This video is for fixing your P0299 code (low boost) on most Audis with a 2.0T, like A4, A5, and Q5. You'll need a torch that you can get from a hardware store, and some basic tools like a phillips screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, 15mm sockets both short and deep, a 15mm wrench, 13mm wrench, rachet with a Torx T25 bit, hammer, extended needle nose, and small pliers.

i heard you can just put a clip on the wastegate arm and itll fix the loose gate issue

Hi, i can feel there's no play in the rod from the actuator at all. But there's still a chance that the wastegate flapper is loose? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I found out a clogged catalytic converter can cause that code to come up. I installed a ECStuning HFC and the light and code disappeared, also need a stage two tune. I have a video on that.

hey did you get any over boost pressure after doing that
@latenightgarage7895
@latenightgarage7895 2 года назад
So before I did this I would get the p0299 code all the time when I tried to go full throttle. After completing this I no longer get the code and my check engine light doesn't come on, plus it has a good pull while shifting or getting up to speed.

So it can be done without removing the turbo. Perfect. Every other video pulled the turbo. I’m trying to not do that.

I found it easy this way just make sure you heat it up good and have a heavy hammer, mine was light and took longer to move the metal

Did you have any noticeable rattle from your wastegate when you were decelerating? I have p0299 pop up very occasionally, and I’m certain it’s the wastegate, and I’m not sure if this would be a fix for me?

Found out it was a clogged catalytic converter, so I bout a ecs tuing HFC and it's all good, no codes

Did you have any other symtoms? I have an Audi A4 AVANT 2.0 TDI 190 hp that has this warning coming up about system fault and it goes into limpmode. After restart the warning is gone and the car acts like it should for about 2 weeks before it throws the warning again. Faultcode P029900 turbo underboost. Audi stated that they found a faulty boost pressure sensor and replaced it but three days after the warning returned....getting sick of this

Could be a clogged catalytic converter, I swapped to ECS Tuning FHC. A while after this video, the code showed up, so I went to a mechanic, and they pointed out that the O2 sensor before the catalytic converter was hotter than it should be. So I swapped out the cat and haven't had the boost code again.

Hi there! Thanks for the video. I'm also curious how this is holding up after a year? My car just threw this code and I've confirmed theres some play in the rod. This seems like the easiest fix with the turbo still in the car..
@latenightgarage7895
@latenightgarage7895 Год назад
Depending on how much play it has, could be a worn bracket or bushing.

@@latenightgarage7895 Is this repair still holding up nicely on your car after 1 year?
@latenightgarage7895

So after that video, I noticed it held boost a lot better. I called the audi dealership and found out that the trubo was replaced with a new one around 60k miles. It was still throwing the P0299 code, and come to find out that it was a clogged catalytic converter. It wasn't letting exhaust pass fast enough, so it was making the top 02 sensor hot, and that's how we found out on a vagcom using live feed. So that might be another thing to check before you do this. I have a video on the ECStuning High Flow Catalytic converter, with installation and review.

@@latenightgarage7895 thanks for the update and the tip on checking the cat! Got almost 150k on the car so definitely could be a clogged cat

If this don't work look into vacuum leaks, sensors, and if non of those then try to get a vagcom hooked up and ask to see the front o2 sensor temp of it running hotter than usual, leads to a clogged stick catalytic converter that might be it. That's what turned out to be my problem. I have a video installing a ECStuning high flow catalytic converter and fixed the boost problem.

Just not understanding how a loose wastegate got tightened by just heating it up
10 дней назад
He didn't show the one thing the whole point of the video was for. He held the wastegate open by its rod, then heated it up and slightly bent the internal arm that holds the waste gate flapper or door. It compensates for the sloppy, worn out arm and rod pivots, and holds wastegate door tighter against opening, preventing boost leak, preventing the under boost dtc code from appearing.
