This seems to be the most accurate/easy to understand sub for this song, so I'll lay my two cents about the meaning here (MANGA SPOILERS) - - _[The blink a second ago, the world left behind If he can shoot Tell him]_ This to me means that in a blink of an eye, everything changed. So much so, that a blink a second ago is drastically different from the now. It means that this individual is leaving the past and moving forward. "If he can shoot, tell him," is a trickier line, but the general idea is that if you have the chance, take it! If you can make a difference, do it! _[Countless birds that burn their feathers Sprinkle ashes and smile peacefully Won’t somebody please Tell the world that I was here? I will live on after my bones have turned to dust]_ The birds refer to people and the burning feathers is them withering away their freedom. Now (SPOILER) this could refer to Eren stealing the world's freedom and literally watching as he takes it away, however, since the next line insinuates that the "birds" are "smiling peacefully," I believe that it means that people are allowing their freedom to be taken. They (Elidans) are watching their freedom be stripped away, but are complacent because it means that they at least have a little peace (can also connect to the king's ideology within the walls) They are settling with the fact that they aren't free. "Won't somebody please tell the world that I was here? I will live on after my bones have turned to dust" These lines show that, even after dying, the memory of the person will live on. This personally reminds me of the scene when Erwin charged with the other soldiers towards the Beast Titan, and said that they entrusted others to remember them. _[A companion's voice who was swallowed and stepped on Is the reason why I cannot stop It thrusts our backs violently]_ Pretty simple, the loss that has been faced up until this point is what keeps people going; to avenge them/ to prove that their life wasn't in vain. Personally, even though this message can apply to any character/ any side, i think it holds more power with Eren and his group. I specifically can think of Levi and the "promise" that he made to Erwin _[If you run out of the spiral, he will go up and I will go down The moonlight that filled the pillars with light lit a faint memory It seems to be looking for him “We shall meet in that novel” The voice that leads me is like the ears The floating sea, this is the story you started]_ I'm not too sure who "he" is, but the spiral to me represents a cycle. If you escape the cycle/ the walls, then someone is bound to "go down." However, I actually have a more symbolic idea for this. This is not referring to two different parties, but just Eren himself. If he escapes the walls (which he did) a new Eren will rise, and the old one is left behind. We see this change in the beach episode. A "faint memory" that "seems to be looking for him" can be Eren and his ability to see what will happen in the future. However, it seems to be a specific memory, as the next line is a literal quote (perhaps one that we have not heard yet) “We shall meet in that novel.” The fact that the next lines reference "this is the story you started," makes me believe that this is Ymir's message to Eren "2000 years from now" and Eren fulfilling their dream of freedom, but also perhaps, we will finally be able to know what "that scenery" that Eren talked about looks like. I would love to hear other interpretations; thank you if you read this far lol

I really dont think this song is about Eren. In my mind this is about the thousands of victims the rumbling causes. "Please, somebody tell the world I was here. I will live on even if my bones are crushed". Its a song of the innocents killed by Eren. He only interrupts halfways to add that he will end the story that started. EDIT: My feelings have changed to this franchise. The ending left a bad taste in my mouth.

The thing that makes this song perfect is cuz of the mood it sets. Of course its doesnt come across as a happy ending 100% , but theres a moment that made u like , uncomfortable cuz some of those instrumental is just toying with ur emotions whether to like , vibe along or just feel scared and disturbed but at the same time , u can feel and hear the "niceness" of the song. Anyone else love the fact about how AoT openings and endings focus on what happens through the entire anime and not just that one season. And when you find yourself rewatching the openings and ending you start to slowly understand them, and all the foreshadowing in them. Honestly Attack on titan really is a complete work of art.
