@@peterortiz1160 Walmart/Amazon would be my guess. Were caught by Nintendo shipping/giving the games out early. Since Nintendo asked them specifically to not do physical presales.
I also dont understand why people think Nintendo cant track which game goes where. They do keys in batches... even for physical. Everything is done in batches. They know when someone tries to access the data of a physical or digital game. They know the serial number of the game can look up where that batch was sent to. This is why Nintendo is slow at producing physical product. They are doing an old school method that produces the best accurate results. People always act surprised or shocked that Nintendo knows when you are leaking the game.... how they find out... not that hard. They find the batch/es involved. ask the store why the game was released early against the contract with Nintendo.... then the store just provides them the information instead of facing a lawsuit from Nintendo.
@@malikgray6615 quick explanation on why this is possible it could help with scalpers... (could be inefficient too though) scalper will always try to preorder lots of stock in advance to then hope that theres shortage to then be able to sell it overpriced. so by making preorder more limited, it could help on that aspect.
I’m glad Amazon & Walmart chose to cancel preorders if it means eliminating scalpers. People can wait to buy their 1 copy on release day. End of story.
I also preordered a physical copy on Amazon. Good thing I noticed they cancelled a few weeks ago. I now preordered from Target because my Red Card made it a little cheaper than GameStop. The shipping label was created and should arrive on Thursday! Edit: Just noticed Target preorders sold out. Hope everyone wanting the physical copy can grab it!
I’ve actually been to a Walmart in the past and for games like Pikmin 4, Super Mario Party etc. they have had the games available 2 days beforehand! I was super surprised and kind of confused lol but yes it definitely has happened
I preorder mine from Best Buy. I had times when Best Buy text me pickup was ready a day before release but Best Buy system wouldn’t let the cashier give me the game. 🤣
I wana say this is Nintendo’s fault not the individual sellers themselves Nintendo knows what there doing it’s just Greed humans are indelible when it comes to Greed ! And this is a prime Example. For me honestly I would just buy the GameCube version and play it that way it’s just to much of a hassle
No they ONLY want to make money. They know you will buy the digital copy regardless so why would they spend money to build physical? It’s just another unnecessary liability on the books when they could be putting it on the pile.
What’s sad is we as fans are still under the impression that the companies are going to cater to their fans when they couldn’t care less about anything other than more money. Bare minimum maximum revenue. Remember they literally just re-released WiiU games on the switch for full price and they are the exact same games. They have been selling the same Mario kart game for 12years for full price.
@@joesshows6793 guess u did not see that they said themselves they where not stoping physical releases this has nothing to do with that nintendo wants u people to stop being lazy and go to the store to preorder
Going to your local store that sells video games should not be considered a struggle. I think it's great Nintendo has done that and made people get off their butts and get out
Definitely agreed, I always preorder and pick up physical games from my local GameStop. In fact I usually go early and arrive just before the store opens so I could get my copy ASAP, rather than having to wait for it to arrive in the mail, or worry about any possible shipping delays.
How exactly is walking into a physical brick and mortar store a struggle I pre-ordered mine at GameStop physically in the store like a month ago and there’s nothing wrong with my pre-order
If anything, they promoting old fashioned "go to the store and pick up game when it launches" form of game selling. Honestly, the whole "pre order" thing has become a cancer in the gaming industry; with the whole reseller situation.
They canceled my pikmin 4 order twice Refunded my card both times..... Then sent me both orders and the pre-order bonus.....gratis LOL Wal-Mart is a shitshow
I can only assume Nintendo are tired of Walmart and Amazons bullshit of promoting scalping but also constantly breaking street date at first it wasn’t that bad but now it’s gotten worse
I live in Europe, and I usually buy from Amazon Germany or local stores and there is no problem with stock or pre-ordes. I place my preorder from a local store and is still on track. Maybe just Amazon US is having that issue😐
All I know is I better see my copy of Paper Mario TTYD next week, that I pre-ordered 2 months in advance! And this is coming from someone who very rarely pre-orders games, especially from GameStop!😐
I honestly don't remember the last time I pre-ordered a game. The last Switch game I bought was Tears of the Kingdom, and I was able to just go inside Target about an hour after they opened, and not only did they have a bunch of copies on the New Releases endcap, they also had a main aisle display that was filled with copies that you could just grab and take to the checkout. Of course, this example isn't always the case. Games that aren't as hyped as Tears of the Kingdom was do tend to have much less inventory shipped out to stores. Still, if you want a physical copy, you can usually find a store nearby that has it in stock on release day.
If NOA is going to play games de-prioritizing availability of physical in order to boost download sales, then just import, costs about the same anyway.
I wonder if lower production runs, is because they are also starting production runs for the Switch successor games that will be available at launch. If the following console is not backwards compatible, then they may be releasing a bunch of these games on that system too, or they just think that people aren't going to want these games when the next system drops. As for "Ounce" it's believed that this is the project code for the Switch successor, because that word has popped up several times in some of the Switch firmware updates. Here in Australia though, it seem there's no issues ordering Thousand Year Door. It's still available at all retailers as of writing this.
Well since you wanted to know according to famitsu endless ocean luminous had already sold over 28,000 copies in just it's first 3 days of being on the market from May 2 to May 5.
My GameStop here locally in Southern California told me they would have limited preorders so I'm so glad I preordered my physical copy a few weeks ago. This game will be huge and the demand for physical copies will be high.
I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret and... I probably shouldn't; But if you really want any kind of high demand video game or electronic device on release day... Travel to a local Walmart or similar store in a small town, they will have an allocated amount of said merchandise available and you won't have to wait in any lines.
Nintendo has me wondering on this one. It is not just Amazon either. You can't pre order a physical copy anywhere not through Walmart not through Target not even Nintendo themselves are pre ordering this. When you go to their store it says you can pre-order the digital version but when you select the physical option it just says available on May 23rd. Normally it will prompt you to pick what store you wish to order from, but not with this one.
QVC has a physical copy that takes an extra week or two to ship but you can take advantage of thier deal where if you have a new account the games $20 off
Ive gotten games from amazon pretty early in the past. Nintendo games were often like a few days to a week late while other games were often at least a few days early.
People shouldn’t get so angry about the situation. In fact if your with Walmart, you can just buy a cheap game or get an accessory with the extra 25 dollars.
I believe this is done so Nintendo could potentially stop scalpers from buying all stock, for me, it's not a big deal as I enjoy the activity to visit a physical store to buy my physical media, also, I read that Nintendo may implement a Software Solution with their online stores to prevent this exact activity, and to prevent copies sent to customers earlier than intended.
The local game store I go to got in like 60 copies or more. I’m not sure it’s that hard to just go out and get it now as opposed to having pre ordered it.
0:32 Scalpers are a factor I bet Also you can just not be lazy and go in person. Also Walmart and Amazon have given the games early before to a common degree
@@mingo675 they are limiting physical only as preorder, and yes, scalper do preorder big numbers in advance to try to have all the stock. so its possible its an inneficient way to try to curb scalping.
3D All Star... Likely selling the 3 games individually for 80 to 90 dollars so limit the sales. You know Nintendo is all about the resale value of old games to the next gen.
I'm surprised people care to buy physical copies. It's so much more convenient to have all your games downloaded on the system and not have to switch them out.
I have a few theories. First one is piracy because they always overcompensate when it comes to piracy. Makes no sense but if people are breaking street dates and dumping the games online, then I can see how that could be the case. The other theory I have is simply them moving away from manufacturing switch carts because they are going to a different kind of format or cartridge for Switch 2. So they are just not bothering with it much. 2. Is probably more likely than 1 but we can never rule 1 out even if it makes no real sense lol.
Basically there's nothing really interesting in the Switch forecast this year and for that reason every Nintendo fanboy was hyping up 'Endless Ocean'. But once they played it, it was pretty much 'eh'.
it's selling too well and it hurt egos at nintendo that thought paper mario could only have generic characters and not unique ones and that nobody likes rpg paper marios.
I think they are simply scaling back Switch 1 production, including game cartridges, and ramping up the successor consoles and cartridges. It's an awkward transition period. Maybe.
Can’t we just…go buy it in-person on launch day? Is it really that much of an inconvenience to physically go to a store to buy a physical game? Is it really “difficult” or a “struggle” to just buy a video game the same way it could be bought back in…2010? I’ve gotta be missing something here.
I think Shigeru Miyamoto is keeping a low print run to inflate the prices. He is planning to sell his sealed copies later on eBay. He will make a lot of dough. Something like $200 a pop!!!
Endless Ocean was is pretty good. I'm hooked on it because it's completely different from everything else. It's a no e change of pace, and very relaxing.
Maybe if Nintendo used better hardware their stuff wouldn’t be so easy to emulate. I can’t get some ps2 and PS3 roms to even work, yet GameCube and Wii games are no problem. Pretty much all their systems and games are no problem to run
Nintendo is so worried about piracy they don't even wanna sell their own games to ppl. Lol, they're like that kid you know who brags about having the new toy that nobody in the neighborhood has but never shows you the toy or let's you play with it. Nintendo, get off your high horse.
Only in the US. It sucks but it's not worldwide. My friends in the UK and Canada don't have this problem and same for me in my country (I'm in Europe). Amazon did not cancel anything.
The profit return on new Physical games is pretty low for retailers. I can see them not wanting to risk a loss.On the other hand, it is a preorder. Who knows
Basically, some people got yelled at by Japanese Headquarters over Zelda ToTK and Mario Bros Wonder leak. So now they are overcompensating. "ZOMG if we don't stop people from SPOILING A Thousand Years Doors, we are going to get yelled at again...." -_-
I'm guessing the benefit of Nintendo even having any pre-orders helps them know how many people want to buy it. Also I'm guessing Nintendo is leaning towards people buying digital from now on so they don't really want to have to invest in making the physical version of it.
Nintendo has made a lot of bizarre/bad decisions over the past couple of years. I feel like something has changed behind the scenes that we don't know about yet.
Can't remember who originally coined it, but this is what's called a "Nintendo Move". Where they do something so out of the blue, that it only makes logical sense to whatever's under Miyamoto-san's quaff. Nintendo has always been super touchy about releases though, even back to the NES era. Which is why PlayStation is even a thing to begin with.
Well imma be real but I’ve learned whenever you hear that a game like this is coming out that same day you go to GameStop online and pre order it immediately don’t play just do it. You’ll have the money by then for sure it’s going months and months ahead.
