Good value and some cool silver age comics. Good way to start your own collection so to speak. Brandon at moncomics likes those bronze age monster comics. I do too

Great video, good to see you out putting a effort into your collecting. Just gona throw out some advice because why not 🤣. So what caught your eye when you were young?. I myself had a bunch of Conan hard cover books (Robert E Howard). Gave a try to some Conan comics and bam, i was off and collecting. Turns out my "nitch" is I am really into Anti-heroes; throw a little (or alot) of bad in with the good with the heroes and to me it works like magic!. Conan, Ghost rider (watch Nicolas Cage play him back in 2007) how could you not like "the ghost") ha , Deadman, Spectre, Batman, the Watchmen crew 🙂 all good times. Anyway, good luck with your journey , youll never know what you really like until you do a little bit of adventuring. -Cheers

NOW actually had a couple licensed properties that do pretty well...FRIGHT NIGHT has several $ books and THE TWILIGHT ZONE are awesome reads. They had a smattering of goofy stuff like RALPH SNART ...but also THE GREEN HORNET and SPEED RACER. Continuity Comics...such a shame. Neal Adams is one of the greats. His company just didn't work out.

The bronze horror books do very well and are great reads. You did well on your purchase too!! For 60 bucks Ive seen much less value come out of a bundle of random books. Was wondering if you were gonna take the plunge!

Yep, Bronze age horror is good stuff. I like to "hunt" as much as i can get my hands on (usually $10-$20 so not to bad) of the House of Secrets #81 and later, House of Mystery #174 and later, just the most top notch covers ever also The witching hour. Not as good as pre-code horror but still good none the less (and affordable). The Tales from the Crypt and all the EC stuff (1950) reprints are easy to get, and/ or trade paperback sets are also cheap if you want a big group of issues. -Cheers

@@Pocketsfullofcomics hey, if you're getting stuff like THAT for 50-60 bucks?? I don't think anyone could blame ya!! At the end of the day, like all hobbies, they're wonderful placeholders for memories.. and like you said, something to leave YOUR kids way down the road. Sure..$ value is fine...but much like your story with your grandfather...you collecting these stories affords you the story of your collection AND the collection you built for THEM! Full circle. Just too cool!!

I love this video idea! So first book you showed is first cover appearance, third overall appearance, of Silver Sable. Tower of shadows is interesting. It sold poorly even though the artists it featured were the likes of Neal Adams and Wally Wood. After it’s first few issues it began reprinting pre superhero marvel monster stories from the golden age then on the ninth issue the title changed to “Creatures on the loose” and started reprinting some sword and sorcery titles. Monsters on the prowl also reprinted horror, monster, and/or sci fi stories from the pre code days. Tales of suspense silver are books are always fun to pickup and read. The Hulk book is definitely a 90’s gimmick cover. I didn’t even know there was a married with children book lol, love that it copied a romance novel cover. Armor…I got nothing lol. The tales from the crypt reprints can actually fetch a few bucks which surprised me but are still more affordable than their golden age original counterparts. That tales of suspense 98 is a fantastic pickup and in that condition could probably fetch $20-$30, maybe more. Toys look 90’s-ish. That alien was definitely from Independence Day so you were close lol. The one you paid $2 for is definitely original Kenner so that’s cool. Sorry for being long winded, you asked brother lol! Great video!

Dude, I dive into hobbies HARD. My mind kinda obsesses and my wife absolutely hates it…so I gotta work extra hard to keep my priorities in check lol

Also, awesome pickups! Those “non-key” tales of suspense, tales to astonish, strange tales, etc are all great ways to get cool old books featuring big characters for pretty cheep. I love getting those.

And that Married With Children is a “flip book”, kinda popular in the 80’s/90’s for some some smaller or secondary titles. Like a 2 in 1. Some of the “Marvel Comics Presents Wolverine” were flip books too.
