Ah, I miss those days. So peaceful, so much community-mindedness (in general), and it was a time when I connected MORE than usual with the people in my life. And a lifting of all those expectations that extroverts put on us to socialise and meet up. I'd really like one month of lockdown each year.
In the 30s 40s 50s this was beautiful city, flowers, gardens Parks, huge beautiful trees , palms everywhere, and kept so clean, 🌴🌹🌸🌳🌲🌷🌼🌻🌺we need to bring it all back,????? 🙏🕊️🌷🌹🌼🌴🌳🌴🌳🌴🌳🌴🌳🌴🌳🌹
The first thing I realized was that you have to practice finding a riding position that’s flexible and comfortable and more importantly one that’s relaxed enough to absorb unexpected bumps and impacts without losing a firm grip on your handlebars to maintain control as your arms and body absorb shocks. The device itself is a lot tougher and more sprung than it feels initially and when I switched from trying to look cool and dignified to treating it more like a skateboard or bmx- things got a LOT better. Understanding turn radius and lean is essential too so find a parking lot with smooth surface and practice hard carving turns at varying speeds a d lean into turns when you can. The tires are not very sticky so you absolutely can lose traction even in dry conditions when the torquey motor out spins the conditions. Practice lifting front and rear over bumps to reduce the shock and ALWAYS assume you’re about to hit uneven pavement- too tense or too relaxed can mean a potentially dangerous tumble. It’s obviously not a bmx bike but the more you treat it like one the more confidence and competence you’ll develop.
Just taking an indefinite break .. had been putting out videos for 14 months while I had the time to explore RU-vid.. what would you like to see for a “new video” ?
Thank you for this great video...brings back so many memories! Used to live in Pitt St for 3 months in 2013 and just loved the CBD. There seems to be plenty of new developments and enhancements ...can't wait to go back to the city of sails! Funnily enough - my hometown Kiel (Germany) is called "Kiel - Sailing City", sadly it's not even slightly as amazing as Auckland!
Yes .. I lived in PITT st - 2015 when I arrived back to Auckland - great spot so close to K RD and town. The underground city rail is currently tunneling under Pitt street and then up to Newton to connect the new city loop to the existing network.
It’s a pity that they didn’t rebuild some of the destroyed buildings. I understand that they didn’t have all the time in the world, but in Europe they did it in cities such as Dresden and Warsaw. I am not against modern architecture, but some of the buildings lack creativity. In Rotterdam they also didn’t decide to rebuild it after the second world war, and it became a cacophony of modern buildings by architects with big egos. To rebuild a city one needs a vision and more coherence. It’s my opinion. 🤷🏻
They scaled back all the height limits so you couldn’t just rebuild what you had.. maybe in your overseas examples the government owned the buildings and therefore a huge amount of money was allocated and they just built on a mass scale .. too many chch buildings are owned by individuals and it was just too expensive to rebuilt as the rental returns were no longer there. Every few months there are still articles about various businesses going under as the can’t make it stack up in the new building leases they have.
