While I was building my first canoe in 2015, I found myself wishing for more in depth instruction for some of the steps that I didn't have much experience with. That's when I came up with the idea of making my own comprehensive, sequential, fast paced, instructional video series documenting the entire cedar strip canoe building process. I spent 2016 making the canoe building series and shortly after decided to do a similar series about guitar building.
Making these videos is a lot of work but I really love presenting big woodworking projects in a way that shows they are accessible to the average person that wants to make something amazing. I love interacting with people that watch my stuff so feel free to comment on my videos or to contact me on Instagram!
I'm sold. It's gonna take me six months to prepare to build my canoe. I've got two cedar chests to build first. While I'm doing that, I've got to upgrade my table saw and get a whole bunch of clamps. Can't wait to get started. This time next year I should be able to say "yes" I built this.
and the secon they placed that layer this become another trash unrecycable and unusable, first nobody uses canoes, they use normal fishing boat, or if its already used modern tech like here in the end they will have motor boat. All this stuff cant be used it piles up in ship scrapyard you could say, also wind mills same and anything made , basically wood rots , but hull dont even change shape after all wood is gone
Thanks for this. Just finished caning a canoe seat. Is there some type of coating to apply to the cane that would keep it from drying out or add some toughness now that it's part of my canoe?
How do you fix the inner stern to stay out while glueing the strips to It ? Very nice videos and makes It look possible to build the canoe myself too, thanks ! Heikki from Finland
Invested in an entire suite of woodworking tools for Xmas. I used to weld weld up ship hulls for a living and once even helped build a paddle steamer. You have inspired me sir! This is floating poetry. Bravo!
Hi Adam , nice work! I noticed you are working the epoxy with uncovered hands... it is a good idea to wear gloves , as all epoxy should be considered toxic to bare skin.
