Hey ! I get asked all the time to do some more gear related videos so here is Pt 2 of my ATV Essentials. Obviously the amount of tools you bring depends on how much room you have and you know if something breaks you will need some specific tool that you forgot to pack but here's some of the things I bring with me.
I hope you like the video, remember to LIKE + COMMENT + SUBSCRIBE ! Sharing my video really helps also.
Thanks !

I have the luxury of a polaris front storage rack. The tool I use the most, hands down, is my cruiser single bit axe. Seems like when I carry a chainsaw I don't need it. But, whenever the saw stays at home I have windfalls that are too long or heavy to move. Usually just one cut thru and winch out of the way and you're back on the go.
@Maritimer
@Maritimer Год назад
Hey Gary ! Yes that polaris design is really nice with the storage in the racks, very smart and they have been doing it for years ! Saying that I like the look of metal racks better.... so I dont know what to think haha Yeah man most of the time you dont need a chainsaw, my folding buck saw will cut through eveything, it's a bit more work but work never killed anyone. thanks for watching !

I also carry fencing plyers, works as a hammer as well. I carry some rubber cement for the tire plugs, makes the plugs slide in easier. I carry a folding shovel as well. and dont forget the toilet paper. Pretty soon we will need a trailer to carry all of our gear with us.

Another great video. A few years ago I was out riding and punched a loonie sized hole in my aluminum rim. Big horn tire unscathed. I ran the rim for another two years patched with JB Weld. It’s now an essential part of my tire repair kit.

When I 1st started riding 25 yrs ago. I carried a bunch of tools tire repair kit. And today none of that stuff ever gets taken. Cuz over the yrs none of it was ever used on the trail. Do good maintenance replace tires before there bald has been the key to no problems on the trail. And we have some of the most rocky steep an rough terrain in the western US.

Hey there!… Quaddingsous recommended i check you out. So, instant subscribe! 👍.. we were talking about things just like this to take with you on the trails. I have a 2009 Honda Foreman, i love it! Years ago i had a Grizzly 660, Great machine but I’ve always come back to Honda. Anyways, first aid kit is a good one i never thought of. A couple things you may want to add would defiantly be is, TP in a zip-lol bag.. its happened before 💩 lol and i have my Stihl saw mounted on a chainsaw press on the front but i also carry a folding saw, like a pruning saw. You also mentioned bungee straps, I’ll definitely grab those too. Thanks for the info!.. btw, I’m in Pennsylvania .. I’m 53 and still a kid at heart. Nice vid as usual. I live not far from your town of Dieppe and I'm working on getting another quad to hit all the awesome trails in NB. Something I usually carry is a small axe, small folding saw and a small fire starting kit you never know when you may need to get a fire going or do a little trail clearing. Of course on a stock quad storage is never enough if any at all but is so important. I wish more quads had better stock storage available as a standard option the best out there I think is Polaris with their front flip up rack but even that is not enough. It is the first thing every one with a quad needs to purchase or make something themselves.

Great way to start the day with a coffee and a Maritimer vid :)). Good review of your tool kit, appreciate you taking the time to run through it :). Something that I carry with me in my kit is a good little bundle of haywire, comes in super handy for tying up things say if a zip ties or the para cord won’t do the trick, anyways something to consider, I usually take along some thin gauge type and a small bundle of heavy gauge wire too. Good video, I keep a few mor items, I have a sportsman, so I have a large area under the front rack to store stuff, I keep some deicer and some brake cleaner, in my kit. My bike is getting a little older and my brother has the same type of bike, so we both have a few spare parts with us, I have a few items that our bikes are know to have go like the kill switch, extra coil, ignition switch and also if I have changed tie-rods and the old one still are not too bad, I have them in their in case one of us hits somethin and bends one. I probably have too much, but like you said, it is good to be prepared.

Always curious to see what other people have in their tool kit. So many good ideas out there....if we put them all together you would have a 53 foot semi trailer in back of the grizzly!! I give a lot of importance to my folding saw . No other tool will perform like a saw when it comes to dealing with wood like fallen trees in the trail, fire wood or improvised bridge. I buy the Buckner at Pro-Nature stores on special for 10.00$. They cut like crazy and since they are low priced...I never break them or lose them !! contrary to what would happen if I had a Silky !! Thanks man for showing us your tool kit. Can't wait for your next adventure, Take care.

Thanks! That is a lot of tools to bring! You hit all the basics. I would skip the socket sets and maybe just bring key sizes like 10, 12, 14, 15, 17mm and would not bring the deep sockets unless there was a specific application that might require them. The only thing to maybe add is a folding saw and some mechanics wire, but between the gorilla tape and wire ties, you have that covered. I assume you will have a part three on spare parts to bring along? I carry a spare drive belt and a synthetic winch rope (even though I use a steel cable in my winch).
@Maritimer
@Maritimer 2 года назад
Hey man ! Thank you ! yeah deep sockets was all I could find at the time. I dont really bring extra parts, and Yamaha Belt drive is sort of known for not breaking belts, people get 20,000km on the stock belt. so I just dont bother with it. Nice video that covered a lot! Like you said, it depends on carrying space.... but, if there were room, I'd add: hammer, bailing wire, voltmeter, flashlight, and a tow strap (I know you mentioned ratchet straps, but they are not designed for towing/pulling another ATV/vehicle back to camp). Cash (always good to be able to offer when someone helps out). And, of course, modern tech: Cell phone, debit/credit card (for calling and paying for roadside assistance). I often mention Garmin inReach and HAM radio for more communication options (I count them as tools). :) Really enjoying the series and can't wait for the next topic. Cheers! Pete - KI7LIL

@@Maritimer Haha, I've got to be patient and not get all of the topics confused and mixed up with each other. Really good stuff and series of videos. I like the Garmin inReach... I go camping alone often outside of cell range and it has never missed sending/receiving a message. It's also reassuring for my wife to know she can log-in to my account and see exactly where I am at any time. It's subscription based but worth it (to me, anyway) to have that communication option if/when needed. Check it out some more and I think you'll find it's worth having for yourself. I would be interested in a video about how you mounted your rotopax and why you chose the 1.75 gal over another size.
@Maritimer

I thought i was over prepared haha , my wifes Grizzly has the same rear box to were are you putting everything doesnt give you a lot of room for other items ? I prefer the box on the front keep the extra weight on the front axel and i also carry 2 small 10L dry bags 1 for food/stove/pots/coffee , 2bag rain gear an spare clothes either up front or on the rear sides of my Frankie seat haha , going to move the power saw up front and add a front bumper to get more weight up front for our terrain this year

Hey !! I know man, I think I might be a bit crazy haha Oh it sounds like you guys are prepared ! I just keep everything in my rear storage box in another tough canvas bag.
