This is a good concise and "to the point" video Taj. I just wanted to add a little something that I ran in to while replacing the HID headlight bulbs on my North American 09 S5 B8. @2:07 in... it seems you were able to pull the bulb WIRE out from it's "socket" BEFORE you twisted that bulb retaining clip and mechanism to make the bulb removable. For some reason on my 09 S5 headlights I CAN'T remove the bulb wire......without twisting the bulb retaining clip mechanism FIRST. So if someone is having trouble getting the actual bulb wire loose.....try twisting the bulb retaining clip \ mechanism AND THEN removing the wire AND the bulb. I'm not sure....but it may be that European headlight modules have a slightly different design in that part of the module and that bulb retaining clip mechanism not only holds the bulb in place BUT it ALSO keeps the bulb wire itself locked in place.

Hi on the Audi A5 from 2013 to 2014 it has a standard H7 bulb for both main and dipped beam.

I like how all these videos show how to change the left light but not the right. lol it’s because the air intake is blocking the bolts to the right headlight so you can’t even get to it. Thank you Audi

Thanks for this video. My 2012 S5 looked exactly as yours did and was happy I was able to do this myself. I had more trouble choosing the right bulb on amazon than doing the actual swap.

Which bulb did you get on Amazon? I keep seeing either low beam or high beam. I thought the proper bulb was suppose to work in both situations. Maybe I’m just looking at the wrong ones.

This was very helpful changing but headlight bulbs in my 2014 SQ5. The dealership (stealership) wanted $178 (1 bulb) +$180 to install. Bought 2 oem bulbs from Amazon for $90! Feels good. Also, my headlights wouldn't pull out. I was able to slide it forward to get some space.

Taj Khan looks like my headlight are the same but bolts were in different places and couldn’t manage to remove the headlight the way you did so It might be the facelift. I ended up having to remove the wheel to get to it from the arch. Good video the bro

Hi Taj, thanks for the great video - very helpful. Do you have any idea how to Adjust an Audi S5 headlight from a UK setting to a EU setting. I.e. when the headlights are dipped the beam will be stronger on the right side as opposed to the current UK setting on the left?

There is no such setting for this model yet but you can buy EU stickers. My drivers side headlight bulb works for about 5 minutes then goes off and I get an message on the dash. I turn the headlights off then back on again and it works fine again for another 5 minutes. Is it the bulb on its way out?

Why go through all the trouble of this video but not post the year model of car? Helpful to those folks who have the same year model wasting time for those who don't. I've had to watch so many videos just to find out it's the wrong year because folks won't simply put the year in the description.

Hi thanks! I would recommend Philips and no point going for cheap one because you’ll end up spending more in a long run so go for Philips will last you longer..

Hey Taj, thanks for your help. My headlight that needs changing is on the right side (under the fan). Getting to it is a little tricky but OK, however the plug in the back of the light feels like it's welded on ☹️ As the fan is covering it, it is very difficult to get space to disconnect it. Any tips? I wasn't sure about using something like WD40

Hey great video. Would this be the same as my audi a5 cabriolet s line 2013 model? Got quoted 280 from audi for one bulb to be replaced looking to do it myself if I can! Cheers

Thanks!! Your car is slightly newer to the model I worked on but it should be the same. You should see a screw on the top, one under the plastic trim and one behind the light right at the bottom, if you remove them the headlight should just pop out. Thanks 🙏😊

Excellent! I'm an electrician, I'm going to design a plug that car manufactures can't unplug, i mean wtf is stopping it ffs. The right one by the air box won't unplug. How do you do this you didn't explain, that was a kind of secret was it

@@TajMotorMedics Eventually got it done People, the tab on the side of the plug, stick a screwdriver in it and push it backward away from the light, that should unlock and unplug it. Didn't mention, great video though i used it to get the job done. That washer that fell off goes underneath, cos mine stayed in place ;)

What is the bulb in the other top corner? I can’t seem to activate it. I’m guessing it’s full beam. Because the normal main bulb isn’t enough for full beam.

The main bulb is for both dipped and full beam and the small bulb is for when you switch your car off with left or right indicator on then that light comes on. Try it :)

Did you use D3S Gas Discharge Bulb? And was it new? If yes then I would suggest you check the fuses

D3S Gas Discharge lamps are created to work as Bi-Xenon bixenon or either single beam, it completely depends on the car's specifications. E-marked and road legal, these high-quality 35w/42v Xenon D3S HID bulbs are mercury free and will perform with the efficiency you would expect from precision German engineering.

1 min 45 sec I have a flat screwdriver which I put in through a gap on the plug and I then twist it slightly to my left and pull the plug out at the same time

Unplug the battery before you attempt this next time, xenon bulbs can be dangerous with the amount of voltage

Whilst you are not wrong about the voltage this procedure at least on the 5 series Audi's is fairly safe as long as simple electrical precautions are observed (take care with the electrical connection, no tugging on wires, no jamming metal objects into the connection and don't do it in the pouring rain). It's all plastic housed connectors and no bare connections exposed (except when the headlight unit is fully removed and of course then it is separated from the car). I personally switch the headlights off before disconnecting and reconnecting to avoid shorts blowing bulbs and as a safety precaution but that's just me.

Keith Berry honestly bro. Have someone with you or get a long screwdriver. If you have one with a magnet at the end, that will be perfect.

what a piece of shit design. I also had issues getting the bulb assembly to seat on the passenger side. Wouldn't snap in. Also had trouble getting it out. Wife is going to have to take her car in to the stealership just for a fucking bulb.
