On the 28th of March, 1888, 39-year-old Ada Wilson was attacked at her home in Maidman Street, Mile End. The man responsible escaped from the scene of the crime and was, subsequently, never brought to justice.
Her ordeal would, no doubt, have been long forgotten were it not for the advent of the Jack the Ripper murders occurring later that year.
Some commentators now postulate that Ada Wilson may have been an early crime carried out by a perpetrator who went on to carry out the later Whitechapel murders.
In this video, we take a look at the crime - and at the scene of the crime as it is today - and present the case both for an against her having been a victim of Jack the Ripper.
Using contemporary maps, images and press clippings you will follow the story as it unfolded, and you will be able to assess all the evidence to arrive at your own conclusion as to whether or not Ada Wilson was a victim of Jack the Ripper.
