I really like the lcd2c.I have owned hd800,b&w p9,beyerdynamic t5p 2gen,beyerdynamic dt1770pro,and focal elear.They all had their pros,but also cons.Some of them where too bright and fatiguing.The lcd2c is just perfect.It drives all kinds of genres well.A good allrounder.Its decent comfortable.And it manages to keep you wanting for more listening.A fun and musical headphone.Really engaging.This is the perfect headphone for people who loves music (all sort of genres) and want great sound.Just sit back,relax and getting drawn into the music :D Its my best headphone so far.

Nice! I still have my Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro and I want to buy a new headphone soon. Do you have the closed back or the open back of the LCD2 Classic?

@gertost Hope this comment reaches you. I have the DT1770pro, I am torn between the t5p v2 and LCD2 closed back. I love the imaging and mids of the 1770, but would love some more bass. Needs to be closed and is used 70% for gaming/30% for music. Any tips?

Hey @Minidisc, Love your videos and everything. I have an idea for your next video, How about a video that you show us What headphone is good to buy for what kinda need. For example, If someone needs more base and sub base you can buy Aragon MK3 or Fostex, If you need to hear Clear Vocal The Sennheiser HDs or Focal clear is for you This can be a useful video for every beginner.

Is it the closed back that accentuates the highs more or the earpads? as i have found that thicker earpads often will bring treble/upper midrange to the front more, but bass is often deeper with closed back equivalents.

the width is smaller id imagine but how does the imaging and soundstage depth compare? i know that closed back versions usually have more imaging and depth to their staging. is that the same case here?

The LCD2 Closed Back is actually closest to the LCD-X in terms of sound. I think the bass texture is still a little different, but the overall emphasis on bass / treble is similar. And thanks! - Lachlan

Great video from the best headphone store in AUS! I have HD-600 that I've been using for the last 18 years, great headphones! Using a Dragonfly Red (bought from Minidisc about 6 months ago) on a laptop (Roon + Tidal). Listen to classical and jazz. Are the LCD2 closed-back a good option? How does the sound compare to the HD-600? The problem with the HD-600 is no noise isolation (being open back). How good are the LCD2 closed-back good at isolating noise? Will I hear the aircon, the kids TV, laptop fans and other ambient noise? Keep the videos coming!

A closed back headphone will eliminate a lot of ambient noise like air conditioning etc, but you may still be able to hear people’s voices. The sound will be more aggressive than the HD600, with more in the bass particularly, but also some upper mid and treble edginess that the HD600 does not have.

I am worried about sound leakage, how severe is the lcd2c? Is there still leaking with the closed back? I plan to use a pair of headphones for my dorm or for the library.

I have LCD 2C's and love them. I bought them because I wanted an over ear headphone that was comparable to or better than my Koss Porta-Pro headphones. Porta Pro's are astonishing. At only about £30 they are very close to the Audeze. in frequency response, and have a very low awesome bass. If you haven't tried them, you should. They are the best portable by a long stretch.

We are definitely big fans of the Porta Pro here. I am always struck by how good the sound is for the price. They are one of the best headphones for walks around the neighborhood IMO! - Lachlan

I was thinking on getting HD660S and Fostex 610 for my end game. HD660S for my MIDs for Female vocals and Fostex for my bass. I already own HD558, DT770(250), AKG 712Pro. I love my HD558 for mids, always go back to it when I listen to vocals. The DT 770(250) is my gaming and movie watching. For it bass. The AKG712 pro are my soundstage headphone and I love it. Great for movies, gaming, and music. So, will I be better off on just getting a LCD 2 CB. Or I can get a HD660S and a LCD 2 CB. What your opinion?

The LCD-2CB actually sounds pretty good for female vocalists. The 610 does as well. It depends on what you are looking for in female vocals. Personally speaking I find the HD660S a bit raw and brittle around the upper treble, but plenty of people like it. - Lachlan

Is it possible to do some DIY and turn LCD-2 into closed back version? According to my understanding the only difference is that aluminium cup. I can do it myself from a block of wood and screw it to the back.

They are probably tuned for the deeper earpads as well. And wood isn't the same as aluminum when it comes to acoustics. At all.

How is the isolation on the closed backs though? After I had a listen to the fostex th 610 which had zero isolation at all the term closed is not as important to me anymore

The isolation is stronger than it is on the TH610. The TH610 has surprisingly poor isolation for a closed back. - Lachlan

Is there any headphone in the Audeze line-up that isn't dark/veiled/muddy sounding? They have good bass and decent detail, but lack in treble, clarity etc.

Had the LCD-2 back in the day but sold them mostly due to comfort reasons. Got the TH600 which I absolutely love. But some reason considering the LCD2C :/

A lot of people mentioned that the lcd 2C sounded different/better when you actually pulled the cups away from your ears and brought the drivers a little farther away from your head. Do you agree? And if so, do you think those thicker closed pads would make much of the same effect on the regular 2C?

I suspect that the pads were made thicker to increase the driver distance from the head to change the overall damping, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if they change the sound on the classic as well. This seems like an interesting experiment to run so we'll report back! - Lachlan

Considering getting some LCD2 closed for work, I have the LCD2-Cs for home; they are great but I had to add 15db to 250hz and below to give enough bass for my liking as I only listen to electronica. Interested to see how the LCD2 closed compare to the LCD2C's for bass and how much EQ I will need. I have a crappy pair of Momentum 2.0s and M50Xs at work and it kills me inside when I come to work after using my LCD2C's at home. Also the LCD2Cs feel quite light to me, everyone saying they were really heavy cans was a bit worrying but when my cans turned up, they don't feel heavy at all, I really don't notice the weight. I really wouldn't let the weight turn you off unless you are a tiny beta male.

finnsk3, for someone who has never had a pair of headphones this nice, do you think the LCD2C is worth it? it would be my first pair of really nice headphones, guess im just hesitant since i don't know how they sound. also, is there a lot of sound leakage on them?

@@tbone8546 Defintiely worth it. I have owned a lot of ~$300 headphones, this is my first over $500usd and I am really suprised how much better they are. The main thing you will notice is imaging and dynamic range. What I mean by that is sounds are more seperate and quiet sounds are very easy to hear even while there are loud sounds. Listening to lazily mastered songs won't be massively different as everything sounds in front of you but well mastered songs just sounds soo good. having instruments sound seperate from eachother like you are standing in the middle of an orchestra. Some electronica I used to like but can't handle it with the LCD-2cs due to being able to hear slight clipping and compression in some of the sampling. Also make sure you have a good dac+amp combo. Movies with good audio are amazing due to the positioning of the sounds and gaming is also awesome. I can definitely tell where sounds are coming from far more accurately to my other headsets. They are also extremely comfortable and the weight really doesn't bother me, I don't notice it.

The LCD2 has a fazor array waveguide, which makes the midrange slightly different and some consider cleaner. The LCD-2 and LCD-2 Classic also have differences in materials - namely, the LCD-2 has a wood ring. New units of the LCD-2 are now selling with the same updated headband and cable as the Classic version.
