Another great vid mate love the blue I don't think some people know that diff primers give diff finish to the main couler maybe do a vid on what happens to the top couler when you use a diff couler primer as I say a cracking vid mate take care

Hi, I'm am very reluctant to move to dry sanding only and I picked up on the comment on wet sanding primer. My thoughts on wet sanding is firstly less sanding scratches and much less risk of dust in the finish job no matter how blow off or tacking off. I would be good the see a video on this
interesting comment tbh , why is there less scratches wet sanding to dry sanding ? surely that depends on the grade you use and sanding method ie if i block with 500 or 500 on a da das leave a finer scratch pattern, dry sanding is alot cleaner esp with a dust vac, the primer wont soak up water and absorb and leaving issues down the line and cleanup is faster and easier with dry sanding , less chance of water being trapped in seams and areas you cannot get it out of ect , abrasives technology has moved on miles over the last few years making wet sanding very much an old school step even on clearcoat
@@TonysRefinishingTV hi Tony it was just a thought must be just me then 320 on a da the scratches seem a much coarser than 320 wet and not everybody has speed at the front there mind and i always bow to the professional painter my once a month paint job experience on 10 year old auction car for the past 30years I know is a drop in the ocean to you pros
@@johnfeeney7782 320 wet flat again though depending on the manufacturer wont be the same as a 320 disc its strange how it works mate tbh i have some p1000 discs i can do blend panels with, if i did them with p1000 wet flat ive got it wouldnt work as it would be to harsh as i say alot not all products are equal
Hi Tony , really love the channel good to see someone who has so much pride in his work. I have just watched the video on the smart repair to the wing and need your advise on a problem I have. I have a 2009 Jaguar XF in Azure Blue and I have some bad nibs in the paint on both front doors, more like splatter from the gun and been cleared over . I presume from when the bonnet and wings was painted due to stone chips. My question is what base should I use and what clear , would it be ok to use 2k solvent base and 2k lacquer over the original Jaguar paint and clear. Kind Regards Chris

That is one fantastic finish Tony the gloss is on another level, very nice mate you must be happy with that 👌 I was watching you lay the basecoat very carefully and could see you lay it down a lot wetter than I do so maybe I need to try a heaver coat, maybe you were doing it this way due to it's poor coverage, for my A4 wing I mixed 105g including thinners and used the lot, I'll send you a couple of pics mate. How did you know which colour primer to use as you said it mentioned it somewhere, there is nothing in the Kapci ColorMix software to tell you which colour primer you need. The Kapci 6030 does look like it covers and flows out nicely, I was expecting you to do it a similar way to the MM2 1 light then one full coat but you smashed 2 full wet coats on there, I need to try this clearcoat 😁 Great live chat last night mate, not sure how many was on the chat but it seemed quite busy so I hope you were happy with the figures 🙏👍
it says on the computer software mate the recommended primer / base colour for the colours when you open them to view , and yeah you can go wet with it mate its a tad more user friendly in that way than the mm2 but obv as a result you use more , chat was busy ish but youtubes taken a big slow down atm since the mini series finished but it is what it is youtubes a fickle beast like that lol
Hmm little confused here Tony, I've opened the Colour Search & Correct software, if I do a Formula Search then click on a result it opens a smaller window with the formula from where you can mix, there is nothing about a primer colour, unless you are doing yours from the Search & Correct tab where I think you open a job and use the camera, I can never get anything to work there just a load of empty boxes 🤔🤷♂️
