Nice to have video pointers so thanks for taking the time to create it. UK A5 owner here. Not sure if there's any differences between uk and us spec but headlights were extremely hard to remove as space EXTREMELY tight (and the underside of the light is so pronounced it only just clears the bumper once the light is jiggled into just the right place. I stuck gaffa tape over the lens to protect it from scratches by the surrounding bodywork and with care it actually took over 30 mins (outside in zero degree temps slowed things down a bit) to release the drivers side (which has pretty much zero gap behind it due to airbox). My decade old A5 looks clean but had obvs gotten brittle with age as the headlight plastic underneath just fell off as I was carefully brushing it down with a paintbrush. One of the metal clips that keeps the light assembly together no longer attaches so the headlight leaks and mists up now. Going to have to sort that. The wiring block that connects to the car was also brittle and the plastic tab snapped off in my hand, so I had to rely on carefully use of a tiny screwdriver to get that off - but at least the lights working again. Be careful with older potentially brittle plastic parts guys! I can see why the job is meant to be done by taking the bumper off first though. Not necessary but sure makes getting the drivers side light out easier.
Just installed new bulbs on my 2015 S5. The video is excellent. I read the comments beforehand and noticed that someone was able to replace a bulb without removing the assembly. I successfully replaced the bulb on the driver side without removing the assembly. As someone has already mentioned the coolant tank makes access to the main cover of the passenger side impossible so I followed the video instructions and it all worked out.
Very good video which is easy to follow- I would add that the bottom bolts you only need to partially loosen them just enough to slide the unit out and obviously retighten once you put the unit back. Here in UK you can only replace with Halogen or Xenon bulbs whichever your vechicles was originally fitted with in order to pass MOT.
Great video!! I just did my broken headlight in about 30 minutes with this videos help. Much better than the $470 the dealership wanted, I only had 1 issue and that was pushing the tab and pulling off the lines, just took some back and forth. My car is a 2015 A5 premium plus S-Line. One question though. When I took off the engine cover at the front, they had tabs holding it down. On the tabs you push down in the center and then you can pull them off. 2 of them broke. Any idea of what they are called so I can get more. Thank you
My bulb went out 3 weeks ago and your video helped me a lot, I followed your tips and it went almost smooth until I dropped my screw bit into the void lol, and I must've missed something when inserting the lights, I got an error about the self leveling function not working tho, and I didn't bother doing all that again lol
Hi, I've had the same issue. Changed one of the bulbs and now i'm getting a 'Headlight range control defective' error message. Can you remember how you solved that? All vids online are talking about the wheel sensor going bad but that seems to coincidental with me just having put the headlight back in
@Noimad79 I don't remember doing anything, I think that issue fixed itself. 2 years till this, and I'm still on the same bulbs. It never skipped a beat. Hopefully this helps.
@@SaiCharan999 Thanks for reply. You're right, i started the car with lights in auto mode when it was a bit darker and they seemed to auto align themselves and fualt now gone. Cheers
I have a 2014 Audi A5. Just so everyone is aware, you don't actually need to remove the entire headlight assembly. That large rubber tab is accessible from inside the engine bay (on the driver's side). It's a bit tight, but very doable. The passenger side rubber tab is hiding behind the air intake, so it's a bit more of a pita.
Great job - perfect video mate thanks. I cant tell from video but, if you use 6000 bulbs will them not have different color then stripes? Will stripes doesn't look yellow then ? Thanks
Thank God (and engineers) I didn’t have to remove the whole headlight, just twist and unplug the bulb and replace, on my 2014 Audi S5. Worked on the driver’s side bulb. Saved me an hour!
Replaced the bulbs in my 14 b8.5 without removing the headlight assembly as seen in other videos. The whole job took about 10 mins. Just don't understand why it was done this way as it looks identical to the b8.5 🤔
Does the headlight have an adjustable screw for the lens to go up or down?? One of my headlight points lower than the other one. I checked the bulbs and they are correct way.
Hey man I’ve got a white 2016 Audi A5 SLine and I wanna start modding it and making it look better. It’s all stock. So I’m looking for some pointers and tips to where to get started and how to start doing it myself. Much love!
You should upgrade your upgrade with OSRAM Xenarc Cool Blue Boost D3S Xenon Car Headlight. They are noticeably brighter unless your going for that sporty blue look. Bad ass whip!!
My headlights out on the passenger side and the indicator of the flashing light still work the driver's side light work I am thinking to buy two new headlights housing and change out the whole set what do you think
I just switched to LED D3S, it made a biiiig difference. First of all, much cleaner white light than OEM and 260% brighter than OEM so got alot better highbeam. Also they light up waaaay faster than xenon.
Do you not have an access panel on the wheel well? Mine has an access panel that you can access if you turn the wheel opposite of the side you need. The panel gives you full access to all the light bulbs and ballast etc. also I used 6500k as the light has a blue tint looking at the housing but the light is a nice crisp white on the road
Does anyone know if you can fix the DRL leds on the units if they are not working? or any videos already up with this fix? Great video and i`m sure this will help when i take the unit out to sort the DRL. Cheers
Thx for sharing bro. I have a 2016 Audi s5.Do you know where to get headlight lens for replacement? I had a crack on my headlight. Do I only have the option to purchase an assemble headlight?
Love those lights I have a A5 2014 2 door Quattro. what year is yours? You have the nice leds. I want to change the whole light as mine looks old but haven't seen them anywhere?
I have a 2011 a4 and im buying new headlights that i really like and i got the hid bulbs and it says control module not included do i need that for them to work?
Thanks for the detailed video, very helpful, I have the same issue on my 2014 S5 but I'm kinda skeptical about using a non OEM brand instead of Phillips bulbs as the original, don't get me wrong I'd be happy with the price of these and change them everytime they go bad, but I'm worried about these spoiling the electrical stuff on the car, can you confirm how it's working after a month from this video. Thank you.
Nice video, but you did this the hard way. The driver's side bulb can be accessed from inside the engine bay by simply removing the larger of the two rubber covers that protect the bulbs, removing and then replacing the bulbs. No need to remove the entire headlight assembly as is shown in this video. The passenger side is a bit more work as it involves removing the air intake box but that is a much easier job than removing the headlight assembly as was done here. There are videos online that explain how to remove the air intake box and at the same time you can easily change your air filter!
Hey, please disregard my last comment. I drive a 2015 b8.5 s4 out of NC.. new to the Audi world.. does this bulp replace the headlight and the eyebrow light as well or just the headlight? Do I have to purchase a separate bulb for the eyebrow light? Thank you!
excellent video man! but i have a question. my problem with my headlight is the led line part. it become yellowish. can u share with us whats the cause of it .
i followed your steps and replaced a failed driver HID.. i replaced the passenger side so that they match, and now the passenger hi beam, DRL and orange light doesnt work - getting an alarm saying the lights are out. any thoughts?
Next time, just detatch the intake housing clamp & sensor and pull the whole box out instead of pulling the headlight out. Hell for your intake, just take off the filter and you can get to the back of the headlight. 😂
I've seen a few other comments about it, but any experience with the yellowing of the DRLs and how to replace or fix them? I've seen most people say they had to replace the entire headlight, but there has to be another option for people not afraid to open up the lights. I got my s5 a few months ago and they are already yellowing.
