Super machine and I have the same 3.3 and the color is the same with w12 interior. And I fix with my brother what we can ourselves. Because the service can not help but just calculate the hours spent there.
Cam oilingi is going through lifters. if lifters go bad there is no oliling. Cos there is 4 valves for cylinder power loss is not noticeable, and if it starts to make nois its to late. Simple as that. Best solution is change lifters and rockers when timing belt is changed.
There's no straight oiling for rockers I think. That's the reason why they wear out so fast. Now dealing with same problem. 2 rockers fell out, engine started knocking and shaked whole car.
Yes there is. oil goest through lifter to rocker. rocker have small hole that squirts oil on cam. if lifter goes bad then oil leaks out and dosent squirt through rocker hole.
Discovering America on 2000s engine? LOL There is no fixing that since 3.3TDI have same sliding rollers as original 2.5TDI 110kW had. You can only buy new OEM cams, followers and rockers, then use best oil there is with friction modifying additive and it may last pretty long. Not an option for 3.3TDI simply of cost, hardware costs in the region of 3000€. These problems have only single solution and that is rolling rockers which were introduced on upgraded EU4 2.5TDI 132kW. Never came to V8 nor they fit from V6. But go ahead, reveal something unheard off on 20+yo car.
