What a helpful and well produced video. I'm definitely going to get this important and relatively inexpensive bit of preventative maintenance done next time I get the oil changed. Thank you.
You're a legend , I'm dreading those bolts next to the gearbox but I suppose I'll have to do it haha. I've worked in mechanics for about 7 years I just keep putting this job off I don't know what it is . Just those awkward bolts. I know full well I will end up stripping it 😂
Love your videos man. Attempting this soon. Do I require new gasket for turbo oil return pipe? How soon after completion should I wait to start car and drive? Appreciate old video, so not expecting a quick reply! Christian
Hi I know your the man that could help me diagnose what’s wrong with my mk1 Tt 225 ,wen cold it runs perfect for only 3-4 mile then oil sign comes on dash then the top end ticks loudly I ignored it and kept boosting it until it smoked badly wen I did pull over it literally puddled oil badly directly under sump and cats were smoking and dripping oil thing is wen it’s cold it still runs perfectly for 3-4 mile could you please help me pin point 1 the reason it’s clearly starving the head of oil wen up to temp and the possible reason it’s leaking all it’s oil out wen turned off
Top shelf! Thanks heaps for all of your uploads. I have a stripped sump plug bolt. I’m wondering if it can be tapped to a larger size sump bolt. Have you ever seen it done that way? Otherwise I’ll have to take the sump off and maybe have it welded and re-tapped. These TT are very rare here in Australia so I don’t like my chances finding a good secondhand sump.
What's the best way to clean the sump and pick up pipe? I watched one RU-vid video, where the guy said he was going to wash it with gasoline. Also, is there a gasket for the pick up pipe?
Brilliant, great Job Lad..! Gotta do mine asap A3 1.8T Just got the Dreaded Alarm and Flashing Oil Sign on Dash..! How much were Your bits, i.e, Sealer and Pick-up..? Thanx...
Nice. interested as maybe buying a low mileage one myself. I’ve read that subframe needs to be dropped. Did you have to do that ? Also is it advisable to do the pump too?
CL Vision the subframe is not in the way at all, just the plastic undertray. The oil pump is only a few extra bolts while you are in there but if its low mileage i doubt it will be needed
BWS TT cheers. In other videos sub frame seems to be present. Is there a difference in Quattro / non Quattro models ? Also can I ask if you run your own garage or do work for others ? Also when you say if it’s low mileage doubt it will need doing do you mean pump or pick up or both.... it’s around 60k full Audi history,
Mate, those awkward bolts by the gearbox.. You are completely using the wrong tool. You need a 5mm ball hex long allen bit. With that, it's literally a piece of piss.
wizkid01 thats another valid option- but as you can see in the video using one hand on the camera and one hand for the tool i still managed each one with 1 attempt, because thats the way im used to doing it
