Levi swore to Erwin after Isabel and Farlan were killed, "You'll die by my hands." And what did Erwin tell him? "When the times comes to decide, do not hesitate or else you'll regret it."
Erwin also says that, if Levi does regret his decisions, he'll start letting someone else make the choices for him, and that the only thing left for him at that point would be to die. Lo and behold, Erwin, bogged down by his regrets, lets Levi make the choice, "Give up on your dreams and die", and I think he knew at that point that the old Erwin was gone. There was a kid, though, with the same look in his eyes as the Commander, but young and fresh, with just as powerful a drive. I think that's one of the main reasons Levi made the choice he did, and I don't think he ever regretted it.
Sounds like loss through victory. Sure, you reclaimed Shiganshina. But metaphorically, that was like killing 1 Titan and acting as if everything was fixed.
@@meissad2435 He was actually. A lot of people believe he rejected the serum, but this isnt the case, Erwin was no aware of what was going on around him, he was inmerse on his memories, thats why he raised his hand, because he was living the moment that set his dream over again.
@@warchiefvenomn7612 I also believe that Levi didn't want to resurrect Erwin. He thought that Learning the truth about Marley etc would disappoint him.
Armin is basically a young Erwin smith. But less tainted by pain and suffering comparatively. In every way he is the perfect spiritual successor to Erwin. And I think in death he even knew it. In his quest for knowledge he looked for answers and that was his dream. instead he found someone who would carry on mission in his place despite his death. Someone who was equally as capable and able to do things in his place. Armin was hope...
No one is like Erwin Smith. I believe that things went to hell after Erwin's death. The curren situation in the manga is because they lost Erwin's leadership.
@@Emy-fv5ny Erwin let himself go and became a Devil, but Armin clung onto something distant that he could use to fuel himself instead . The Ocean and his friends. Erwin's style of leadership was ultimately rooted in deceit and deception. In order to come to terms with the sins of his past he needed to make a bridge of corpses. Erwin is only so motivated because of his dream, a dream he says he values over the victory of humanity, so after discovering the secrets in the basement, his leadership would be far less effective. What I think is part of the idea here is that only evil can combat and destroy evil. We saw it with Erwin - he became a devil that was unforgivable in some eyes, but without him, humanity wouldn’t have progressed. I think Eren is doing something similar. He’s doing evil and wrong, but it’s an evil that needs to be done . Armin doesn't think this way. He takes pride in humanity and the here and now, and those are the steps required in order to progress in this world.
@@sebastians7806 Wow what a naive view! Being a militar leader is not easy, he has to send ppl die and that is something with which he had to live, but he did it without regret. I don't think his leadership would be less effective after knowing the truth, I believe he would finally have a real purpose, define enemy and clear view of the REAL game they were "playing".
@Private Weaver I disagree. Let's do a comparison between S1 and S3P2. In season 1, Armin could only watch in horror as Eren was eaten alive by a pure titan. In the Female Titan arc, while his intelligence was beginning to prove to be important to the Survey Corps, he could do nothing but watch as the Female Titan wreaked havoc, whenever it appeared in front of him. In S3P2, his intellectual capabilities heightened so much that if it were not for him, the entire Corps including Erwin would've been killed in action, due to the hidden titan shifters/titans. And there was of course the moment he decided to give up his entire life for Eren, Mikasa and the rest of humanity by allowing himself to be burned up by Bertholdt to serve as a distraction. It was tragic to see the character who had the most ambition to go outside the walls, almost die because of it. The saddest part is how much Armin blames his "inferior" body, which he does throughout the series. I knew I wrote waaaay too much but I'm trying to make a point here. While Armin's character development wasn't as drastic as Eren's, and he didn't have a gritty backstory like Levi, he is still a phenomenal character because of what he's done.
SuperMegaLamp that was when Erwin was merely a a squad leader. Ofc, leading many men in a large scale operations would cost lives. Look at Armin, his plan to reseal the wall took at least 300-500 men because it was a large scale operation.
Some people just want to insult the character. They forgot how useful that Armin did in the past. Save Eren, Jean, Sacrifice himself to fight Bert, Figure out traitors, Confidently speech to convince the military not to kill Eren, Wake Eren up to close the wall, Messing with Bert head about Annie to save Eren again. I get that in recent chapters he is real egghead I agree. but he did so much for the others.
Letteraly all the died characters should R.I.P because all of them are victims , we should raise the hat for Isiyama because he managed to write such epic story
RIP Erwin Smith. The man who gave everything for his dream, and gave his dream for humanity. Also shout out to Levi, the man who lost everything but till pushes forward for the sake of humanity.
@@gandalfthewei8043 *spoiler alert* . . . . . Shout out to Eren for sacrificed himself to stop the war between the world and give them peace , and to make his friends the new rulers of the new world while he just wanted to live a peaceful life with mikasa
I loved when Sasha and Connie were dragging Jean into the water and this song started playing. It was so beautiful. Reminds me of how Heaven will be a billion times better. But this was beautiful. Also when Connie was crying as well when they recovered Armin after he turned into the colossal titan. That was beautiful.
One of the best soundtracks in aot. It makes me feel like I've made it this far with the characters I so love through all the hardships and low points.
The whole episode of "Midnight Sun" was really excruciating af. I want both of them to live. I really do, but this is AoT and you don't usually have the luxury to choose both in the real world also. In the end, it's not even clarified if Levi made the right choice. Both people were ready to die.
From 1:50 onwards, that’s where this score hits new heights which I didn’t think the composer was capable of. What a genius to orchestrate something so chilling.
Everyone keeps shitting on armin, but to me he was the only choice left. Armin represents everything good in the cruel world of attack on Titan, he's a reminder of our dreams and our goals and is the only one who can bright our days after the numerous massacres that happen in aot. Erwin was a great commander, but armin has always being the one who made us keep watching because he's the only one who saw past the hate and gave us hope for a better future
However, he failed, miserably. Naiveth, even if good, it still something hardly inherent good for all, ignorance only leads to the abysm. Sometimes, am powerful and ambitious individual's wish might make more good for desperate people than a naive wish for something far alway. Erwin was someone who pursue a certain truth, and he was the only who gave hope to humanity while in that. In the moment he died in the name of humanity's survival, there was no one to maintain a common, logical hope for all, which leds Eren to do what he did, cuz, if there's no unified will, the extremist will do what he ought do.
I still remember the thrill I felt when I found out he was alive, honestly I have never suffered so much with a scene. Armin is and always will be one of those characters you can't help but love :´) ♥️
Armin's revive, is such a huge gift for Eren, Mikasa, Conny, Jean and Sasha. *Just the best gift ever after the biggest war* If I was there, I would cry harder because my friend alive!
I remember watching the finale of season 3, this music starts playing, Eren points over the sea while Armin holds his shell, and in that moment I felt that attack on titan is the most beautiful creation in human existence.
Oh god this picture you put kills me all of them crying of happiness to have Armin back ESPECIALLY Eren and Mikasa. All three been friends for a long time and if Armin did die, those two would feel parts of their other half had been cut off. They are inseparable😭😭😭😭
@@RaulHenriquez25 SPOILERS FOR ANIME ONLYS who are reading this! What the hell is that thing anyways? A parasite, alien, god, or all three? Is the thing and Ymir one and the same after fusing? Cause when Eren convinced Ymir to do her own thing, the creature showed up out of Eren’s body to attach itself to Eren’s head. So did Ymir become the creature, or is it the third player along with Eren and Ymir with the genocide plan? When Eren got blown up, the creature was trying to reunite with Eren, and Ymir was summoning past Titan shifters to protect Eren. If Ymir became the creature, both actions will make sense, but I’m just confused about that thing.
Dude, even though Berthold was a traitor, it’s still heartbreaking to see him die and beg for his life at the hands of Armins Titan. Even seeing the faces of Eren, Mikasa, Jean, and Connie is heartbreaking. Goddamn, I love this series. It’s not really a happy series, but man does it really make you feel on every emotional level. It’s got some really happy scenes in it, sad scenes, gruesome scenes, and scenes where you aren’t really sure who is the good or bad guy and these moments are why “Attack on Titan” is such an incredible series.
well, armin’s truly one of the best characters ever imo. now look what’s happening. poor armin, just let him, mikasa, and the rest who are still alive be at peace together :(
how do they just make the best music ever hands down what comes close to this idk i listen to so much music and this is just unbeatable aot has a few pieces that are just unrivaled in all of music
The saddest part about this is that most of the fandom wanted him to die and let erwin live, some even think that floch has erwin’s will, do you all not realize that erwin’s dream was the exact same dream that armin had? Seeing the outside world, erwin and armin dreamt of freedom, good freedom, they were not slaves to freedom like eren or floch, they just wanted peace.
There was a huge differenve between their dreams. Armin dream lied in the fact that he wanted to explore the world. Erwin dream lied in the fact he wanted to know the truth of world and what lies beyond the Illusion of security called the walls, something he was already beggining to deduct about when he was only little. After being choosen over Erwin, Armin finally made his dream true, and honestly, there wasn't much for his character after that. Which is curious, since what made Levi choose Armin over Erwin was the fact that he trough Armin's dreams could do better to humanity, a fatal mistake.
@@pezequilibradohace5anos538 Both Armin and Erwin dreams rellied in the question of breaking their chains free, but Armin was inspired mainly by Eren's will, while Erwin made his own will.
@@paonippobemduro yes but still, reviving Erwin made much less sense. I believe that Isayama came up with a great story and plot twist, but after that he did not know what to do with it, he could not create a good ending.
SPOILER 1:43 "You've waited this whole time.. For two thousand years you've waited for someone. anyone..." 2:49 Walls begin to crumble 3:05 *Time slows down as Gabi witnesses the beginning of the end.
@@shoaib5453 I never thought I would have to say this again. Gabi is a brainwashed child who is in the middle of a war at the age of 12. She watched two of her friends die, her other friend is now a shifter. Also, let me guess, you hate her because she killed Sasha 💀
I cried a lot when i read this part in the Manga, then i cried a lot ( again ) when i saw this in the anime ;__; it was very difficult to see how Eren and Mikasa want to save his friend even though if they fight against his captain Levi,
