Thanks for the great content! I heard from an ATR instructor that after feathering the prop, you should wait 20 seconds before engine shutoff to allow the oil to drain to the main oil tank or it will remain in the propeller reduction gear box causing a low oil reading. Maintenance may fill the oil and when you start the engine again, the oil from the gear box will return to the oil tank potentially causing an oil level over max. This may lead to an oil leak, smoke in the cabin or an internal engine fire. We don’t want you to end up on a future episode of Mayday / Air Crash Investigations. 😉

I'm very happy with this update. The ATR is now basically exactly what I was looking for in terms of a regional turbo prop and with the price point what can I say, it's fantastic.

The flight plan issue you were having around 31:00 was because you were on the "plan" view in the navigation display. Not sure why it screws up but switching back to either of the other nav views makes the flight plan page work as expected. The reason you were seeing no flight plan and the revision page wasn't working was because you had selected the secondary flight plan, you just couldn't tell because of the aforementioned screwup.

I realy love how things are going with this atr. The decelerating performances are representative of the reality with that type of plane fadec equiped. I dont know if you are familiar with the DA42 we use in school. But we are doing 165kts with it until 1.4 NM final x).

I never flew the DA42, but with the PA28 and PA34 we could also stay fast for very long.

Great video thanks! I *think* you confirmed the after start item TRU on but the overhead showed it still off. I think VNAV can still be tempremental at times but it's a very enjoyable and engaging aircraft to fly.

It seems the right (FO) FMC is still frozen when starting in cold and dark. When starting on the runway it works fine. Might want to pass this on to Hans. Would be really handy to use it for COM freq entry.

Another great video. Suggestion, would love to see an RNAV approach tutorial. Also, I wanted to tell you, I sent a note to a320 sim pilot and suggested he have you on his podcast. They are absolutely fantastic and I would love to hear you banter back and forth about your history in aviation and everyday challenges with him. Would be amazing as your both my favorite RU-vidrs for flight sim.

Thank you for a great and detailed video of this rapidly improving and highly enjoyable plane. Best value I've ever had for £10! Yes there's still things to do and updates needed but, with a pretty stable and well running smooth MSFS on fairly high to Ultra settings, I feel we've never had it so good in the the sim nowadays. I've almost got too many good planes to fly now, in virtually unlimited amazing global scenery, with FBW, the updated biz jets PMDG, Fenix, SWS Kodiak and RV14. Real pilots usually only ever fly one or two planes in the real world, and to relatively few different places in one region lol.

Definitely better. I still get prop rpm decaying in the beta range on the ground tripping the generators offline. That ones a bit annoying at night when all the lights go out.

Flight plan disappeared on me too while I was putting in the waypoints last night. It came back somehow... and VNAV path vanished while on RNAV approach.

That's the question... I couldn't get them to reset by turning the FDs OFF and ON again as we would do in the 737 or the Airbus. I guess pressing TOGA and then reselecting the other modes will be my next attempt.

A bit late but press STBY, it will put any active mode of the flight director into standby, and the fma will be cleared.

there are two buttons under the secondary flight display. one , B, is brightness. the second is C. maybe that's for contrast, dimming the weather overlay? it's possible.

@@I_Evo yeah true, but as soon as I pull the levers into reverse, even just slightly, after landing, the aircraft comes to almost an immediate stop. It’s like being slowed by arresting cables on a carrier deck

@@Cessna172SNavIII Agreed, think they need to re-vist the calibration of the throttles. For me at least, looking at the gauges on the external view the reversers are either at zero or -10 (full).

@@Cessna172SNavIII The reversers work very well for me, smooth and not exceedingly fast. It could be a control mapping issue. I have mapped my reversers using the procedure that SimHanger Flight Simulation recently put on line. It works really well!

so whats the deal with windscreen wipers doing absolutely nothing? it being an asobo aircraft and an asobo made sim, I wonder if thats something they are working on improving, because currently theres no real meaning in having working windscreen wipers if they don't wipe

Hi 737ngdriver, you are very fluent with the ATR ! Could you tell me what is the difference between climbing in IAS mode versus VNAV IAS mode ? Is it related to potential altitude constraints recorded in the FMS flight plan ? I ask because I experienced some strange behaviour of my ATR in VNAV IAS mode, NOT following altitude constraints whatsoever ... Kind regards

What are the navigational limitations of an ATR compared to a jet like A320/737? eg RNAV/RNP. I live near NZQN and the jets can land in much lower minimums.

The VERT REV page doesn’t work when in plan mode, don’t know if the real aircraft works in this way. And when the flight plan disappeared I guess you clicked twice on the FPLN button and the FMC switched to the secondary plan which was empty

@@SmokiesDen First of all you can never align a GPS position. An FMC or IRS position you can update, but not a GPS position. As I assume that is what's meant here however let's not be nitpicking. It's quite simple indeed: If no manual position entry is made, the plane will automatically align itself to the GPS position. Thus you're not supposed to insert a position yourself. Same with the Airbus by the way. LAST Position only shows where the plane was shut down. It might have been towed over night or whatever. Doesn't matter, it only shows where it was last shut down.

​​@@A330Driver I misspoke but meant aligning the irs to the current gps position (I assumed last would be what it would use if you didn't put a position in), but I went back and answered my own question. When you made your tutorial in video 2 at aprox 1:50 in you told us to click the GPS position and put it into the IRS position. One of the top comments on that video though is that you don't need to do that and therefore this is the new procedure to follow.

@@A330Driver Because I'd be afraid not being able to navigate to my destination. 🙂This has happened to me once on the default 747, there was a bug where the flight plan simply disappeared upon reaching the STAR, with every subsequent waypoint, etc. I had to manually navigate to turn and catch the ILS and it was frustrating to say the least.

How are you getting weather returns in the ATR-72-600? I selected weather radar on the MFD and turned the knob to the right until I saw WT and I dont get any returns when flying. I only get returns for Terrain.

Well, don't turn it all the way to the right, which is terrain mapping mode and probably not implented. Use WX or WX+T mode instead.

The atr seems to still have some jarring bugs even after the update. Most notably a TOD marker that moves further away when the mcp alt is changed to a lower altitude, engines not being spooled up to the T/O rating on a turnaround departure (even when T/O is armed in the pwr management), the inability to properly capture and follow the glidepath during an rnav app. While the update fixes alot more serious issues, it is still a hassle to fly multiple legs on this aircraft before the plane starts having problems. It’s unfortunate because flying multiple short hops is what this aircraft is meant for, and personally I don’t like going to the main menu each time im done a leg.

The TOD moving is not a bug, it happens when you set a lower altitude too early. The FMS then assumes a new cruising altitude. Not a bug, but a feature. I haven't tried a turnaround yet. And honestly, for a first update two weeks after release this is quite good! Of course they can't fix everything in a matter of two weeks, that'll take months. Which is quite normal after a plane release.

@@A330Driver I had to double check with a real ATR pilot friend this was the case the other day and indeed it is the normal behavior of the aircraft also at the airline he works at the descent altitude is only set when the vertical path indicator appears on the PFD and no earlier so it seems that is also normal on the ATR.

You’ve mentioned in another comment the TOD moving is not a big and a result of selecting lower altitude too early, when is the correct time to change altitude to prepare VNAV? I t has been very inconsistent for me, selecting lower altitude and pressing VNAV takes the plane on descent with pitch hold or VNAV path way before TOD and I have to correct altitude again, any insight in this issue? Thanks for all you do for us non real pilots!

@@aguaron From what a friend has told me altitude should not be set before the vertical path (magenta box) appears on the PFD , this usually shows up a few nautical miles BEFORE TOD then you select your descent altitude and press the vnav button to arm your descent path.

I'm having trouble understanding the comms of the Tower. Why is he saying negative on the startup only to give his approval three seconds later? What am I missing?

They're trying to implement ACDM on many German airports on VATSIM at the moment, with mixed results at the moment. At least right now it doesn't have much to do with reality yet. What happened was basically as follows: He needed a TOBT - which he would normally have gotten from operations in real life Since he didn't have one he denied startup. He then asked me for my TOBT and once he had one in the system startup was approved. In my opinion not a good integration as pilots have nothing to do with setting the TOBT in real life. That's the dispatchers responsibility. Just take the initial TOBT from the flightplan, that would solve it. But well.

CRUMBS! After the new update a problem with TCA TRHUSTMASTER THROTTLE AND ATR Asobo 600 72 dOESN´T WORK AT ALL THE tca tHRUSTMASTER tHROTTLE. I was work fine before the update of the ATR and now, suddenly doesnt work meanwhile flying after take off: I 've configured using the PAD of Asobo again and work well while taxi, and take off, but when i try to move the Throttle without using Autopilot or the autopilot on … get stuck and the Throttle doesnt work at all. I try two times starting from beginning a new fly and always the same… it’s frustrating… before the UPdate of ATR from Yesterday, all was fine… This is pure junk! Any solution? Anyone happens? thanks for your answers!

I am frustrated. Regarding the TRustmaster AIRBUS TCA Quadrant Throttle ,it works perfect in Fenix or PMDG with its different configurations but ,after yesterday's ATR 72 update from Asobo, there is no way to get it to work in flight , it is stuck. I have deleted and installed the ATR again, but it is frustrating, prepare the whole flight, control all the parameters and when you want to intervene in the Throttle, it gets stuck and you can not land because you can not lower power or maintain it. It is frustrating and very frustrating

@@wadastent6078 I went into the menu during flight and when I returned the levers wouldn't go into idle as well. The small T handle (Idle Gate) on the pedestal was somehow pushed in by going into the menu. I also have the TCA but no further problems with it, hope you get it solved.

Sadly, this aircraft remains an absolute mess! There is a major bug which prevents the aircraft engines from starting when using cold and dark. I have spent hours trying to work out what is going on. Sometimes I cannot get Hotel Mode working. All apears fine until I disconnect external power and the aicraft reverts to battery power only. Other times I manage to get engine 2 started but engine 1 will not start. Sometimes I cannot get either engine to start. The different options (cold and dark, hotel mode, etc) are a waste of time. When neither engine started this evening, I pressed ready for taxi. Even though external power was stiull connected the outboard displays shut down and neither engine would start. My fear is that the developer who released this beta-version of the aircraft also developed the CRJ.... which, more than 12 months on, is still full of bugs and problems. It seems as though he develops something really good.... upto a point.... gets bored and then abandons it. My fear is that he will do the same with the ATR.... VERY DISAPPOINTING

I got no problems understanding ATC in the video. There are moments where some calls are a bit quiet, but that's typical VATSIM. Nobody got their mic volume at the same as the others.
