Hey thanks for the video. Hopefully by this time you are fully living your dream ! I’m currently looking into ATP so I’m just doing as much research as I can on the program. I’m also 39yrs old so I lve the part at the end where you mention even us older guys can, would and should still go for it. For being only 19yrs old at the time I think you were way ahead of your curve / supper positive and I would absolutely have to agree..INPUT = OUTPUT. IE: Work your arss off and it will pay off ! Cheers Bro
Thanks man for this vid I really liked it a lot it’s very helpful and I’ve always loved to fly I got another year until I can start flying I’m 16 now so can’t wate to start
you're awesome! I've been a flight attendant for about 5 years now! I've always wanted to pursue a career as a pilot! I'm going for my first test flight next month! I'm anxious and excited! Extremely worried about the finical avenue of it all. However im willing & dedicated!
Excellent video content! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you heard about - Rozardner Flying Bird Reality (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for how to get pilot license minus the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my best friend Jordan finally got amazing success with it.
right now I really want to fly for a living and that's all I want to do, I don't care what that entails. so ive started a line of communication with ATP
Hey Ryan came across your video I actually am 30 now and looking for that career change. Thanks for this I know you’re not flying still but I really feel like this is the right fit for me any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Hey man, I just wanted to say thanks for the videos. When you said if you're 30 and want a new career path hit it right on the head. That's where I am in my life. So thanks man for the motivation to get out there and do it. I haven't decided on my path yet. I am currently waiting to start Liberty University but thinking about ATP because of the quicker route. Might have to stick to the Federal loans though. Anyways, thanks again and please keep up the videos.
I’m in the same boat. I’m 30 and looking for a career change. I’m currently teaching but the pay is not great and from the looks of it won’t be getting any better and inflation looks like it’s only going to keep rising. The only thing I’m nervous about if I go into it is not working for the time being. I’m currently at 23 hours so far from a small school I fly out of when I get time. So I wonder if that will shorten my time at ATP if I go.
Do I have to go through the entire 6 month course? I'm a government contractor and it's hard for me to stay in one location for 6 months. Can I do the course in 2-3 months increments?
I love your videos but I have a question. I'll be getting my private next year and after going into ATP in June. I will be going to the Fort Lauderdale location. My question for you is, if I choose the program that has the 40 hour multi engine time, doesn't that mean when you become an MEI, you just get paid and simply build more multi engine time???? So why do the 100 hour of Multi time when you can just do the 40 and then teach a multi engine plane and build time!!??? Thank you.
It is a tougher transition through the ratings doing the 40 hour program. ATP can explain in better detail but you are correct. If you think the 40 hour program is a better option for you then go for it! Good luck!
Hello Ryan, i like your video and i want to ask you if you have older people with you at ATP, I mean ppl like 45 or older want career change. Please let me know.
I've always want d to do this, for 25 yrs since age 15. Everyone tells me give it up, I need to be a superbrain, or been a 4.0 GPA in school. I was only a C+\B- student. Problem is I have trouble staying focused. This is still the one thing I want to do, but age is getting in the way.
I wish I could go back and slap the shit out of anyone who put that negativity in my head. All the airline pilots that I’ve met who roll their eyes at what others have said. I say go for it.
I have been looking into ATP for a couple of years and am really thinking about going. I am finishing up A&P School and was going to transfer to a Bachelor degree program; however, i might just go to ATP. What do you think?
Hey bro, I have a question about when you did the commercial C/X's, do you get to pick the locations or do you just go where they tell you to go? I live in VA but I'm from OK and they have a base in Tulsa, was wondering if it would be possible to maybe swing by overnight or something. Also, I'm trying to go to the RDU campus, didn't you guys stop there ? Any opinions? Look forward to more vids! Fly safe !
Hi Ryan! Just curious, I have a sleeve tattoo, and I know for a fact major airlines want you to cover it up and all that fun stuff, but my question is, what about ATP? I read their dress code and it basically says airlines want no visible tattoos and they expect you to know what to do with them, but from your experience at ATP, was there anyone with visible tattoos on their arms? I’m talking big enough to notice without looking to hard. Any experiences or advice you have with this would be incredible to hear! Thanks in advance :)
Commenting on a 2 year old video, but wanted to update on the locations. Las Vegas, Tulsa, Bowling, and Carlsbad locations are no longer in use. According to their website anyhow. Also, Camarillo, San Diego, Naples, Richmond, Wilmington, Hartford and Louisville have been added as new locations. Just updating anyone bc I got excited to see Tulsa on here and was then deflated when their website no longer advertises it.
Hey Ryan Can you say anything any ATP assessment tests at the beginning of under training / anything like this you had to go through? Secondly - what level(s) of math to expect on the tests, what kind of problems were you faced with during the course ? Can you provide some overview ? Thanks
You will have some evaluations through your training and a good knowledge of math is needed for calculations on the fly (literally) and due to the fact that aviation is very technical. Get in touch with your local training facility.
hey ryan i loooove maths and physics to a point that whenever i'm in an aircraft i just start doing thse calculations and analysis regarding every detail. anyway i'm a business graduate and guess what i fucking hate it i regret doing it instead of some engineering specially the aeronautic engineering, because i have an analytical brain that just likes to analyze everythg which explains what i said above regarding what i do in an aircraft, so my question is am I gonna study the same things or at least some of the subjects taught in the aeronautical engineering or not?
What can you do to study before you start school and what do you need to study I'm thinking about going to my buddies in Jacksonville now he graduate from there in December
Would you recommend going to school while in atp? I wanted to join atp the summer right after I graduate from HS but idk if it will be to much stress school and flying.
How long does it take from private pilot to ATPL ? and how much will it cost? If you could give me a breakdown on how much will it cost for each license i would appreciate it
ATP programs are a fixed cost that you can find on their website. If you go through another school, it can vary drastically depending on a ton of factors. To get from zero time to Airline Rated Pilot though you are looking at a $50k to $100k investment all in all depending on where you go. Good luck in your research. Try and call around to different schools. They should help you.
Hey Ryan, I'm signing up for my start date with ATP next month. I'm trying to get as prepared as possible before it and have all my stuff ordered and ready to roll. I'll be starting fresh with only 2 hours logged... The good thing is, I already have a 4 year degree and after 5 years in management (absolutely hated it) I've decided to take the plunge. Two of my uncles flew for the big boys as life long careers. How much is expected from me for the start date? I know I've got to complete the initial 62~ modules and take the test, but I don't know what to expect. Thanks and keep up the good work! I'm loving seeing these videos of someone going though the program right as I'm going to start
Awesome to hear! Yes, I would knock out the required modules and then maybe refrence some material from MZeroA, get the airplane flying handbook or just familiarize yourself with any Private Pilot info you can. Good Luck and congrats! It's going to be an amazing journey.
@@luissanchez1159 hey Luis, yes I completed the program back in January of 2018. I've been at a regional for 2.5 years now and I upgrade to captain next month!
@@Inferno_17 I'll like to ask you if you have time to do a phone call or zoom call anytime soon for 20- 30 minutes. I'm 44 years old and a little scared of changing careers at my age. I can pay you with zelle or venmo for your time. I don't want to spend $90K at ATP and regret it later. Please let me know, thanks.
Generally no though it can - with luck; skill; good cfi; and other studies necessary to answer your questions: Smart thing is just write them with the same question and expect to be marketed for flight operations training
i heard you need your privet pilots license with an extra 40hrs on top of that. I'm in the exact same area as you are but is that true you need an extra 40 hours to get in? (total 80hrs)
I am a truck driver I want to save $80000 dollars in the next two years and then start my flying would that be enough to finish all the way to may commercial license.
Thanks for your answer. Prop...I'm really interested it but I still need to think about the tuition fees that's why I'm going to work as CDL truck driver soon. Can u explain more about the student loan please. Thanks u.And God bless you.
Plus, you have to be a high GPA in high school, or at least A- in math, physics, and then learn another whole course of study in a college called Meterology, Aerodynamics, etc.
MasterCarguy44 you don't need any physics classes to be a pilot. You need a basic understanding of meteorology, weather, icing, etc. But no college level meteorology.
Andrew Ayad Long Beach is a little bit faster paced than some of the other locations, but that can be a very good experience if you intend on going to the airlines or any job that requires flying into busy areas.
Tommy Castro Long beach flying club has pretty good rates, and it’s just slightly down the road. They have on site mechanics which helps a lot. Find the right instructor there is the most important part, and find the right instructor that fits your style.
Zero time through commercial should take about 5 or 6 months. I recently flew with a student that started from zero time in March and he is about done with his commercial rating. From commercial you can go on to CFI school which adds another month or so to become a flight instructor.
I only have two questions about the program 1. How does ATP help with the 1,500 hours required for a position as an airliner co-pilot? 2. Can you fail out of the program, and if so, how easy is it to fail out? This is an enormous decision for me to make, and I would love a little guidance from someone with experience in the program.
I went to ATP in Daytona FL and my instructor was falsifying my logbook and when I reached out to management about the issue they put me on flight hold the next day and then started accusing me of videoing my roommates, hiding video cameras in the plane and microphones in the plane (which is completely absurd). The thing that made me leave though is my roommate was doing cocaine with an instructor and the regional manager was told about the situation by an instructor. The manager then calls the instructor and tells him to get clean because he’s going to have a drug test. One word to describe ATP... Corrupted
Do you recommend that I join ATP with having zero experience flying? I definitely want to peruse a career in aviation but what gets me is the financial side of things, I just graduated high school and have never had a job. Thank you and great videos!
Jesus Cuevas I recommend you go take an introductory flight somewhere first, to see if you even enjoy flying. Then, go get a first class medical to ensure you are physically qualified to fly for a living. Good luck!
During your time up to a commercial license, if your not working part time with 0 income, then how do you manage living expenses like housing, gas, food. It’s scary especially with all the loan money on your back.
Yumple My concern too. Would love someone who has gone through this to answer asap :( A part time job would help but with the ATP schedule and studying idk But I would need money for housing and and gas and food etc 😭
I have my PP and an Associates Degree Part 141 for professional pilot so I can get my atp with 1250 hours. If I go to ATP for the 100 hr fast track will I still only need the 1250 or will I need the whole 1500 hrs
Great video man. When u said 40 n a career changer, I definitely related to it. Im 38 with formal college above a masters degree n hold a private pilot license which took me yrs to get flying once or twice a week, sometimes once every 3 weeks n time off due to weather or money. I wonder if ATP would b too fast or overwhelming for me. Ur thoughts? Thank u.
141? If you're already going that route, I would for sure finish the program. Plus that way you get the restricted ATP minimums with 141. (1000 hours vs 1500 requirement)
Prop&Gear yeah 141 my bad. We'll see Idk if I wanna keep taking all the extra classes required for the degree and rack up even more debt haha thank you though
I'm considering what you did with atp and university. I was wondering how do manage atp and trying to get a degree online? And do you recommend it? At what age do you predict completing the 1500 hours?
I am not doing any university classes while doing ATP. I will start my online university classes right as I finish training with ATP. So at that point I will be flight instructing full time and completing the classes in my spare time around the instructing work schedule. I would like to have 1500 hours completed by the age of 21. Great questions, thanks and good luck!
Does ATP accept international students? And do they provide the opportunity to work as an flight instructor upon graduating ? So we can collect hours? Thanks in advance
Tshering Sherpa As far as I know, ATP does not offer any flight instructor jobs FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS. just only for international student. As for Admission, of course ATP accepts international students you just need to fulfill their requirements
I️ read to be an airline pilot you gotta have a bachelors degree in Aviation but ATP says you can go through the program and become an airline pilot, someone please please explain that to me
Robert Polkamp yes you will be able to. You don’t need a masters degree. You in fact don’t need any degree. I know multiple pilots who have went to flight school with only a pilots license and are now flying for southwest and American.
Layne Petersen so what do you suggest I should do? I’m close to finishing my associates so I really want to know what I should do before I try and continue going to school
Jose Sanchez okay. We are in the same exact shoes. I’m currently in college and I have 42 credits going towards an associated degree for business. I also want to become a commercial pilot. Right now the best thing to do from my experience talking with 2 captains for American and a couple first officers, would be to finish getting your degree. Or get at least 60 credit hours. ATP requires you to have either a pilots license or at least 60 college credits before joining there program. I chose the college way. So once I get my two year degree. I’m going down to ft Lauderdale and starting ATP. I would recommend the same for you. Just finish up with your two associates, just so you have something to fall back on if aviation doesn’t work out. And once you get done with college, just contact ATP and get registered. Best of luck to you
I work for Airlines as a Line Tech only sat and sun I was thinking of going to ATP to become pilot I wanted to take advantage of company to pay 11k Will I have a hard time finishing if I don't have weekends available
I'm a Filipino sir from Philippines i was surfing all day just to pick best flying school in us. I badly want to study in atp as well as to be a flight instructor to gain flight hours. hopefully my green card will be alright sooner or later. we often use our own language here though we had English class, we just take it for granted. so is there any English improvement program in atp sir.
do all flight instructor has a chance to get in atp airline partnership program??? or it depends on your performance or on how you determine to be qualified to their organization.
You are most likely not elligible to fly major routes without a degree. Non Degree jobs are generally corporate, government (speed check airplane, survey), charter, cargo, regional, etc...
Jon T wrong. While all the majors want you to have a bachelors at the minimum, not having one doesn't make you "ineligible" and there are numerous major airline captains with no college degree. The regionals don't require one at all.
Do you think its good or wise to assemble pilots quickly like you assemble a Chevy?? Has this shown to produce a quality, educated, well-rounded pilot? Or has it just shown to be a profitable thing for you (ATP)??? Call some 121 & 135 operators & ask them
Lol... He's either staying at home with parents or relatives. His neighborhood looks like he's less than 15 minutes drive from ATP... and he doesn't have to start paying it back until a year after school.
Hi Ryan, I am an Indian citizen. I will finish my bachelor's degree (Aeronautical) next month. I wish to join ATP flight school. But, I don't know about TSA procedures and pre requisites to join ATP. Because, I have no replies for my emails for additional information. That is, I don't have any guidance. Please give me some informations about what should I do as a next step for joining ATP Flight school ?
