Aiden was likely the closest in determining how Atrioc has so much Nvidia stock. It was likely though an employee purchase program which is tied to a portion of his salary. Sure it is still an election on his part as to how much salary he takes this way, but it is still separate from a 401k match program or other investment (typically receive the stock at a discounted price but have to hold on to it for a designated period of time).
Big A’s Nvidia stock is obviously an investment regardless of how it was acquired. Even if he got it when working for Nvidia, he didn’t sell it immediately. That’s equivalent to getting cash and immediately purchasing that amount of stock. This would still apply to 401k match if it’s all vested, even if he had no choice in how the company matched his contributions originally.
