From Wikipedia: "Alcan Border, also known as Port Alcan, is a census-designated place in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area in the U.S. state of Alaska. Part of the Unorganized Borough, Alcan Border is the site of the Alcan - Beaver Creek Border Crossing, the main U.S. port of entry for persons arriving in Alaska by road. The population was 33 at the 2010 census, up from 21 in 2000."
Hey Zilla, maybe the next time you drive in Canada and Mexico (or any country that uses the metric system) you should switch your units into kilometres. You can also look at the speedometer on the dashboard, there is usually a smaller KMH gauge under the MPH gauge. You should try it, trust me. The speed limit would finally be even. Also congrats on reaching Alaska!
Finally arrived even if you were fined for speeding at three miles an hour. Looking forward to the weather as you get further into the state. Many thanks.
I seem to have discovered your channel at a perfect time. I’ve been able to binge this Long Journey series without having to wait between parts 😁 keep up the great work!
Hi Zilla, As far as I understand. 1.50 was actually suppose to incorporate the new gaming engine that SCS was testing out internally. But i guess due to further testing it wont be included in 1.50 but sometime later. Similarly, i think they were going to update the game to DX 12 but as mentioned in their blog post it is still based on DX 11. Therefore, the game engine does not make optimum use of multi-core systems and thus alot of gamers mention about so- so optimization of ATS and ETS2 as far as I further understand. However, they still have made some changes to performance with TAA and night lights performance. Hopefully when they update the game engine, it should further solve this issue and further increase performance. This is what I understand :). Looking forward for more episodes :)
Ah, interesting back story, thanks so much. I guess we'll have all those features to look forward to in 1.51 or later. It's great to see the continued development of the series. :)
Yeah, I don't know why I didn't clue into the border name more quickly, but eventually it dawned on me. And yeah, I have to think there is a trick to parking a truck in a spot like that, and I don't know it yet. :)
I've loved this series so much I added a bunch of them in to a new save. Right now I have C2C, Mid Atlantic, and Midwest expansion activated in mine, but promods and alaska are there, just not activated right now. I'd kinda like to explore the rest of the lower 48 first. But after actually seeing Alaska I might turn it on....lol. So I checked and they are doing an early beta, once they start the regular beta test 1.5 update should be about 30 days out, I am guessing Nebraska will come right behind. So I'm guessing right around the 30th of May to first week of June. Alcan is a shortcut for Alaska/Canada.
I'm glad you're enjoying it, Nerdy Nana! I'm having fun too. And that'd be a great estimate for the 1.5 and Nebraska content. I'd have plenty of time to explore Alaska at that rate. :)
Great job on that backing from your first delivery.... If I may give a few pointers? If you ever run into a tight delivery point as such again. Always try to back from the left. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you pulled in, it looked like you could have swung to the right, straighten out and back in. As your backing try to be 1/4 from the top to center and once the tail almost gets into the unloading zone, cut it all the way and watch the magic happen. Yes, you'll have to jack knife but I guarantee you'll make it in the first attempt or maybe third. I do alot of delivies in Boston, down town L.A, Oakland, San Francisco, Miami Beach, in a sleeper with a 53' reefer, so backing into extremely tight spot's, I'm a little acquainted with 😁.
This is great, thanks so much! I was thinking the whole time that there must be a set way to approach this. Can I ask, what exactly do you mean by this: " As your backing try to be 1/4 from the top to center and once the tail almost gets into the unloading zone, cut it all the way and watch the magic happen." I'm not quite sure what you mean by that and it seems important. :)
@ZillaBlitzPC I apologize after reading it. It definitely does sound confusing.... What I meant by the "top" was the top of the unloading zone and the center of it. Try to line yourself out where the rear of your trailer is a 1/4 from the top and center of the unloading zone, and right before the rear of your trailer enters the unloading zone cut the steering wheel (turn the steering wheel) so if your backing from the left, you'd cut (turn) all the way to the right and vise versa. However, it's ALWAYS crucial to analyze a delivery point to determine the space and how to execute. The very main important factor is that once you arrive and you have an opportunity and the space to turn to the right and then back into the area, do it. Or if you can back up and back in from the street, there's always a way brother. Or if you feel comfortable enough to blindside, that's always an option as well, but many don't know how to blind side so they always try to figure out how to back in from the left side. Blindside backing can take a lot of time, for obvious reasons. I apologize for such a long description of my explanation. Unfortunately, I'm a man of many words.
Thanks! So in a tight spot like that what kind of angle am I looking for on the initial set up? I felt like I had no room to get the trailer angled into the parking spot with room to turn without having the front of the cab hit the far wall.
Just watched it again. So you didn't have the option to turn right or approach it the original way I suggested. You went in the correct way, however. The best way for a situation like that would be to hug the containers on the left at a angle as if you were driving towards the wall behind the containers and delivery point, then cut all the way right so you can try to be at a 45* angle once set up is completed, once backing up from a 45* when the tail of your tanker starts to enter the drop zone cut the steering wheel hard right, so you can start to jack knife. The primary thing to focus on aside from the nose of the truck so you don't hit anything is, at first the tail of the tanker or trailer, once the tail is in the drop zone, focus on the tandems, the tandems will tell you everything from the rest of the way. Yes you'll have to adjust as you go and do pull ups but it'll take far less time. 😊
I Think the coast to coast map has diffrent time Basically what i mean is that is scs Map it sets like 8-9pm but in coast to coast or any other map mod the sun set pretty early like 6-7pm, i noticed that on the earlier episodes too
Suppose you are talking about Alaska North the Future when you re talking about a payware Alaska mod ? If so then that's definitely a nice map, I have it too. Fair warning, upgrade your truck or you will not make it to Prudhoe Bay. I had to use a 8x4 drivetrain (with chain mod) and stick to a 13 speed as the 18 speed would just not shift up on my Kenworth W900.
I'm surprised at the speed limits for the trucks in North America, in Sweden where i live trucks are only allowed to go 55 mph or 90 kmh on Highways, or 50 mph or 80 kmh when using a trailer, just because the heavy load makes them hit harder in accidents.
My game is constantly crashing on the jamaica map when I get close to duckenfield hall and I try to fast travel back to the united states but it says my trailer is in no condition to travel I even have damage turned off
Sounds like a good plan, it's not like you don't have enough places to drive. :) I had one bug with that one as well. One particular port I kept going to would crash the game. It might need a bit more refining. Safe trucking. :)
Sure thing, here you go. (I'm not using all these mods, but the load order for them is what I am using.) docs.google.com/document/d/1Jxueh-xASCazl0-fwy1CI2qgZyNz0w0tawTyZqgD40k/edit?usp=sharing
Sorry, it's really hard to say why a game crashes with just that amount of info. It could be a mod load order conflict, it could be a bug with the mod, or it could just be something random. If it happens every time in the same place it might be something with the mod straining your computer at that spot, you might try lowering your graphic resolution for the game.
