Hi, my name is Sal, and I will be using JDM Driveway to document my car journey and hopefully provide quality content on RU-vid. These are by no means going to be instructional videos, nor will they be of incredible production quality, but after following some RU-vid channels for a number of years, I felt that it would be kinda cool to put some of my own content out there as well. Hang out with me as I spend time doing what I love - working on cars.
Again, I am hoping to build this channel to share my cars and stories and I hope that you are encouraged to follow along. Thanks!
I just put 4600s on rear of my 23 Titan… goal being reduce floaty/bouncy feeling, esp when towing 5800lb trailer. So far so better. For rando susp noises, one hack I’ve used in past is tape a bluetooth earpod to the suspect component then run it down the road and listen.
I just got a 04 tundra thats the same color as yours and i wanted to replace the front bumper to be just like yours because mine is red. How would i do that?
Replace your upper balljoints if they have more than 100,000 miles. I love Toyota, but this is something that they messed up. Google it. I am happy to explain how they erred, but that is hard in RU-vid's format.
I think they're way smaller than that, some sort of specialty bulb, and I'm not exactly sure how you swap them. Sorry I'm not of more help there. Thanks for watching!
Your videos are always a vibe! Love the things you've done to your truck. I also have aftermarket headlights, wheels/tires, subwoofers/speakers, and exhaust, and a head unit with apple carplay on my 03.
Nice to see another video Sal. Thanks for posting. Being l live where we get snow l installed a Retrax tonneau cover. Absolutely changed the look of my 2006 DC. So not sure l would change your top 5, but l know l would have to replace one of them. Look forward to your next release. Cheers
I have a 01 tundra extended cab one of the thing I did differently is the exhaust and headlights I got after market headlights read for projectors and for the exhaust I had a custom one put on I assume you know that these tundras have two exhausts after the cats I’m running just the small one it still sounds amazing I have a side pipe made that comes out and back just in front of the rear passenger tire but I love your videos you should have added the led swap on the interior that’s a big one for me I love it now makes the inside look like a 2024 model vehicle
Hey Sal. Another great video. Easy breezy. About the truck... Is the trim gray or black? It's hard to tell in the video. Have you already applied the graphene treatment?
It's a dark grey, but it's definitely faded. Restoring the trim is on the to-do list and I'll be making a video about it soon(ish) lol. Thanks for watching!
To my understanding it should fit both? I think some of the reviews say they were for double cab trucks, but unfortunately I can't say I'm 100% sure. Hope you can get it figured out!
Just found your channel and working my way through your Toyota videos, which are very good! I just wanted to let you know if you ever do a lower ball joint video, it is a good idea to get knuckles from any Sequoia or Tundra made after 09/2003 as they have a larger more robust design.
Good point, definitely an oversight on my part. I've never taken the tailgate off in my ownership so it hasn't been an issue, but I'm sure it could be done easily! Thanks for watching
I followed you and @208tyler recommendations on the rubitrek tires and I loved them! Sadly that tundra got totalled last month I got another tundra that already had ko2s with half tread left. When it's time I'm going back to those rubitreks that was an amazing tire. Honorable mention is backup camera! I had one on my last tundra and the new one without it is a tough drive at times. Putting on a master tailgaters one this weekend
Hey Sal! I have an ‘05 Tundra. I commented a while back about the leveling kit you installed on your truck. When you said that they were a good quality product, you were so right! I was super impressed. I installed the same one on mine and couldn’t be happier!! 😁😁 The only thing is that my upper ball joints clip the coil overs. Is that normal leveling kit behavior? It’s not hurting anything, it’s just annoying at times. I also just bought some Sylvania LEDs as well and Installed them yesterday. They actually work pretty well as compared to what some others have said. I love the setup of your truck! Im currently saving for some wheels (and another project car I have. 😝) Keep up the great content!!! My question for you is, are you going to continue modding your truck?
I've heard of some people having clearance issues with the UBJ, but I don't think I do. At least I haven't noticed any. I think for right now, I'm satisfied with where the truck is at and I'm going to focus on maintenance. But you never know! Lol thanks for watching
Nice truck. I have an 01 Tundra 4x4 extended cab. 117000 miles on it. I’ve put a new timing belt and water pump on it. All new tie rods ball joints upper and lower control arms. New shocks. New 2021 4Runner wheels and new off road tires. Spray in bedliner. New head unit and backup camera. I’m wanting to sell it. It’s flawless.
Super random but have noticed with the atoto that it shuts of and loses connection in specific areas of town? I swear mine loses connection at the exact same spot on my way to work everday. I wonder if its like a frequency error or something. Also ive messed with the eq on mine and it seems that the “rock” preset is the only one that sounds good. But even if i match the eq with the exact settings as the rock preset. It still doesnt sound the same. Does yours do that too?
I haven't noticed anything with the head unit shutting off at certain points, that's the first I've heard of it. I do agree that the EQ settings are a little weird but I also use the Rock setting if I remember correctly. Thanks for watching!
I went today to get the Rubitreks put on; in large part because of your videos. 3 of them were more than a year old so I refused them. They're ordering more but it'a still a crapshoot. (Sam's Club). But they were very cooperative about it. The first thing I did was a new head unit and speakers. My speakers were literally rotted out. And do I look like a subwoofer kind of guy 🤣? Pass. I added the rear view camera and sirius xm. Dropped a load on all that. I have some factory alloys and even though they're not my favorite, I can't really justify new ones. The tires will add a bit by themselves. I'm a complete research nut and it took me a lotta time to go with them. Used a restoration kit on my headlights; they're just fine. Working on the rest. Thanks for the vid's.
Sounds like you've got a pretty sweet setup over there too. Best of luck with the tires, that's frustrating that you had to send them back. Thanks for watching!

I dont think the new tires improve on the looks IMHO Just me.
I've owned my 2001 Tundra for 21 years, I bought it used in 2003. I've made more modifications in the past year, than I made in the past 20, all because I've copied you. haha Do you happen to have a video of how you installed the Atoto? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Haha that's great. I didn't make a video installing the Atoto, but I followed 208Tylers install video on his channel because it's all basically the same thing between different head units. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
I didn't, and probably wouldn't gain much from that, especially with the tires I'm running. I think they're only like 3mph different at 50mph or something like that. If you went bigger you may want to consider it. Thanks for watching!
I followed your wheel bearing and hub vid. Man I even used the same puller. Didn't work for me. Not sure what went wrong but please keep making these gen 1 vids, yours are the best!
Ugh that's frustrating, sorry to hear that. It's a heck of a job, I consider myself lucky that I was able to get it to work for me lol. Thanks for watching!
I just bought Mickey Thompson Baja Boss tires. My truck came with 17 inch rims. I gotta find you on Facebook bro Have you ever though about doing the cerakote plastic restore for those flares?
Looks good, i’m having a really hard time finding a tailgate hydraulic assist. You got any ideas or recommendation? Thanks and regards from central North Carolina.
I haven't seen a hydraulic assist, but I've seen some torsion bar ones that I've been considering installing. I'll try to do that install soon. Thanks for watching!
I'd love to do headers at some point here but I'm a little worried to break exhaust manifold studs. Maybe I'll man up and do it soon haha, thanks for watching!
Hey Sal, super glad to see another Tundra video! My next big purchase for the tundra is going to be wheels and tires as my Coopers are getting low and have visible dry rot/cracking now :/. Currently on the search for a set of 2020 Tacoma Trd Pro wheels with tires already mounted. Other than that my list for mods is full interior led light swap (already did the dash) and the wiper fluid nozzle upgrade. Cheers! Chris
Nice! I love the look of those trd wheels, and you can usually find a decent deal with the tires already mounted on fb marketplace. Thanks for watching!
2005 access cab and I also installed the oc lights. I have led aux beam fog lights. Now when I turn on my fog lights my high beams turn on instead. Other than that the lights are amazing
Absolutely love your channel. I just purchased a 2005 Tundra DC and installed the same F7 WE, Natika back up camera in the same location as yours, and did an under seat 8" sub. Nothing cooler than a 2024 truck from 2005! Keep up the great work, Sal!
@@JDMDriveway Also just purchased a 2005 Tundra DC and installed F7 atoto headunit, mini projector LEDs, and definitely going to be adding an underseat sub. Thanks for all the info 👍😎👊
I know, that back area really needs to be wet vac'd, I just kinda forget about it because I don't open those back doors too often lol thanks for watching!
I know its been said before, but your pacing when talking is so nice. You dont leave any dead space, but youre also not high energy shouting like many youtubers do to try and keep engagement. My wife drives this same truck so I've been binging all of your videos
I have an ‘05 with 148k on it.its the 2wd double cab sr5 limited. I’d like to change the differential oil but my goodness I’ve been told all kinds of different brands, weights etc. What is it with these 1st generation tundras and confusing recommendations ? 😂
