I wanted to say I'm looking at each of your videos with great interest. You are showing in a really practical way how someone can make a guitar without fancy tools. (just sharp ones ... right - Thankyou sponsors). Thank you for spending the time to put together your videos and showing me how is can be done. I'm working on a Ukulele as a path way towards making a guitar. Much of what you are showing me here is being used on my project.

Beautiful wood... looking forward to see it pop when it gets some finish on it.

Absolutely loving this series. Having also recently built my own acoustic guitar, I've watched lots and lots of RU-vid videos and series on building. Your series is fantastic and amongst the best! Keep up the great work and I hope you continue to publish more in-depth videos as you build your 3rd guitar!

Thank you man I appreciate it! I'm kind of getting sick of guitar building right now and ready for something else... currently planning my next video series project. I'm sure I'll come back to guitar building in a few years though!

How to make the mark center for the bridge?

Nicely executed Adam! I prefer attaching the neck to the body using a Dovetail joint. A little bit more difficult but I think that it makes for a better playing guitar as it eliminates using screws/metal, at least that's what I have read. Anyway, very nice work thus far............... :)

What kind of glue did you use for the neck? Can it be heated up for removal "repair".
@AGuyDoingStuffAdam

Jarret Fournier just regular titebond... it’s supposed to be able to be heated and removed but that sounds hard... hopefully it’s somebody else’s problem by the time it needs adjustment!

Where did you get the idea to use that kind of neck joint? I always hear people arguing about which joint is better and what will make the guitar sound good. But I was playing a goodall guitar and it sounded great! They use that same neck joint and charge around 9k so there must be something to it

It's all opinion with necks! There was a company called Howe orme in the late 1800s that made guitars with adjustable necks. They are highly sought after and a lot of collectors and builders say they are the best guitars they've played. The neck is held on with a dowel and a hinge! Worth remembering with bolt on necks that when Martin started out the they didn't have the kind of nuts and bolts we have available now. So bolt on necks weren't an option

@oliver kenny yeah in starting to realize all the mysticism involved in making guitars to more I make them lol. A lot of the stuff is subjective, but a few things are set in stone

Damn, boy, don't you want to get as much heel-to-body contact as possible for a good tone? Honestly it looks as if heel is pressed to the body only on its outter contour, and not on the inside one.

Lexonn You want a tight fitting neck, so that it does not move around. Butt joints are used on cellos, violins, violas and so on, and have been used in guitar building for centuries. There is no transfer of “tone” from the neck to the body as such, none that I would consider relevant for the “tone” the box is a resonance chamber, but the neck has little vibration. If the neck was producing part of the sound, how do you suppose slide guitars work? The string is not touching the fretboard, in the case of a slide guitar. I’ve build plenty of instruments, some with a Spanish heel, some with a bolt on neck and some with butt joints similar to Adam’s. The loudest, and most resonant, mandolin I’ve ever made, has a butt jointed neck.
