I own an 2011 Audi Q5 and the check engine light came on with error code P0299. I cleared the code, but it returned. I ignored it for over year because initially there weren’t notable performance issues, but that changed on a recent road trip. Power was suddenly sluggish, slow to accelerate from a stop, and gutless going up hills. I assumed it was the turbo wastegate because I could feel the actuator rod had play. I was expecting to replace the entire turbo when I found this tool and decided to try it. I was skeptical, but it seemed worth a try. When the tool arrived the fix only took a few minutes and tightened the actuator rod up nicely. I took it for a test drive and full power was restored instantly, I’m impressed with this simple solution. I’ll report back if the issue returns, but if this comment stays up, you can assume the fix is still working.

Although the proper way is to sell a new turbo. I love it, the most technological ghetto fix there is. Outstanding job. Going to look into buying one should pay itself off in the first job.

I was living with P0299 on 2014 A5 for 2 years. In my case, performance seemed unaffected but I was constantly having to reset the CEL. Also, passing smog took me 3 or 4 tries in California and required that I drove very slowly (minimal boost) for a month so that the code cleared. The tool itself is very heavy and clearly well made. The work took me about 30min and I accessed the rod from below after removing the bottom panel just below the motor. The results are great. The rod now has zero play and the car does feel faster particularly at lower RPMs. After 30 min of hard driving the CEL has not returned. Similar driving prior to the fix always resulted in the CEL coming on. I am very happy with the results.

I purchased the tool and used it on 2012 VW tiguan. P0299 code disappeared, vehicle drives perfect, no hesitation or lag in acceleration. Job literally took 10 minutes to complete. Highly recommended for any diyer or qualified technician/mechanic to invest in this tool. Save between $1757 - $2068 based on average cost of labor and parts based on repairpal estimator.

I've been living with an intermittent P0299 turbo underboost check engine code for a few years on my 2010 VW Tiguan 2.0 TSI. The code has been very annoying, especially when trying to smog the car in California. Now that I'm selling the car I needed to address the code for as cheaply as possible. I rented the TurboBend tool and just used it last night. Wow, what an awesome invention - how is this not getting more attention? For the Tiguan you just need to remove the turbo support bracket which is 3 bolts (the upper one needs a 6mm hex tool and was a chore to get off, just be careful not to strip the head), and then you have plenty of access from underneath to insert the turbo bend tool head, pump the actuator several times, and BAM the wastegate linkage is all tightened up. I did a test drive and floored it uphill and felt a huge difference. Too early to tell if it cleared the P0299 code for good but things are looking up! I just wish I had done this sooner so I could have enjoyed the restored performance before selling. Thanks Turbo Bend 👍

That tool saved me a lot of time and headaches. Fantastic engineered tool, I just had to remove the cover under my A4 2012 B8 and in 5 min I was done. Went for a test drive, big difference and no more P0299 code.

@@maximaxi41hey bro when you used the tool did the waste gate rod fully bend or only slight angle? Mine did not bend like a perfect V shape in the video and I'm worried I didn't get it properly secured

@@tubbycustard8866 It created a decent V-Shape, not as perfect as the video, but close enough. Such a big difference after, I went for a drive and could feel all the power again.

Ordered one 2 weeks ago, received it this week and completed the adjustment on a 2011 Q5 with 198,000 miles in less than 30 minutes. Acceleration is much better! It isn't a new Turbo, but it is also about 1/12 the cost if having a new turbo installed which I was not about to do on a car with 198,000 miles. I had to access the waste gate actuator rod from under the vehicle as there was insufficient clearance for the tool head from above. Easy fix and worth the price. I think they will rent the tool as well.

Silly. People will be out here with a boost leak trying to bend their wastegate actuator. Not to mention… this doesn’t fix the failure. Just a bandaid. Gonna have people who shouldn’t be doing their own work thinking they can fix this.
@user-cd8mu1kc7b
@user-cd8mu1kc7b 11 месяцев назад
Hello their , in fact this is a total fix NOT a bandage and here is why: Most of the new turbo come with a length adjustable mechanism on their actuator rod. Even Audi start to add this mechanism in some of their new turbo. The mechanism consists of a threaded ended rod with a nut on the wastegate flapper arm and a jam nut. It is a standard on most of all kind of turbos. Audi failed to add this option to their 2.0 TSI turbo and we came up with this turbobend idea to do the job. It is unwise to replace a whole turbo for a very small tiny adjustment that should be available for customers. Our tool simply just do the job and cover for this missing component Thanks for your comment Turbobend team
@E36mitchell
@E36mitchell 11 месяцев назад
Oh this fixes the metal bushing that’s wearing out and continuing to wear? No it bends the rod to make up for worn component.
@user-cd8mu1kc7b
@user-cd8mu1kc7b 11 месяцев назад
We don’t change break pads every week although they start to wear after the first use. They have life time. Same thing for this bushing. The main purpose of the bushing is a passage to the flapper to be connected with the wastegate. As long as there is enough meat on the bushing it will work just fine. The main issue is where the wastegate is not closed and leaking exhaust gases and not building enough pressure to charge the cylinders with extra volume of air to boost the power. Our tool simply fix this issue and for good. Expect to boost the life of the turbo for another 80 K miles after using our tool. Thanks
