I've tried multiple exhaust on a3s, even OEM s3 catback and let me tell you this... best option and value for a daily use if you want nice loud farts is simple res delete with oem a3 exhaust.
Sounds great, prob the exhaust I will go with. Just got a 19 audi a3 sline, yours sounds like mine on cold start, almost like it has an exhaust leak, then it goes away after like 30 or 40 seconds. Dealership said its "normal". nice video tho!
Thanks! Yeah, the “cold idle” dissipates in roughly 2 minutes. I will say, it sounds brilliant under acceleration both inside and outside the vehicle. Regardless, I love it. It would be a huge bummer if I was unable to have this Borla on my Audi. Cheers!
How has the car run with no tune after all this time? Curious, I have a 2016 a3 with just a ECS air intake kit and would like the borla cat back. Let me know your thoughts please
While of course one could opt for a tune, obviously… One is surely not needed for a simple Borla CAT-Back system. My A3 runs absolutely brilliant. So well, that I have no plans to ever make a change for as long as I own this vehicle. Cheers.
With this generation of the A3, there are no electronic sound baffles like those found on the S3 and RS3. Therefore, this install was as straight forward as removing the OEM CAT-Back system, and replacing it with the Borla S-Type CAT-Back system. Hope that helps! Cheers.
The Milltek offering looks pretty decent, the one they offer without the resonator. It seems to be the most similar to the Borla offering I have on my Audi. I've never seen or heard the Milltek in person though. They are priced similarly too. Having never hear the Milltek, my only input can be towards the two design differences. I much prefer the look of the Rolled exhaust tip of the Borla over the beveled edge the Milltek offers. (Even somehow goes with The Rear Deck Audi Badge too!) As well as the dual side by side small mufflers with Boral RaceBrace between them, compared to the uni muffler offering from Milltek. To me, looks wise, it just feels like to touch more effort was put into the Borla, cosmetically. Both seem great though! Cheers!
I have a 2015 Audi a3 s line appearance wise I got it right where I want it but when it comes to exhaust and sound it’s completely stock and quite any recommendations?
There seems to be a few decent options available for a CAT-Back exhaust system. However, I can only speak from my own findings. It’s been a few years now that I’ve had this Borla S-type system on my own Audi. I only have positive opinions of it still to this day. I would surely recommend this to anyone that has a 2014 thru 2020 (known as the 8V chassis) Audi A3 quattro. It was such a simple install too, on this particular Audi. Cheers.

Ha! Too funny... Actually, this video was created shortly after my car was newly acquired. I have since installed a genuine ///AudiSport Rotor V2 19" Wheel Set in Gloss Black Anthracite, paired with an APR/// Flush Mount Wheel Spacer Kit. It was, obviously, much needed. Ha!... I now love the look & stance it has in both height & width. It now appears quite aggressive, without being juvenile. Which is sometimes difficult to achieve. I wouldn't tamper with it at all, going forward. I'll likely create an additional video that illustrates this, in the coming summer, once the roads in my location are free from the needless road salt they are currently caked in. The Audi, not an enormous Bentley, had just finished application of a ceramic coating back then. The shirt was used simply to close the vehicle’s door in a way to try not to put a big thumb print stain in the coating after all that work. Thanks for viewing tho, Bro-tato chip… Cheers. 👍🏻
Thanks! I would say it is surely noticeable that the car has a sport exhaust system, from inside the cabin. However, if someone were to purposely spend the money for one, then I'm sure they would also like to hear that sporty sound from in the car as well. So, while the sound is surely there, its also not overwhelming to the point of regretting the installation, by a stretch of the imagination. For me, it adds fun to even the most routine of drives. @@Cribb1221 I don't think the DSG shifting "farts" are obtained unless one does at least a Stage 1 tune, or something like that. So, while I have yet to clear the Break-In period amount of miles the manual states I'm supposed to wait to surpass before I'm OK'ed to really step on it, I can't say for sure. However, I'm pretty sure it doesn't trouser-cough (fart), unless at least a Stage 1 tune is applied. Cheers.

Thanks! I'll try my best to answer your question. Those are the Acexxon Honeycomb Rear Reflector Inserts in their Matte Textured Black Option. It seems of the two options, the Matte option is more suited to match the finish and texture on the A3 S///line and possibly S3 rear OEM diffuser. And their Gloss Black finished option might be a more close match to the RS3 OEM rear diffuser. Thus I opted for their Matte Textured Black option. As one can easily see, they are as close to an OEM match as can currently be found. I personally like them so much, that I wouldn't even press the Start/Stop button without them, going forward... FYI, their fit and finish is top-shelf as well. Hope that helps! Cheers.

@@Baaang360 NEITHER!!! Simply park your car in your garage or somewhere you don't mind being on the ground for only a few minutes... The ONLY tool required is a needle-nose pliers. Slide under your A3 on your back, under one of the exhaust tip exits. If you look up into the inside of your rear bumper, you'll then see that you are able to easily access each of the three snap-in tabs that hold each OEM reflector in place. Simply use your needle-nose pliers to squeeze each of the three horizontal plastic tabs, while gently applying pressure to push out to the rear of the A3. The reflector will likely just fall right out once you press and release the third and final tab. Next, from out from under your A3, simply press the new mesh insert back in, making sure to feel or hear each of the three clips fasten. Repeat for opposite side. Done! 10 minutes, at most. Cheers.
Hello… I’m not 100% sure. Regardless, I’m quite certain it will not fit. It’s likely only compatible with the A3 8V chassis from 2015 thru 2020, and is equipped with quattro and 45 TFSI 2.0 Turbo engine. Hope that helps. Cheers!

Hello… I’m not a technician by any means. However, I think this system that Borla offer, only fits this particular chassis A3 equipped with the 45-TFSI petrol 2.0T engine. I would imagine that even having slightly different exhaust hanger locations, pipe outlet diameters, and slightly different exhaust outlet locations, would make this quite challenging to install on different spec’ed Audi vehicles. Those are OEM 19" A3 5-Wing Wheels I bought refurbished, in Gloss Black. They are now sold. I have since found a set of brand new Genuine 19" AudiSport Rotor v2 wheels in OEM Gloss Black Anthracite, and I am very pleased with the switch. They are able to be seen in another short video I uploaded, idling the Audi out from the garage, if you are interested. Cheers.

And it looks as tho the cavity in the bumpers are ever so slightly different were the different diffusers would snap into place. Thanks for the kind words! I believe this particular exhaust system is only compatible with an A3 up to the year 2020, known as the 8V chassis. To see if Borla offer an exhaust system for the 2021 and beyond, 8Y chassis, it’s probably best to periodically check their website to then know if or when it becomes available. Cheers!

Hi, Frank! The rear lip spoiler is a pre-painted Brilliant Black genuine Audi accessory I ordered from my local Audi dealer. It simply just sticks right on. And is the same spoiler that comes on the RS3. The front lip is what came with the vehicle when purchased new, as part of the front nose cover encompassed in the //S/line package. Hope that helps! @@Cribb1221 The 2020 A3 Sedans in North America came with that diffuser and a split dual exhaust tip exit from the factory, when equipped with the S///line and quattro package.

Hi there... I think it would be more a headache than it would be its worth. Of course, anything is possible. However, I'm quite certain there would be quite a few obstacles to surpass. I would figure the pipe diameters after the CAT would differ slightly. Maybe even exhaust bracket hangers in slightly different locations. The way this system is meant to route thru an AWD undercarriage vs a FWD. Even the location where the dual exhaust tips are intended to exit the rear bumper's lower valance would likely be a challenge. Not looking to be Buzz Killington. But rather just trying to caution a fellow Audi enthusiast. If possible, I bet it would sound rad though! Cheers!

@@elijahwashington.6593 Honestly, I haven’t researched the 2.0 Turbo FWD CAT-Back exhaust options. I just did a quick search, and you’re right, I didn’t see too many options easily available. I did notice a quite expensive option specific for your spec A3 on the ECS Tuning site from SuperSprint. For almost $2 grand, that would be a big gamble if u couldn't hear it 1st. Even though SuperSprint are a longtime reputable brand… APR is a GREAT company and now offer a new’ish OPEN AIR intake system for your setup, I believe. That’s a MUCH less expensive, and easy to install, way to gain fun sound AND a little performance, if you have the itch to modify as most do. Especially if you are finding it difficult to source an exhaust specific to your Audi’s spec. I’m sure if you really dig deep thru the inter webs, there just may be something decent enough to give a go to tho! Cheers!

I agree… Unpopular for sure. Taste is subjective. But almost any Motorsport enthusiast would concur that your statement is way off base. This Audi beyond rad. The 1990 Civic was never equipped with a 2.0 4-cylinder Turbo engine either. Why I say it makes Audi look bad is cus I feel like you spend a lot to get a nice car, but in the end it ends up sounding like a civic... And to your cylinder questions... It doesn't matter what the 1990s civic had... 5cylinder sounds like 10cylinders vice versa... Sound is sound...other than that the car looks very good with black on black. But hey, it's just my dumbass opinion, if you put it online there will be people like me with different outlook on the exhaust. I never said it sounds bad, 1990 civics actually sounds good.
@@NBASFAN My very first car, coincidentally enough, was an ‘89 Civic (same as a ‘90). So no need to RU-vid it, as I know the vast difference in comparison, personally. I captured this video within the very first week I obtained my Audi. I am confident it is one of the very best examples of an A3 composed primarily of Genuine Audi accessories. I already know it’s likely there isn’t a more clean or pristine example of an A3 8V on the planet. Therefore your, make Audi look bad, contribution would only hold water if it were to be read on Opposite Day.
