At the height of the pandemic in November 1918, Victoria Park in central Auckland was used as an open-air morgue.
During the Second World War, the park was used for accommodation of US Armed Forces

Ah, I miss those days. So peaceful, so much community-mindedness (in general), and it was a time when I connected MORE than usual with the people in my life. And a lifting of all those expectations that extroverts put on us to socialise and meet up. I'd really like one month of lockdown each year.
