The punches are transfer punches for centering a drilled hole onto another piece that you want to drill or tap.

All the folk standing around, the auctioneer's comments, the starting fluid coming to the rescue, the desperation, a scene so pathetic it was hilarious! Good times! 😅

You like mechanical minutiae. The 8n was a late model 51 or 52 because it had the distributor on the side of the engine instead of up front. Also had a tach that ford called a proofmeeter .

Interesting auction Tim. It was a nice looking tractor but it's sold a little high I thought for the area if it wasn't running. Wouldn't mind having the tires for my tractor. The RV was no brainer. Transportation cost to get it out of there might add up. That RV should be back on the road. But those RVs and some school buses make great hay haulers as well. Especially back in the square Baler days. Thanks for the video
@mr.goodpliers6988

RV was mega tempting. This sale was close enough to home, we probably would have tried to get it running there and drive it home or pull it on dirt roads with a chain. Someone got a bargain!

Anyone with your kind of knowledge can put stuff together because you see it done in the state its in now. Trouble is they build up an never get revisited till you see it again or someone else needs it also. Three lifetimes ain't enough to put stuff back together yet a full days work turns it into someones dream. Oh sure it takes more than one day but once bit, you will try to finish it far enough that someone will go for it. For example I had a pile of parts in a corner that a guy asked me why do you collect junk? I told him what was laying there an he couldn't see it.. it provoked me enough to lay it out an put a lot of the quick together an when he came back said, is it for sale? Sure but as a pile you could of bought it a lot cheaper... said makes no diff as I can see it now, how much.,.. one days piddling around made me a fast thousand dollars. I wanted to clean that area for something else an it gave me a good reason to do so. Later I found out what I sold was a prototype of a hillman german car that came in a few boxes that you assemble. Quite rare indeed an was worth a lot more

Still wish that one of you "rich" utubers would let us older viewers who grew up before there was such a thing as cell phones, or personal computers, find out how to find some of these auctions in advance, so that we could have a chance to attend !!!! I understand that you don't want "computation" at a auction, but why should I watch y'alls videos to see what you bought, and all the good stuff you weren't interested in that I would have bought ??????????????

Dude, I don't subscribe to your Channel, yet you still keep popping up in my feed. I have watched a few but not many of your videos. No. 1 I don't like GM. I worked on them all through my Career and they have always been Crap. and what they Build Now is downright unsafe. In one of your Videos, you passed by some MOPARS, one of which was a 1955 Desoto Fire dome 2 door Hard top, and I was almost interested. However instead of showing more of it you totally ignored it. I can't stand your GM bias. I am commenting on here because I do not wish to watch your videos. You Bore me to death.

🤔 The algorithm is a mysterious thing. The channels I watch the most, I am not subscribed to. The videos that have more interest and a broader reach get suggested to more people. I would agree that there have been some dismal GM products, just as every brand has had. If any manufacturer wishes to remain in business and keep selling cars, it's in their best interest to improve their offerings and build the best products they can, so I wouldn't say any manufacturer puts out shoddy vehicles intentionally. As far as unsafe vehicles, in the "top ten lists" of them it seems like a pretty even spread between domestic and import nameplates, with each major manufacturer popping up somewhere, and no one brand having a dominant presence. Fortunately, we have come a long way from where we were. Our increasingly litigious society has made manufacturers terrified of product liability and the PR nightmares that go along with them, so hopefully it will be a long time until another Pinto fuel tank or Firestone Wilderness tire debacle. The only "big one" of transportation failures in recent mind wasn't automotive - it was the Boeing 737 Max. I try to show what has the most interest to the broadest group of people, so if some get passed over, it is usually because it's too large a group at a salvage yard to show every last one. I aim to catch the widest range of vehicles possible - just this summer, you'll see I've covered motorcycles, British cars, AMC, Kaiser-Frazer, Studebaker, IHC, Ford, Mopar, and GM. As far as auctions, it's really dependent on what each individual collected. If a field of Mopars came up, I'd be first in line to film it, as in fact did happen in west Texas (see my "Texas Mopar Hoard" video"). Growing up, my dad had a '50 Plymouth, '41 Chevrolet, '59 and '62 Ford Country Sedan station wagons, as well as a Hillman Minx, '62 Falcon and Dodge A100 van. When I was a kid, he had a German Ford 1980 Fiesta, 1966 Fury III, 1970 Valiant, 1966 Valiant, 1978 Dodge van, 1982 Dodge van, and 1988 Dodge Aries. My first car in 1998 was a 1963 Fairlane... and my dad didn't own a GM vehicle from 1978 when he sold the '41 Chevrolet, until he bought a used Pontiac Trans Sport van in 2001! My shop was a Chrysler-Plymouth dealer from 1931-1987, and you can check out the history of it in the American Pickers episode "One Wheel Deal". I have a particular affinity for Forward Look Mopar cars and 1969-73 "fuselage" C body cars, as well as 1974-77 C bodies. I've bought my dad a 1966 Satellite to fix up and help him relive old days, as well as a unique 1962 Lancer wagon from the Texas Mopar Hoard. As time allows, I hope to show the process of reviving them here on the channel. If I seem boring, I try to make the channel more about the cars than about my personality - that's why you seldom ever see my face in the camera
