I replaced mine and now the car is idling terribly. Bouncing up and down between 1500 rpm’s and 500. Almost like it’s struggling to stay running. Any idea why ?
@@twin2civicgaraget2cg75 it did not do this before changing it. And the part was a 65 dollar one I did the blow test and everything checked out. Idled fine before and now is idling terribly
I'm new to car repairing so please forgive me for the pedestrian question I'm about to ask you. I have a 2006 Audi A3 2.0T and am having this exact same issue with my vehicle. Same error code and engine shaking. I'm going to replace my pcv, just as you did here in this video. So my question is the following: What tools do I need to complete this pcv replacement? And are there any other tools specific to the Audi A3 8P that I should include in my toolbox? Thank you for your help!
Hi, the only tools I used were the ones in the video. So a set that includes most basic hand tools will get you by. However Audi/VW do use some torx, so it would help if you had some of these. Thanks
Hi the item is: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F222885564394 Although I only used the PCV and not the pipes in the kit. I have had no issies with the car since the install. Thanks
Hi. Good video. I have the similar problem... Engine on idle is shaking working very bad. Pcv is new one tested. All pipes new. Any ideas?... Audi a3 2005 same engine
I would not say I noticed a performance difference. But this is an item you want to be working on your car. Also I would watch the HPFP cam follower video I did... not doing that job can write off your engine. Turns out I caught mine just in time. Cheers
I just installed a new one by myself, and I'm still getting air suction through dipstick tube when I pull it out... I mean it's a brand new PCV valve, what's the problem
@@twin2civicgaraget2cg75 No I didn't, I watched this video after installation. However I googled a little more, and it turns out that suction from an engine is a normal thing, and engine shaking and idling roughly is something that's suppose to happen if you have a healthy PCV, if nothing happens when you remove a dipstick or oil cap and idle stays the same, that means your PCV is not working properly. The crazy as it sounds, that's apparently true. I found it on various sources, even Charles from Humble Mechanics backs it up. www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/pcv-is-working-correctly.380810/ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1qFB1KriX_8.html www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/485844-Why-does-engine-flutter-when-dipstick-is-pulled I'm gonna inspect a bit more on this though, just to be sure
How do you remove that second pipe at 07:17.. looks like u did it so easily.. mine won't budge and afraid of breaking the pipe since my kit didn't come with a new one
@@twin2civicgaraget2cg75 ya it was. after that tho it was super easy DIY.. The tricky part now is changing the valve cover breather tube. I have an intake and heatshield so that has to all come out in my 2008 a3 because it in the back of the valve cover area..
Do you have a plan to put a stage 3 turbo kit on it and gain 200 more horsepower, or a plan to do coilovers and suspension improvements? That would be a sweet AWD car with 550+ HP. Nice fix of PCV valve.
I have looked at K04 turbos and differemt intercoolers... could be made very fast for not a lot of money. At the moment I will keep it standard, but might look to upgrade it in the future. At the moment it has a set of winter tyres on.... and is doing great in poor weather conditions.
@@twin2civicgaraget2cg75 thank for responding back to me :) yea i got the part from audi dealership and have a autoshop install it for me and i just found out there is one plastic rubber line is crack but i have no idea what that line is is there a way i can send u a picture to show u
@@twin2civicgaraget2cg75 yea the shop near me close for the next couple of day :3 and the big rubber line is next to the power steering fluid reservoir that connect from the engine to the frame
@@JohnLetra You can check if there is an air leak by spraying brake clean next to the pcv to see if the revs rise. Be careful though as it is flamable. Other than that I would inspect all of the lines to check for splits.
if PCV is blocked , oil would leak from the engine ,right?, But wouldn't the blow by goes out the breather side ? instead of leaking from seals or gaskets ?
Thanks for the comment. The main point of the PCV valve is to reduce crankcase pressure and remove this presurised air at the same time as separating the oil from it. Looking it at other videos doing the same PCV job, it seems the amount of oil I saw behind the pcv is quite normal, I just didnt expect that much. Hope this helps
I got it on Ebay. My advice is dont skimp on getting a good kit. This is the one I bought, not cheap, but good quality and has all the parts you need. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222885564394 Cheers
