plus everytime i started the suv the radio was full blast, I went into settings couldn't lower, start up volume, maybe just me , but ill stick to Alpine, Ilx 407 is next,LOL!
@@yoniiboi707 that’s not bad. I’m 16 and need a truck, but it’ll also be my daily to work, so I just wondered. I didn’t want it to be like 12mpg. I guess comes great reliability comes not so great gas mileage.
Yeah I get around 16ish driving in town, and when I take a highway trip I can get up to 18 if I'm not driving like a maniac. I'm sure with some non all-terrain tires I could bump that up a little too. Thanks for watching!
@@JDMDriveway nice! Some people in like the forums or consumer reviews are like, “ I get 12mpg it’s terrible” so I get mixed info. But I don’t trust those reviews, and they may have had huge tires. I need a truck, and it seems like Toyota is the way to go, may spend a little more in gas, but not in parts and labor.
I'm reading through the manual right now, and it looks like it does. "Two Modes available for steering wheel control :" - Preset : Use PAC SWI Interface between F7 and Vehicle to retain steering wheel control feature... (goes into further explanation) - Custom : Map the steering wheel control keys manually.
Yep, as far as I know it should work with the factory controls! My truck doesn't have the updated steering wheel so I can't say firsthand. Thanks for watching!
I'm not sure if it's possible, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. Probably a safety issue with watching a movie while driving haha thanks for watching!
I haven't had a chance to try out the WE, but I've been super happy with the XE. I really don't think you can go wrong either way. The WE saves you some money, but the XE gives you satellite radio if you care about that. Thanks for watching!
I can promise you that I'm completely independent and bought this myself. I do think that it's a solid head unit, and I still recommend it, despite the minor cons that I listed in the video. Thanks for watching
