for frickin 100k or more. And then some marketing bot will suggest to "try leasing"... Where are the days we got to buy a car and own it... Chinese cars will be more and more popular soon with this aproach and then they'll blaim Chinese...
@@JohnyMcNealIf they become more popular (which they will) governments probably would step in and change the tax rates for those Chinese cars to stop people from buying them.
Why is the VW group still so obsessed with glossy black plastics? Most automakers cut back or stopped using it years ago, but VW continues to use it profusely even in its high-end cars. Seriously, it's a bad when the interior of a Peugeot e-3008/5008 feels nicer and more expensive than this...
Hmm...cannot see, why soft plastic is no plastic...everything in a modern car is plastic, whether soft or hard. This soft BS...just adds more energy in production. Have you ever seen and felt the heat in such a production?...adding a foam layer and a slush skin to the part? This is a nightmare of wasting material and energy. It adds about 15kg to a car...ok, this is already a heavy beast, but would make it even more fat. Everything you touch during drive must be soft...and this is all soft.
@@josefv-y8m You seem to have some comprehension issues huh? Key word is "glossy black plastic", no one is talking about soft plastic vs hard plastic... the gloss black bs is what most people hate as it looks extremely cheap (think about a 20K-30K MG4 or any cheap Chinese car) and it collects fingerprints/scratches like crazy and looks terrible very quickly. Not quite sure what you're yapping about to be honest...
Busy design language from the 00s/10s, with cheap materials throughout the interior. Especially looking at the center console and door pockets, just hard plastic. Crazy price for this product. Something only for the brand loyalists.
the crease on the rear quarter is very extreme, not sure I like it. Doesn’t matter anyway, 80-90k for a decent AWD spec is just crazy money for a mid-sized SUV
yeah I'm not liking the edgy Audis either. It pains to me that the Porsche Macan, despite being more expensive, is the one I'd prefer simply for not being edgy,
In my opinion, Audi has not understood its customers. The exterior design is a matter of taste, but I personally find it boring and gets lost in the mishmash. Audi used to design cars that looked high-tech. I don't find that here at all. The biggest step backwards is the cheap, uncomfortable and unsporty touch and slider operation. Here it becomes clear that Audi is only a shadow of its former self. I had hoped for the A6, but even Audi's own compact class offers a higher-quality control system. What a shame. The German manufacturers are deliberately destroying themselves and I can find no logical explanation for so little market feeling.

What a cheap interior. A lot of things are over complicated. There is no meed in two charger ports. Just extra wires and weight. No need in third screen, no need in glossy cockpit. All this effort should go into common sense and interior quality. Games in headup display. You kidding? How much money they spent to develop this useless stuff. What about improving efficiency of the car and UI of the menu?

It's supposed to be green to have recyclable materials. You are supposed to feel warm and fuzzy 'cause you are doing your part in saving the environment.
The center console looks like from a 20-30k euros chinese car, not from a 90k euro, what the hell, Audi? It looks and sounds CHEAP, I am sure it feels that way too.
Exterior looks good but damn, interior is bad, audi had very good classic design with screens and digital instruments now it looks cheap. Kia is more premium inside now
Correct. And this is probably one of the better examples of the model range. Audi's plastics on the base models are very cheap, and the press cars that get reviewed usually have expensive optional trims included.
hmm, my wife is interior engineer (developed for all german OEMs), and we test drove several Kias, Hyundais...she simply commented...when she would suggest the seen solutions for the interior, she would be killed by Audi. The interior is unbelievable bad at KIA!!!
Hi Thomas, would you still buy a diesel in the current market? Currently considering whether a turbodiesel from Mercedes is worth buying or has the market moved away from diesels for good?
@@autogefuehl Thank you for the reply. I am mostly interested in turbodiesel because I've been told Mercedes turbodiesels are durable than the petrols. True in your experience?
Audi's decisions are so awkward, design wise the car looks very generic and characterless, and the interior with dual screens, extra useless passenger screen, gloss black everywhere, haptic buttons, AC integrated only in the screen.. etc. I feel car makers' only goal now is to cut costs, like using hard plastics in the doors in a nearly 100k car - my 10 year old volvo had a soft touch door plastics, and using capacitive touch buttons. Remove the useless passenger screen, and the fancy lights with signature lighting nonsense and give us proper buttons and better quality interiors!
Love your videos, but very disappointed you only spent one minute on the infotainment. It’s brand new software that has significant impact on how you interact with the vehicle
Man this is so tough. With the Q6/SQ6 you get all the tech/range/charging advancements but with the current Q8/SQ8 you get more of the luxury feel and interior overall. I don't expect the Q6/SQ6 to be that much cheaper than the Q8/SQ8 (atleast in Canada) so you basically have to choose between updated tech or more luxurious quality.
Agreed. I have an earlier e-tron and noticed what felt like backward on downward steps in quality/luxury compared and also interior space. It does feel like it isn't possibly the no brainer replacement that some have been suggesting it would be vs the older q8/e-tron. It may be a case of if you can live with the lower range the older q8/e-tron is a better bet.
That interior is a complete trainwreck! Audi's reputation for oustanding interiors has just taken a huge hit. Definitely scratching the Q6 off the list.
yes, latest generation of Audi interiors are all so disappointing to me, both design-wise and in materials. So much glossy black plastic...even on their flagships.
Yes it was. Döllner said, "How can I possibly sell these priced so closely to the #$%&ing Porsche!" But that was all I could pick up. Personally, I think he's just chicken.
Great review, Thomas, thank you! I was so looking forward to this car, and now I'm left disappointed. You are actually the only reviewer who mentioned the tight backseat legroom space, which I appreciate! I predict this will be a flop. Similarly to Polestar 3 and 4, it took Audi way too long to bring it into production - deliveries will begin when, like end of the year?! There is loads and loads of good competitors for about half the price or less.. Moreover, looking at how other e-trons have been doing in terms of residual value after even less than a year, I gotta say you will have to be crazy to buy one new. Give it half a year and there will be second-hand Q6s with at least 42% off. Really, really annoys me! It is a testament to the fact that European car industry is going to s.ite.
It's almost like the one feature that Audi could do besides design and quality, the engine is no longer there. There's no reason ever to pick this over a Xpeng G9 for half the price, bigger, equal quality, same numb feeling. Audi driver here, but for the same reasons for the other EV offers I really don't care for this vehicle - there's zero passion about it, from cheap interior to and drivetrain nobody wants.
@@THjorth You summed it up nicely. Look up the incoming MG SUV, it's an EU sibling of some Chinese vehicle - but looks good. I'm about to buy my first premium German car and have my eyes set on a 8-month old X5 50e for about 100k EUR. That car can drive, and packs a punch when you need it. But I always liked Audi's. Sadly, outdated design language on their SUVs is a no go now. Mercedes is... Awful. But let's see, maybe we will take this in a year as a second car
It look like Budget car to me, same old same old design. Chinese EV cars able to throw in some massager, ambience lighting and a small drink cooler to make it look fancy! The last choice for me for an expensive EV car!
Audi is in a difficult position - they should be better than VW but not as good as Porsche. That is why I like BMW and Mercedes - they are trying to compete with both Audi and Porsche and on my personal taste they are somewhere between - better than Audi but still not Porsche.
I see a trend among the premium German car manufacturers, especially Audi and BMW, and increasingly other brands with their 2024 releases. There are a lot of cost-cutting measures in the interiors mainly. Cheap plastics, no ambient lighting in the back, cup holders without covers anymore, and so on. Apparently, we have to deal with it - paying much more but getting less of a premium feel. Hmm...
I wonder if Audi screwed something up with PPE platform with rear leg room being the way it is. A bit disappointed really. Was looking forward to switch from Enyaq to this, but now I'm hesitant.
How in 2024 are we still using animal hide? Humans have been conditioned to think leather is luxury. It's quite the opposite. There are wonderful fabrics out there which are far more luxurious and durable.
What an ugly front end … what’s the ground clearance? Looks like this will scrape bottom more than the Macan 4 will… the rear end looks much better than that of the Macan 4…
For this price, the car is a big chunk of plastic. If you look closer you will see that VAG is making all cheaper and cheaper. Even the way mesh on the back door looks, in previous passat B8 for example it had its own place and was going on the same level as entire pease of door. Now in B9 like here it stays on ugly on top of the window plastic. Same for camera on B9 vs B8 it is no longer hiddne below the logo (i cleaned on B8 camera once in 4 years), and the button for the baggage is below in the dirty area. Wonder how much money they saved on making these things worse.
With the Macan EV, you can at least add some extras in order to create a valuable, decent interior, like full leather pack incl upper doors; with the Q6, you are stuck with Audi‘s ugliness and outdated design language inside and out. And no rear wheel steering which adds a whole meter to the turnings circle: 12,1 vs 11,0 for the Macan.
Quite shocking that the Q6 has less rear legroom than even a Q4? Not sure the Q6 is worth EUR 15k premium over the Q4 despite the 800v architecture which does not seem that much more efficient than the 400v architecture on the Q4...
Basic trim looks crap, if you spec it up a little bit it gets almost same price as a Macan if not more expensive. Problem is that Macan looks dope even in its basic trim. Whos is actually buying this Audi?
audi interiors have really gone downhill ever since volkswagen bought porsche. same way that vw interiors are always made to be inferior to audi, audi interiors are always made to be inferior to porsche now
Looks like a big step down in quality when compared with the Q8 etron. Hard plastics everywhere and infotainment looks outdated. The biggest issue of all however is the rear leg room. The Polestar 4 and others have so much more leg room. This was going to be my next car, however this review is making me reconsider. Is the leg room in the q8 better?
I've been buying Audi's for the past 20 years, and may I ask WTF they are doing? This is a Q6 and the rear space is less than a Model Y! It's like double the price and doesn't do anything better! Can someone please explain to me why I should buy another Audi? I like the design but it cannot justify for the lacklustre value for money when compared to the Tesla. Please wake up Audi, and for that matter BMW, Mercedes, VW, etc...
I cannot get over it. This car looks so bad. What have they done to the cockpits. The dash whats going on with it. Audi what is happening. The porsche looks so much better than this.
As an Audi owner I see lots of cost cutting for the 2025 model year. I wonder if VW group is downgrading Audi to premium class and focusing its luxury resources on Porsche? I own a 2018 Q5 and 2021 A7 and both vehicles appear much more luxurious than the new '25 Audi lineup.
That plastic front grille is an eye sore and then there is the interior.... Audi had been the best designed cars since the late 90s IMO but not anymore. They have seriously lost the plot.
Mine will arice in KW35 and itll probably be a great car But man im so annoyed by it already. Cause it costs as much as a macan 4, but you CAN NOT option rear steer, and you can not combine ventilated seats with heated seats. The macan has both, and audi offers both in other cars. Also the color choices are so boring.
I love the new interiors but I'm failing to appreciate the new designs for the exteriors. Currently driving a 23 sq5 and was considering an s6 next - but might look for a 24 model year
Thanks again for the detail. What is encouraging is that Audi’s engineering excellence is shining through again. Less encouraging is the software is still not quite right even though the displays look very snazzy. In fact why do you need so much display space at all? The prices are absurd, and it is worth thinking quite hard about car price inflation since - say - 2017 when I last bought an Audi RS3 at around £43k new. It is not a comparable model, but even quite recently I could get a great ICE drive for under £45k. At some point price resistance is going to kick in. The VW part of the Audi/VW brand still has quite a lot left to do on price and performance to go up against BMW’s Mini and Mercedes’ Smart.
WTF? HUD video game using the steering brake and throttle. That sounds like a vehicular manslaughter waiting to happen. Come on folks. These are cars, not toys.
passenger screens are useless ! Point . final no use what's so ever and makes interior ugly even when option not chosen then it's a piano black thing so sorry ugly and useless stop its ASAP
When Peugeot has better screen technology than Audi, for half the price (single display in 3008 instead of two separate here)... The only "Premium" thing here remains the price - and future value loss ;)
Too much glossy interior plastics. A scratch and finger prints magnet, and look cheap. Too many cars are doing this. Lazy, cost cutting and so uninovative. Great video as always.
A cheaper alternative to the Macan EV but nowhere near as good in terms of styling, technology, performance or prestige. Audi should’ve done better like they did with the e-tron GT.
Technology is the very same... the PPE...prestige...if you are willing to spent 30% more...go ahead and buy a porsche. Seems marketing of porsche has made a good job to convince a lot of people to spent more money then needed to get similar quality and product.
@@josefv-y8m yes there’s a premium for the Macan EV because of the brand but also because it’s overall a better quality of product. Sharing the PPE platform doesn’t mean all of their technology is the very same. Do your own research and you’ll understand the differences in their technology.
All those shiny plastics in combination with the rectangular screen in way bigger housing make the car look so cheap. Really hope the new A5 will be better in terms of materials.
