me doing a school project on this: me: hm, why does this sound so familiar? me: atua.... atua..... *gasp* AT U A i feel really bad because the dub turned god into atua and now its depicted as a cult :/
YES ANOTHER DR FAN Also I liked how when someone was playing the game she described him as a black hair red eyed god, and the person was like “m8 that’s Kamakura 🗿🗿”
I think it sucks because now when someone says "atua" theres always atleast one person on the internet that says "anGiE" Yeah i love danganronpa but yeah
You know that some people are doing this for a history exam right? So stop commenting about Angie and know that this is a REAL god. Yes i'm a Danganronpa fan too but y'all need to stop with Angie.
@@koushisawamura7010 you learned about atua from angie who is rom danganronpa but you didn't find this video/ search up this video because of angie-? hUh--
I really wish people would realize that what Danganronpa did with Atua and Angie was really not okay. Angie’s character was not Polynesian, and in the Japanese dub it was just god, due to the belief that god can have many forms and such. The Danganronpa English dub replaced god with Atua, and basically treated it like a religious cult the entire time, and now the fandom is full of jokes about it. They don’t even realize it’s a real beautiful thing that doesn’t deserve to be treated like a joke. It’s serious problem that has been going on since the games came out and it really needs to cool down. If you are going to make a joke than please look into it more and be more aware of the true beauty instead of making it just a stupid joke.
All of you here because of DR, please PLEASE don't make fun of Atua because of Angie. It's a real religion and think about how they feel with their religion being known because of an anime.
@@itsxkiii5621 I have to agree, but if Angie’s traits of being “Polynesian” (not characteristics, traits, just given skin color to look Polynesian, but she’s not) and just being excruciatingly obssessed over Atua weren’t there, then there wouldn’t much comments similar to this that would be published. It’s kind of annoying that Angie’s characteristics are too manipulative to be satirical of an actual religion, which explains why she’s a hated character to people who believe the real “Atua”. People would sometimes accept Angie and the “Real Atua”, but sometimes you would see people just be satirical and impetuously put something about Angie instead of “Atua” like this one. It’s annoying, but its not the only comment, so it’s just because Angie herself manipulated these people to think satirically, or humuorously…
I did not know atua was a real god I thought the danganronpa creators made it up, and now that I know what atua really is, I now find it completely disrespectful how the danganronpa creators treated it like a religious cult and represented it really badly, don’t get me wrong I do love danganronpa, but what they did in v3 is pretty insulting to the Polynesian culture or to anyone out there who’s Polynesian and now I hate how the fandom is being completely disrespectful to atua by making jokes about it, and when I looked up atua on google images, it was all just pictures of Angie :(
Thank you for this document. Oh and to clarify, atua is not a god, atua is the word for "god" in many Polynesian languages and yet even that translation is not really accurate as atua are finite supernatural beings, they don’t follow the same concept of divinity as the christian god. There are many gods (atua) and they all share the same primordial essence as we humans do. Now you all know. ‘Ia ha’amaita’i mai i te mau atua ia tātou 🙏
Very good explanation. I'm from maori descent and I've just learnt this same understanding. God was the closest word the colonizers could use to describe atua and also to prove that we were evil idol worshipping savages that needed civilizing, but you are right. Atua and God are not the same.
@@Huhh_What exactly i am a fan of danganronpa but holy god they are taking over the comments of this video like please fucking chill fr? some people need it for an essay or research they have to do
Interesting video, thanks for sharing it to the world. I don't know why us islanders are fighting eachother with argument, although there is a lot of truth coming from Tahitians, Samoans and Tongans. We should have a little more respect for eachother, than feuding over who has been / is bigger and better. Europeans try to claim that we polynesians are unaware / ignorant of why there are ancient structures, such as the stepped pyramids in Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti and Hawai'i. They are wrong, we do know, and for myself I've found (besides Tongan oral history) numerous cultural similarities between Tonga and Ancient Egypt. Yes Egypt. Some early Europeans did touch on the Tahitian's word "Rā" for sun, and claimed it as just coincidence. They left it at that. I have personally found 40 Tongan words that either have the same Egyptian meaning, or have the same pronunciation, but slightly different meaning. Speaking of which the name of this video is "ATUA," it is also ancient Egyptian, meaning "to worship." So rather than fighting with eachother, lets research the peculiarities of our Polynesian community, and seek out the numerous hidden information that our ancestors were aware of. Now I'm not saying we are Egyptian, as we polynesians know that we are a mixture of different cultures, pre-christianity. Here is a small list of Tongan to Egyptian word similarities.. *Fai - To do.. Tongan/Egyptian *Sai - Fine, satisfied.. Tongan/Egyptian *Tā - Hit, smite.. Tongan/Egyptian *Mimi - urine.. Tongan *Mimi - fountain.. Egyptian *Ali'i, Ari'i - Chief.. Hawaiian/Samoan Tahitian *Ari - Chief.. Egyptian *Fafasi - wavy hair.. Tongan *Fasi - waves.. Egyptian *Teketeke/Tetetete - tremble.. Tongan *Tekhtekh - tremble.. Egyptian That's just to name a few. One day, all will be revealed. 'Ofa lahi atu kiate kimoutolu..
Ancient Egyptian is not a vowel heavy language having only 3 vowels long U, short A and E. Like other afroasiatic languages very gendered in it's vocabulary, only think it has in common is being isolating/analytical meaning each separate word is modified by the next with inflecting grammatical markers.
Bruh, Atua is an actual godly ideal. ATUA IS NOT A CULT ATUA IS NOT A VIDEO GAME This kinda pisses me off because the translation used this actual god to portray something that Atua is not. It's rude. It's insensitive. s t o p memeing Atua

I can't fucking take it. I see an image of a teddy bear posted and then I see it, I fucking see it. "Oh that looks kinda like Monokuma" it started as. That's funny, that's a cool reference. But I kept going, I'd see a Seesaw that remind me of Kiyo, I'd see a russian roulette with a gun that remind me of Nagito, I'd see a scissors that Remind me of Genocide Jack. And every time I'd burst into an insane, breath deprived laugh staring at the image as the words Despair ran through my head. It's torment, psychological torture, I am being conditioned to laugh maniacly any time I see some pink liquid. I can't fucking live like this... I can't I can't I can't I can't I can't! And don't get me fucking started on the words! I'll never hear the word punishment again without thinking of Danganronpa. Someone say something incorrect and I can't say anything other than "NO THAT'S WRONG!" I could watch a man murder everyone I love and all I would be able to say is "you are the culprit" and laugh like a fucking insane person. And the word "Hope" is ruined. The phrase "Tell them" is ruined. I can't live anymore. Danganronpa has destroyed my fucking life. I want to execute myself. MAKE IT STOP!

@@amortiguada its not our fault we're the only people here in 2021 at our age who knows what atua is from, not originally and your pfp is literally that religious AtUA kNows EverYTHing freak named angie yocacca
@@koushisawamura7010 first of all i am learning about religions in the terms of Polynesia in social studies. i am also in high school FYI. and second, why don't you just stop attacking people its very childish. do you want a golden star or something? do you want me to care? because i don't. The comments are mostly danganronpa fans because of that concerning atua obsessed maniac named angie who thinks atua will solve every murder case and its interesting to know about who atua actually is. i thought it was made up just like the fictional characters in danganronpa. But i was wrong. It in NO WAY is disrespectful to bring up a fictional show that has a character who isn't Japanese and who is apart of the culture that has to do with religion and atua and that's why angie isn't Japanese in the first place. you cant be offended when you don't even care about atua and the religion and Polynesia culture. Its disappointing having to deal with dramatic ignorants like you when we didn't say anything offensive nor racist towards the religion atua is from. you need to take a chill pill because you misunderstood the whole point of peoples comments. they thought atua was fake but it wasn't. also they and I cant help but to think of danganronpa and angie when we here atua because no one in todays world hears about atua or Polynesia at all. its 2021. you need to calm down. no one is offending you or atua or any Polynesian religion/culture/cult. We aren't worshiping no devil. all we are saying is that atua is from a show that isn't very common to the anime community actually. Even though you and others might think danganronpa has nothing to do with the title or this video, think again. One single character out of all 48 in danganronpa, is a religious non-japanese character created to be in a Polynesian culture that has something to do with worshiping atua and angie always mentioned atua every 5 seconds. she always said "atua knows everything" and that might as well be true but then again she might have just been hallucinating or something- and danganronpa therefore, has a character that is all about the culture and religion of atua. so at least 5% of danganronpa has something to do with atua, due to one of its extremely religious characters. so before you complain or rant or say something quite annoying do your research and be more educated next time. not sorry for the long paragraph
