You are not even obligated to visit the bride and bridegroom unless you are part of the close circle. The actual wedding ceremony with core rituals is simple and finishes within an hour and can be done at home or in a temple. People always look forward for a wedding within close circle and family. In the end you get very few invitations over decades.

After the Ambani's pre-wed assemble.... people will certainly look for it. - But, many people are using paid Russian guests for hire, at their wedding. So it won't be the 1:1 ratio for 10mill weddings, but certainly even a fraction of shift by few would open new Avenue for cultural influence and soft power, which Tourism won't buy at face value, what those reels and pics could do at individual social media accounts!

All affluent and higher middle-class families spend a fortune on wedding and opulence. Not that the middle class and lower middle class don't spend. You will still get great food minus the opulence. Wedding a way of treating family and friends with gifts, food and enjoyment at one go. Many attendees are not even obligated to visit the bride and bridegroom unless part of the close circle. The actual wedding ceremony with core rituals is simple and finishes within an hour and can be done at home or in a temple. People always look forward for a wedding within close circle and family. Most Forin influencers speak of "India" as though it's a tiny country with just one culture probably because their own country has only one cultural pattern. A Punjabi wedding should be called a Punjabi wedding ; Gujarati wedding should be called a Gujarati wedding. Before rushing into uploading themselves for publicity all such uploaders need to update their GK first - An influencer should not make other ignorant viewers assume Punjabi or Gujarati represents the entire sub continent.
