Thanks for checking out the video! This is a topic I've been asked to make a video on countless times and I finally got around to doing it. People often ask me what kind of gear, tools or spare parts I bring riding with me. Here is a basic breakdown and overview of my "RZR Gear Box" and whats in it. By no means is this perfect and by no means is this a one size fits all solution but I do believe it should be a good resource to get you started on assembling your own Off-Road Gear Box. Like I mention in the video some of the items in your gear kit will be specific to the machine you drive and some are universal. Leave a comment and let me know what you think of the video and if you think I've missed some key items let me know. For starters I forgot to mention a hammer and the fact that I also usually have a nice flashlight and knife in the kit. What do you guys carry in your machine at all times?

Did I miss you saying a snake bite kit Plus ziplock bags are great to use as a CPR barrier
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 5 лет назад
Stacy Reid a snake bite kit is a great idea. Not really a necessity for where we usually ride but I should definitely add one in for our trips down south. Excellent tip. I don’t know how well a ziplock bag would work as a CPR barrier. The biggest feature of a CPR barrier is usually the one way valve and filter that prevent backflow of air and bodily fluids into the mouth of the person performing CPR. New updated CPR guidelines also state that you can basically skip the breathing portion of the CPR. There is enough oxygen in the blood to sustain the brain for quite some time and the compressions alone will pull in and expel enough air mechanically to effectively oxygenate the brain as long as compressions are being done properly. The updated guidelines state that you only need to do rescue breathing if you have the proper barrier device to protect you or you know the victim and feel comfortable breathing without the barrier device. It is better to focus on good compression technique and making sure the airway is open while periodically checking for breathing and a pulse then focusing on also adding the step of rescue breathing into the equation, especially for inexperienced individuals. I’ve done compressions multiple times in a healthcare setting and it’s quite a bit of work, especially when there is a ton of other stuff going on. Even well trained healthcare providers can easily make mistakes and go too fast, too slow, too shallow or too deep on compressions. Sorry for the long explanation. Excellent points though. I’ll be looking into getting a snake bite kit.

I have most of the stuff you listed off but I have a coupleof things I need to add now. Thanks for the ideas. The things I have that you don't include a battery jumper box, snatch block, tree saver, Ratchet straps (for broken suspension) Bungee cables, compact shovel, power drill, and full first aid kit vs pieces of one. I also carry my gopro cameras and batteries and drone in my box. However my box is larger so I have the extra room.

I like you doing this it helps a lot of people that don't go prepared.
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 5 лет назад
Thanks Stacy, one thing for everyone to remember is a team is only as strong as it's weakest link. Going prepared is part of your responsibility, especially on a longer adventure. When your machine falls apart 3 hours into a trail ride and you didn't bring any supplies to help remedy your issues you force that responsibility on others. That's not fair to the group. That's not to be misunderstood as me saying that the group doesn't want to help or that the group will leave you there. We have a tight knit core riding group and we never leave a rider down. Everyone will stop what they are doing to help. However, we go out to ride, not wrench on someones machine on the trail all day because they weren't ready for the ride in the first place or prepared to deal with even a minor issue after it happened. Machines break down and sometimes things don't go according to plan, no one will hold that against you. However, many issues can be fixed quickly with just a few basic tools and many can be completely avoided with proper planning. Having to tow a machine out of a nasty spot is also hard on the machine, leading to collateral damage and it's hard on the people extracting you. In our group if someone needs a longer tow out of the trail and its hard on the tow vehicle the person needing the tow will buy the tow vehicle a new drive belt as a courtesy. Most of the time towing a machine through trails which require 4X4 to get into will damage the belt of the machine trying to tow someone out. Many of these sport machines aren't intended or clutched to tow anything. It's really hard on them.

I keep less of everything to stay light and compact, but I'm always hoping someone has more gear than me, lol. I carry more of the winching and recovery side of the gear. Its impossible to have a perfect box but I ride with guys that literally take nothing. Thats completely amateur. Good informative video.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! This is a great time of year to start getting the "Trail Emergency Pack" restocked! You had a couple of items that will be a good addition to our kit also. I will now need a larger water seal-able tub to hold it all and keep it clean and dry. You did miss one small item in a bush saw of some kind. If you do carry an actual hatchet you may want to look at a Zippo AxeSaw or Multi-Function Camping Axe (w/shield) with Saw & Firestarter combo (Amazon: Axe saw) to round out your kit with the least amount of extra space! PS, Love to see more about the MK4 and 280Z. ;)

Hey papabare N, glad you found the video informative! Damn, your right! I have a nice fold up bow saw that I should have in there! Good suggestion, I'll be adding that for sure. I've always been into being over prepared. I think in the off-road world it's a good trait to have. It's also saved me a bunch of times in my vehicles. I always carry tools in my cars and trucks too in case something happens. Ill check out that axe saw on Amazon. Once the weather warms up a bit I'll do a video on the VW Track Car and the Datsun 280ZX.

Best burn remedy is to carry some packets of yellow mustard, and aluminum foil. Rub the mustard on the burn and then wrap the area with aluminum foil. Saran Wrap will work as well. The mustard provides a natural pain remedy for the burn, and the wrap keeps it in place, as well as stops oxygen from getting to the burn, which also causes pain reduction. An old Boy Scout first aid kit must.

Its seems like almost every ride we end up breaking something and having to wait for a sxs to come to our rescue. O I also carry some cash with me just incase I need towed out of the woods. Hopefully those days will be over soon when I get a sxs. I would reccomend you add one of those small lithium jump starters to your box.

Hey man, I have one. I showed the cables for it in the video but mentioned I left it in my truck. It was super cold here and I needed to boost my truck with it. I have an awesome Noco Genius booster Lithium Ion booster pack. It's awesome. It's saved my butt a few times. It's easy to be prepared in a SXS because of all the extra space. I remember I used to struggle back in the ATV days and a sport quad makes it pretty much impossible to bring anything like you said. I'm hoping to get my ATV back together this spring, I miss riding it. SXS's are awesome, but still not the same as an ATV. They all have their pros and cons.

Hey croman1, you're right, I should have some engine oil. I don't have a thermostat sensor in there. I had a first generation RX7 as well. I really regret getting rid of that thing. Such cool little cars. My biggest problem is I have so many projects and not enough time or budget to work on them all at once, lol.

Those Ridig boxes are awesome! My buddy has a few of them. Milwaukee makes similar ones now too. I've considered upgrading my gear box a few times now but I just love this one. I cracked a bottom corner on it this season so I just glued it back together. Maybe I'll just see if I can get a new one that's exactly the same. I love that the lid lifts right off, makes it super easy to get into when there is other gear around it too.

Got a question, first off thank you for your awesome videos. I love how you and your friends never go easy and ride hard and WFO all the time! ok, I have a 2018 Polaris General,bought the SuperATV high clearance arms. Are my stock balljoints strong enough to press in them for starters or do I have to buy the expensive SATV ones right away? Was also thinking of just buying two SATV balljoints and putting in the upper or lower arms(which ones are weakest?) so that I have two stock spares to carry along in my toolbag.

So looking at your toe box and scene the green slime bottle is a good product to have. The new replacement that is far superior to green slime is Tire jet you can see the video that's made by the company and others that use the product. When the guy has 30 year-old tires and runs over a series of nail punctures it will seal it within seconds. As you know any medicines U-Haul need to be kept away from the heat especially the engine
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 4 года назад
Hey man, I'll have to check out Tire Jet. Appreciate you sharing that. I agree with the heat. I often replace stuff in the med kit. The only actual medications I carry are the mild over the counter analgesics like Tylenol and Advil as well as some Benadryl. I replace them every few months. I know the heat isn't optimal but they are quite stable when it comes to meds. Worst case scenario they make lose some potency.

Great video for the winter and to misquote someone famous : " plans are useless, but preparation is indispensable". Simple things can go along way, like checking air pressure and greasing zirks and religiously cleaning radiators. You alluded to it with the extensions and straps, but I believe you forgot to mention the winch itself. I've got a wraparound trunk from Wes industries on my outlander max that I love- I use plastic ammo cans to keep it organized and my compressor even fits into one ( don't ask your friends girlfriend to try inflating a flat tire by blowing into it.)
@AdrenalineJunkieProd
@AdrenalineJunkieProd 5 лет назад
lol, how did you learn that lesson Luke? hahaha. Ya, being prepared is key to having a good time. That's why I always preach the importance of focusing on preventative maintenance. I have to say that our group is really good at all this, we all agree on these concepts. In the past a few guys tried to join the group and ride with us and their machines kept breaking down, they wouldn't take care of them and it was problem after problem so we had to kindly ask them to remedy the reoccurring issues they were having and please not return until they did. We don't get to ride as much as we want and when you get an hour into a ride and then need to spend 4 hours extracting someone over and over it loses it's appeal really quickly.

you need to get j.b weld that come in a round plastic cylinder, its way better than the one you are using, you can cut it with almost anything, the texture is more like hard gum no dripping or sagging, dry time 5-10 min.

Thanks Ron. No, I never went to school for mechanics. I'm self taught. It's been something I've been interested in since I was a little kid, I've always loved cars and trucks. Got a Power Wheels Jeep when I was 2 and that started the off-road bug, lol. I spent most of my childhood and high school years in the garage working on various projects. My dad is a machinist by trade and has always been super handy and mechanically skilled so I learned a ton from him growing up. I actually work in healthcare. I always joke that I fix people during the day and machines by night.
