I found the Stroke of Luck impossibles puzzle at Good Will a couple weeks ago and thought of this video. It's not a puzzle I would have normally chosen, but I couldn't pass it up for $3. I just finished it. The extra pieces definitely threw me off a little lol. It wasn't my favorite puzzle to do, but I'm feeling accomplished at finishing it now.

I just finished my hardest puzzle yet. BLUE KAZOO.. Nebula. I'm 73 and my eyes are not the best. So many dark upon dark. I really like the quality of their puzzles. This is my 1st of the Galaxy Series, and my 4th puzzle finished. Earth, Starry Wave and Color Wheel.

I got my first pair of glasses at age 3. If I don’t have a sharp lamp I get the worst headaches.i really want to do the Galaxy series, I hope it’s not too hard. All the best puzzling ahead.

@@charisma-hornum-fries Thanks! I have 3 lamps shining down. I can increase or decrease the brightness. Nebula was extremely hard for me. I am now doing Puzzle Twist "Welcome to KC." So many bright colors. I am loving it.

Back in the 90s my dad and I put together a circular JP that was all black and had 30 extra pieces. We saw it in a mall on vacation and decided to do it when we got home. It took about two weeks to finish (between me being in school and him working, and other things like church etc). It was sort of flatly satisfying to finish because like WOW it took a while but then it’s just a black circle… until you flip it over and it said GOOD JOB on the back! I didn’t know about it, and honestly my dad was the kind of guy that could figure out how to do that on his own time when I wasn’t home or in bed, but it made it 100x better

I did this puzzle on my TikTok. I was so excited to see your reaction to how all the extra 5 pieces are connected. It really made me sad because it was so easy to see which ones did not go with the puzzle! I wanted more of a challenge lol

I did the "Something Fishy" impossibles puzzle. Definitely not impossible. Interestingly, my 5 extra pieces all connected to each other and I could identify exactly where they were duplicates and fit into the puzzle.

I have something fishy at home as well! Haven't tried it since maybe 15 years ago when I was 10 and gave up pretty quickly. I've recently really been thinking about trying it again. I think this is the sign to do it!

My husband said they should make a puzzle with a repeating pattern and cut that actually loops around the edge, so you don't have a clear edge at all...like the top row could actually connect to the bottom row, and the left side could fit into the right side. That could be super interesting.

So happy to see you not ending up in the “what have I done”-puzzles once in a while. I have never done an impossible puzzle… (if it doesn’t count that I’ve given up on a couple of boring ones! ). The most challenging one to date was the bottom half of Scandinavian presence “the great prince”. Closing in on single colour…

Go get one, girl! If you're nervous about it being too much of a struggle, go for a lower piece count, a grid pattern, and/or blocks of color.

I have the Candy Land puzzle, and I had the exact same extra pieces. I agree that it definitely wasn't "impossible" as advertised. The hardest part was all the pieces falling apart when you move sections.

I have been working on an "impossible" puzzle that I bought from Dollar Tree. It's actually tough, for me, and amazingly good quality for being Dollar Tree. It's a 1000 piece puzzle.

Wow, that is some classic Y2K graphic design on the back of the first box - I'm sure I had some software that came in a box with that same typeface. It makes me quite nostalgic for my first mobile, which was a little pink Erikson flip phone of a similar vintage to that puzzle. I spend a fair amount of time trying to choose challenging but not frustratingly difficult puzzles, and I've discovered that the key for me is to go for designs with plenty of different textures, lots of colour, and little details. Anything with large areas of flat colours I find not so much difficult as a dull, chore-like experience - especially if it's a ribbon cut with standard piece shapes, requiring trial and error and a degree of sheer bloody-mindedness to complete.

LMAO I was like... why is no one making a puzzle brand/using the pun "impuzzable", I'm so happy you mentioned that in the end. Great mind think alike!!! Also I did the Minions one and it was no fun at all. I had to look up every single piece on the box and play "find the differences" which was exhausting. It took me 50-60hours and could only do 2/3 hours a day... do not recommend!! Although I would be curious how you would solve them and how long it would take you!!

I have done 2 of the Impossibles puzzles. The one with angel kittens on clouds on a blue background called 9 Lives and the Fourteen Carrot one which is gemstones on a yellow back ground. I found them fun but I definitely finished them in one day/sitting on my own. They are not as difficult as the 'Worlds most difficult' line which have double sided, rotated 90 degree printing. Those puzzles have fewer pieces and take longer for me.

Thank you Karen for all your videos! Thanks to you, I rediscovered my love for puzzling! In the past few months, I completed three 1000 pieces puzzles. I followed your advice of looking for gradient puzzle for the first time since they are easier. I chose 'New Skies' from the 'Inner Mystic' series from Heye (illustrated by Andy Kehoe) which offered a good balance between being easy and pretty to look at. Now, it's on my wall! Thank you again!

I have an impossible puzzle from the late 90’s. It is repeating gemstones on a yellow background. I did it with friends in college during finals study breaks. It was challenging enough that I decided I did not want to do it again and glued it together. A puzzle I found very challenging was Van Gogh Starry Night Photomosaics. I almost didn’t finish.

I had a few mystery puzzles from this brand when I was a kid -- loved them!! They had a fairly long story in a stapled booklet, compared to the short ones I've seen as an adult.

Amazing! We did the one with cows on it, it was EXTREMELY difficult because all the cows are black and white. I’m not sure if knowing the trick about sorting would help me with it now, but at the time it definitely felt impossible!

I also spot a difference between these two puzzles. The old one with phones, as the edge, has both kinds of ends (in's and out's), while the new one with candy only has in's.

I noticed that the edges of the phone puzzle were all "outies" and Candyland had all "innies." I wonder why they changed that? Love watching you do puzzles Karen. I have too many cats who like to toss puzzle pieces off the table, so I'm doing a 200 piece puzzle online daily. One thing that takes away the challenge is that all the pieces are presorted in the correct direction, which does make it easier to spot the one you need. Puzzle on!

I just completed this puzzle, i had the same 5 extra pieces. And spoiler alert, they all fit together! It made you think they must go somewhere in the puzzle right up until the last 10% of puzzling

Karen, I would be interested in a video where you share your insights on how you would go about creating a puzzle that truly is impossible to solve. I don't have it anymore, but I used to have a jigsaw puzzle based on outer space that was truly amazingly challenging. The puzzle was a large hexagonal board filled with hexagonal cutouts, so every piece could fit in every cutout 6 different ways. Like I said, I used to have it. I threw it out because I couldn't solve it and more likely because I outgrew them.

First, congratulations on turning pro! Pro-puzzler. Now that's a label! 🙂 To the puzzles, the older one is much easier to look at for me - the colors are less hard and bright. The new one, I can hardly see anything on it: It's too bright, the colors too harsh and too many colors are mixed together. I do have near-perfect color-vision, meaning I see all 3 colors equally as good as the others, so I just feel overwhelmed. That would make the new one a frustratingly difficult puzzle and a source of a mighty headache. Again, congratulations!

As always your puzzle videos are so entertaining. As a very casual puzzler, entirely due to the pandemic but it stuck, if I see the word "impossible" there is NO CHANCE that I will be selecting it. However, despite that reason for not picking them, both of these puzzles have a graphic that attracts me in puzzle selection which are definite and specific contained images that I can use to guide my solutions. But I really don't like puzzles that don't stay together well when you're moving them around. Often you won't know that unless someone else has done it and warns you. Congratulations on your dedicated channel!

The difference between a challenging puzzle and a difficult/frustrating puzzle seems like the difference between a mystery and "I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 500" with no more sophisticated questions allowed. The mystery has clues carefully designed to give you what you need to solve it, while the guessing game has "Is it 5? Okay, is it 63? How about 497?" Hmm… I thought it was a stronger comparison before I started typing it out lol. I feel like there's something there, though 😂

I like puzzles but I certainly am not a pro, and for Christmas my parents got me the Jelly Belly "pile of beans" puzzle.. and I worked on it for about 4 hours and made so little progress I boxed it back up and started a new one. Couldn't do it!

Some coworkers and I did one of the older Impossible Puzzles a few years back, The Great Wall of China design, and enjoyed it very much. On ours, the extra pieces fit together as their own mini five piece puzzle.

I did one from the 90s, it had cherubs all over it. It was more difficult than these ones I'd think, as it had decently sized areas of just blue sky and the cherubs were different sizes and at odd angles.
