Massively underrated!

Having owned a VR6 TT in 2009 and driven earlier TTRS's on Audi Drive days, I think this car is a great all round performance car. The motoring media all comment on nose heavy handling but in daily driving it's not an issue. It gives you peace of mind on fast drives on twisty bits knowing that the rear end is unlikely to break away. It and an RS3 both saved my bacon on their ability to pull you out of an oversteer situation on country roads where wet patches were hiding under overhanging trees. Good review.

This is the best TTRS review on RU-vid. Props

I own the sister car a 2019 RS3. It is a terrific car better than my 718 Spyder.

I had 5 Porsches the latest was the new 911 992 S but I changed cars due to a crash and speeding tickets. I needed something cheaper to insure and slower. I got a new TT 45 sport Edition with technology pack and 19 inch rims 250 BHP. Great little car 5.2 seconds 0-60 mph and now that it’s no longer produced it’s a great little car.

Yeah they're great. Ive tuned mine to stage 2 and wow the torque from a dead stop, its so quick for a runabout.

Was the redesign only last year for you guys down under? The Mk3 facelift was here in the US in 2019 (that’s my model year). p.s. Awesome… awesome car though. Mine is modified, the cars lend themselves very well to that. I’ve got an upgraded ECU from APR, stiffened rear sway bar, lowering springs, thicker tires (18” wheels), wider wheels (21lb forged) and importantly upgraded front/rear brakes and sport pads. The handling/steering is further improved with rear subframe inserts and some dogbone mounts are there to reduce slop in the drivetrain (which OEM puts there for comfort). All of this means that the car is EXTREMELY responsive and handles beautifully in corners and pulls away confidently in turns with very little under steer (compared to stock). Add to that the massive stopping power from the upgraded 034 rotors (front and back) and you have the confidence to really use the horsepower. The OEM brakes suffered from some fade and warping when they got hot after just one “spirited” driving session, especially in hilly areas here in the mountains where I live.

Current TTRS series was here in Australia in 2017. I think the guy is talking about minor cosmetic updates

“Dropping the rear seats doesn’t give you any more sound.” It does on mine! But not as much as you might expect.

Love the review Scott! I wonder if the new RS3 will get close to that 3.57sec 0-100 time, or will it be too heavy?

@@MrTroytroy How wrong were you. New RS3 hitting 60 in 3.3 with some reviewers and it's more agile than the TTRS. I know, as I owned one and now have the new RS3, much better car to drive than the ageing TTRS.

@@mauricetoussaint7283 yep I concede - the rear diff (and extra torque) certainly made up for the weight. I thought the G20 M3 would be similar but it hides it’s weight very well! My best time in the FL RS3 is 3.29secs and late 10’s, and 100-200 in 7.04secs (yay for cracked ECU’s!)

I heard that the firing order for the TT RS is 1-2-4-5-3 which is why it sounds like the R8.

Definitely a sweet car ! But way overpriced. I can have two Golf R for that price. I already have one a 2016 Golf R complete stage 1 and the car absolutely rips

Who is still using the term Hairdressers Car in 2021?
@jaimeb3587
@jaimeb3587 2 года назад
The term has been always used by BMW fanboys who can't stand the fact that Audis are better cars in terms of luxury and performance than their sedans. Fact: BMW Z4 is the pussiest car ever made, but they just don't talk about it 😂🤣😂🤣

Heteronormative hairdresser slight aside (not ok I’m afraid) we should be celebrating this car’s existence especially as it’s a dying species and we are worse off without fun sporty coupes no matter the stereotypes - oh maybe it’s these very stereotypes that have ended this market especially at the affordable end except for BRZ/GR86 :(

What could have been if Audi would have turned that engine 90 degrees. Fast in a straight line, but not enjoyable in a corner. Can only take a Golf chasis so far. Very over priced

And the problem with the M2 is the RS3 exists. (Unless you’re a professional racing driver)
@jaimeb3587

Well there are a few videos on youtube showing the TTRS (stock and modified version) racing the M2 and guess who won in every race? Of course, the TT RS you fan boy... Here is a good example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3W4bS2nVlYM.html

The M2 has a number of problems. Firstly is the fake engine noise. M2, M3, M4 all sound.... crap inside and farty outside. The other truth is that although so many people harp on about rear wheel drive, how many people can safely exploit it on the public roads? Don't get me wrong, I drive a C63 (W205) and like the thought of balancing the car on the throttle, but in the real word - on a public road, something like the TTRS makes loads of sense (especially in non sunny climates).

@@MrTroytroy TTRS is faster than the RS3, so still the problem with the M2 is that the TTRS exist lol!
