Formerly | 737NG Driver | I'm a current A330 and former Boeing 737 pilot based out of Europe. On my channel I bring you mostly flight simulation related content such as reviews, tutorials and first looks based on Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane.
For five years I flew the 737 across Europe before I changed airline and aircraft to now fly the A330 to the worlds most beautiful destinations.

If you like my videos please consider a small donation as it's taking a lot of time and effort to create these.

I feel like the inibuilds A320 takes a very long time to get speed. Also when taking off it feels very sluggish to actually climb.

Emanuel, thanks a lot for the video, I'm one of those who requested yesterday a TO performance review of this plane and I'm glad to see you obliged. Very nice of you. You will notice in this comments section that people are asking if the seemingly slow acceleration is a Neo vs Ceo thing. In fact during your first roll you do acknowledge the slow acceleration compared to Fenix' A320. I'm wondering the same thing. Can you address it ? Note that I'm not asking if slow acceleration is acceptable or not: you address that early in your video by saying that it is acceptable (in short, why push the engines when you don't need to ?). What I would like to know, is if Neo vs Ceo has anything to do with it. I note that FBW's A320 is a Neo too and yet accelerates meaningfully faster than Inibuild's model. Thank you.

For a default aircraft, this is incredible and for simmers who cannot afford addons, this brings them one step closer to a more immersive aviation experience. Not than most simmer will ever get to feel or evaluate he endless complaints they have about the platform realism

Hello, in 14:40 aren’t you supposed to climb at v2, thus partially justifying the poor climb performance being at the back of the power curve ? Thanks in advance :)

In the engine failure scenario, wouldn't you set the other engine to TOGA instead of continuing a FLX on 76% ?
@A330Driver
@A330Driver Час назад
Not necessarily. You *can* advance the other thrust lever to TOGA, however it should not be necessary. Your takeoff performance and thrust setting are calculated so that it has to be able to safely climb out at takeoff thrust setting. In the real world, if I'd get that close to obstacles, by all means I'd immediately go TOGA. But since we wanted to test our takeoff performance here I would not see why we would increase thrust.

I think the issue with the Ini 320 is that it just accelerate slowly... if you run the same test with FBW 320 with same parameters you'll clearly see the difference.. what about a warmer temperature OAT

For me it is less of speeds to high it has more to do with Acceleration. So I wanted to ask if the NEO Engines are less powerful than the older CEOs, cause even with lower Flex Temperatures the Inibuilds was accelerationg slower than the Fenix. At least in my opinion?

Hi Emi, 1 question about the Heading knob and Nav: is it normal that if I select heading before I take off (when the blue NAV logo is showing on the screen) and then want to change back to NAV, this plane is staying in HDG mode and doesn’t move back to NAV until I am in the air? Because that seams like a bug from iniBuilds

Hi Emi, great video as always! I have a question in regards to V1 ranges, like how your company example had 129-142. How exactly do you decide on what V1 speed you enter in the MCDU/FMC of your aircraft if given a range? Would it be the lower V1 speed as a precaution? Is it based on weather conditions? I'm wondering as I use VAS airplane toolbox for the 737s and it gives me a range for them.

If I understand the video, the only criteria for takeoff is the runway length? Aircraft weight, temperature and airport altitude are no factors in the calculations V speeds? I believe the tablet calculations are not correct. I’ve tried changing just the weight to no passengers and the V speeds didn’t change from 150 knots. So hold it down on the runway for 150 when you could have been airborne sooner?

I don't know completely but I feel that I miscalculated those takeoff speeds but in high altitude airports, I normally fly in Bogota (8360 feet) as my departure point but when using those speeds I am always rotating almost at the end of the runway more or less in the touchdanezone so I don't know once I tried rotating at more or less 134 knots with the same weight and if it went up then I don't know. (sorry for my level of English)

Congrats on 50k looking forward to simbrief performance video with this and other aircraft. A dirty quick hack of Simbrief with settings I can take from your screen plus IMPROVED CLIMB enabled calc to - 4kts from Inibuilds. If you disable improved climb you get >10kts differential. Would be nice if this is explained etc. default is enabled. Compared to your tool +5kts. So pick a figure halfway between both and it be close 😂. My Very unscientific work needs a lot of playing with to cover full spectrum of weights configs.

I am curious if it is it SOP to select TOGA power for the remaining engine after an engine failure after V1? Or that is up to the pilot to decide?

Not SOP, but as long as only flex temp and no fixed derate is used the option is always available to the pilot.

Your partner doesn't seem to be quite right... Mate I absolutely love your content and you make this sort of content seem like being a pilot achievable for most of us that have many various hindrances into becoming a pilot... Be it health or financial or whatever that may be... p.s... It's been great to see you in my home country of NZ, you will need to now do a flight from Queenstown to my old home town of Rotorua, a airport that is steeped with history when it comes to aviation, and once used to have international flights with the A320... (these are my photos of being a nerd plane spotter when I was like 11) 3rdlevelnz.blogspot.com/2014/06/who-said-that-rotorua-airport-was-one.html Hell... Why not do another one of those "a day in a life as a A320 BA pilot" and make it a kiwi one.... Treat yourself the Auckland, Dunedin, Palmerston North and Wellington pay version airports and while you are at it, get all the other freeware airports in NZ that have, are capable of or used to have A320 flights... Here is a basic itinerary for you.... especially to prevent too much double backing (Real world flights originating/going from/to the three main centers The tourist triangle of skiing in Queenstown then go to Rotorua for the lakes, geothermal spa treatment, fishing and a cultural Maori experience before returning the tourists for their international flight out of Christchurch, then a business commute to the agricultural center of NZ Hamilton, then taking a load of bluff oyster eaters to the opening of the bluff oyster season in Invercargill, then... Taking a freight of live oysters to Palmerston North. Then take a plane load of reverends to a church meeting in Dunedin (They actually hired a air nz 767 for a real life event 🤣) then either a little charter hop to Tauranga and a return flight to Wellington for another charter flight to Napier (both airports have seen odd A320 charter) before repositioning to Auckland for normal services the following day.... Too easy The complete A320 capable list * are current, # were former A320 airports *Auckland *Wellington # Hamilton (Trans tasman) # Palmerston North (Trans tasman) # Rotorura (Trans tasman) Tauranga (a very rare charter) Napier (a very rare charter) *Wellington *Christcurch *Queenstown *Dunedin *Invercargill

From a UX perspective, the lines on the fuel panel seem to be a good idea, as you can "see" what "they do", but in practice this requires the person looking at it to think what the result of the position is, even if that only takes a fraction of a second. The A320 and onwards cleaned this up with taking the "no lights = default = good" principle to the max. But boy, I admit, it looks sooo good :) Call me a romantic, but this is such a charming cockpit. A lot of bells and whistles that we got rid of later, but all so cleanly laid out. Almost like a Chanel suit.

Emanuel, from your video yesterday: "I couldn’t see any issue yet. Sure it’s not the same as a 777 in TOGA but it seems fine.", "apart from that (referring to the freeze you got), the airplane performed perfectly", and "there's nothing to complain about". I think you need to do more testing. People are complaining that it takes them the entire runway to take off. Here is the reason for this: in this model, runway length impacts V1, VR and V2. In the real one, everything else remaining equal, only V1 is impacted. This is important because this has the effect of delaying rotation. In your video, you didn't notice too much because you took off from 06R which is a relatively short(ish) runway, so the model didn't increase your VR too much (135kt). If you had taken off from 06L instead, which has a longer TORA, the model would have increased your VR to 150kt (which is of course wrong) and you would have rotated even closer to the end of the runway. Try it ! In fact, you can see for yourself that you rotated dangerously close to the end of the runway. My understanding is that this was flagged during the beta and for some reasons Inbuild decided not to improve it. A shame. This plane should have never been released in its present state.
@A330Driver
@A330Driver 11 часов назад
Well but runway length *does* impact ALL takeoff speeds. If your runway is longer you can choose a higher Vr and V2, thus creating a better climb performance because you have more lift, enabling a steeper gradient. There is nothing wrong with rotating close to the end of the runway. The screen height - the height above the end of the runway you must be able to achieve while maintaining V2 - is 35ft. 15ft if the runway is wet. The ini A320neo easily manages to get that with the calculated speeds. I think I'll have to do a video with a bit of performance theory in there - and if we're on it already I might as well put them to the flight test ;-)

@@A330Driver Emanuel thanks for the reply. If you could do a video specifically on this aircraft performance I think this would be great, but may be in your next video featuring this aircraft you can simply - if you think about it - pay extra attention to the way this aircraft accelerates. To me and a number of people we think it feels underpowered, but none of us flies the A320 so...
