wee error in your subtitles! @0:59 petrol not picture. Have you looked into AI solutions for generating subtitles? might reduce the workload and it is a very exciting space! (it's getting better and better over time, so if its a bit shite today, it probably won't be long before it's miles better.) Title also should be Etron? sorry for pointing stuff out lol, will edit and delete these parts of my comment in a bit, just an FYI I suppose.

Good job on putting subtitles, it makes your videos much more accesible for people who don't speak english as first language, it's a lot easier to understand

I've a Rav4 PHEV and I can switch between EV and self charging hybrid manually, I mainly use the EV below 100kph and use HV on motorways etc. I also have an auto switch that merges the EV and HV modes depending on driving style but I feel that uses more EV than HV so the battery is low when I need it around town so I use the manual switching instead.

Making good progress Bob have a A6 09 diesel and love it cruise all day at 80 mph doing 50 mpg whats not to like.

Beautiful car. Had one for a hire car one weekend. At first was disappointed because we have a Passat and I thought it would be the same drive but different body. This is every bit a proper Audi though, and the Hybrid system is brilliant. It's quite a nice sounding engine too. The Passat is dull as ditchwater. This isn't! 😊

great review Bob - and the voice is definitely getting there! On the whole PHEV thing…I bought the Opel Grandland X PHEV on your recommendation and I love it. You can get plenty on EV only tipping around the town, then throw it into Hybrid for longer journeys. After doing a good few longer journeys recently I’m still averaging 4.2l/100km. Mind you if you put it into Sport mode and use all 225bhp, that number would soon increase! What surprised me the most is the handling. It’s fantastic! So thanks for all the reviews… you always give great honest reviews! Keep up the good work.

Bob I'm so disappointed in you. You DO NOT run a PHEV until the battery is dead. You tiddle about town in EV mode then as soon as the speeds go up you turn on the ICE. The electric motor still works, helping the ICE to get better mpg. At least that's how my 8 year old BMW PHEV works. Please do better..... Edit - oops, I shot my load too soon. You think Audi is doing something new. Ummmmm no. BMW was there in 2016. The battery lasts about 200km doing this and still has a few miles pure EV at the end for the last few town miles home. Maybe you could look at the new X5 PHEV with 100km range? 😄

My question is, what ever happened to the BMW i3 REX concept? That on paper made a lot of sense to me. Save weight getting rid of the ICE transmission and reducing the size and complexity of the ICE engine. Meaning, why isn't the whole drivetrain electric and only use a tiny engine as a back up generator. Can the engine not generate enough power to recharge the battery fast enough? Just have this same car! Great for "evading" Switzerland's road tax system😅 Less than 25% battery and below -5°C it will directly start the petrol engine😊 But great for short comuting like i do.

The cupra/seat leon phev honestly gets about 45km range amd uses both electric and ice when you want it. Great fun to drive and honestly many trips to the school and shops are covered in the 45km range. Much like this audi, great fun to drive . NOW!!! What we need is 80 to 100km range for the perfect car. I am holding out for that as my next car. Battery tech is improving amd hopefully for the same weight we get 100km . Add fast charging and i will be in the queue to buy.😀

Do you know if this system is specific to Q5s? Or this is expected to be all over the Audi (maybe VAG) range?

Epic video Bob so love you work, I'm so glad you so on the road to recovery, and yes I do think the Germans are well ahead on this market and the cars are just great, I do think ev's should be able to go further on a full charge if they were capable of let's say 100 miles I think more people would swap over, but the only problem is there thirsty when run on petrol power alone, keep up the exceptional work Bob stay safe 👊👌

It is a smart motor, I like how they've allowed it to evolve in a subtle way, not overdesigned, just good quality.

Now that I saw your final thought, I drive a converted T6.1 so we do a lot of driving just to find random beautiful places without any previous planning. I don’t see EVs coming into my life anytime soon
