2017 Audi Four Cylinder Engine Production. Györ Plant, Hungary.

Audi inaugurated the engine plant in Győr in October 1994. With this plant, the company not only secured its international competitiveness, but also created a strategic site in Hungary that increasingly gained importance. Meanwhile, nearly the entire range of Audi engines comes from Győr.

The first 2-ish minutes demonstrates that there is a comfort and a certainty that is manifested in machines doing machinelike things to build other machines.

What i dont quite get is you see the guy installing the camshaft and bolting cam assembly cover and off they go to the next stage without any valve cam adjustment. Now im not sure if these engines have external valve adjustment because it doesn't show that but if so would surely have to be adjusted? If they are the old bucket and shim layout i can only assume they have the clearance taken into account from the initial machine process but even then i find it hard to believe that there would be not some differences a few thou either way!?

EA888 gen3, integrated exhaust manifold to engine head, no more exhaust manifold, better cooling system, quick engine heat up to operation temperature. No more camshaft cover, integrated parts, upper part of head is closing head and keeps camshafts on place. VVt on both camshafts, AVS system for 1.8lt (before AVS was only for 2.0lt), No more MAF (mass air flow) FSI + MPI system together, plastic oil filter cover, plastic oil pan. The worth thing on this engine is new thermostat which fails often and very expensive. Also operating temperature is very high 110deg+

I'd have the cam put in BEFORE the valve cover gasket material is laid down. That way you eliminate any chance of the worker fouling up the gasket.

Michael T, I'm very happy that I had sense enough to avoid the cars mentioned above because they are endless money pits to obtain parts and get repaired as they age. Their build quality isn't any better than some Japanese cars that cost 1/3 of their price comparatively equipped. I'm glad somebody buys them, it keeps some people busy.

@adrianniemiec8669

This 2.0 Liter engine ranges from 200 to 320 HP !!! I hope the attention to detail got better than the recentyears. For a 4 cylinder engine to consume 2-3 quarts of oil every 3,000-3,500 miles is not normal. I really hope that the 2016-2017 engines are better quality because Audi makes very nice cars !!! A forced induction engine will always consume someoil , but 3 quarts per oil change is a little high , maybe that is why the sump for these engines requires 6 quarts , ok , turbo lubrication , oil cooler lines , yes I know , but all that on a 2.0 L is no more than 1.2 quarts. To give you an examplemy 2006 1.8 L Nissan Sentra takes 2.8 quarts. 6 quarts is a 3.7-4.0 v6. So downsizing and turbocharging is supposedto limit emissions ? This way , I don't see how.

I have a 2.0L turbo CAEB engine from a 2010 A4 that was burning oil when I bought the car with 90K miles. It was burning about a quart of oil every 600 miles. While I was very disappointed to find that Audi had a widespread problem with engines that were burning oil, I ended up having my engine rebuilt with the updated pistons and rings, and 10,000 miles later I have not burned a single drop of oil in between oil changes. So, in my case it was completely the poorly designed piston rings that were the culprit. My rebuilt engine is complete confirmation that the Audi manual that came with the A4 was definitely wrong to say that it is "normal" for an engine burn a quart of oil every 1000 miles. It is my understanding that the piston rings in these engines were updated on the 2013 model year, and this problem is much less common in newer models. It would have been nice if Audi took more responsibility for the issue instead of telling people to put more oil in your trunk(this is also what BMW did), but definitely don't believe anyone that tells you burning oil is just "normal", turbo or not.

My 2004 Golf mk5 with a 1.9 TDI (full of plastic parts) engine clocked at 370.000 Km and still running like new, haven't changed a single plastic part, what's your point? leave engineering to the qualified people.

***** You see that's the problem I encounter whenever I talk to an american person about European cars, I'm sure what you're saying is right about the cars you get in the US, and I feel sorry for you, because 80% of the problems you have are very rare or non existent in the Euro spec, and again even if our opinions about petrol or diesel lifespans, I replied to your comment about plastic, and please the Mercedes you're talking about doesn't even exist, almost all diesel Mercs have Renault engines (you should be up to date with that). So what I'm saying is your ranking doesn't apply on Euro spec cars, and you can ask any mechanic, they will tell that petrol cars should last longer because they have a smaller compression ratio, less load and wear on parts... and less heat and stress that may affect the plastic parts, which my point in the first comment. Have a nice day :).
