I presented with suicidal thoughts and severe depression last year. It took a month before I actually heard back from the doctor and that was only because my therapist chased up my case. It's a joke across services. Using covid and Brexit etc as an excuse is disingenuous. Lack of funding and privatizing has been going on for a lot longer.

The NHS needs to employ all staff directly. The list of staff coming via agency is growing and costing 3 times the cost of directly employed staff. It is a lie that agencies help. They are leaches and suck the very money out of the NHS that is put into it.

But when it comes to funding wars Britain has enough money. 😢

My GP is in and largely covers a very wealthy posh part of the city - the service is gold standard, same day appt's, I get chased up if my asthma review is late - the destruction of the NHS is precisely targeted on the poorest

My wife had a heart attack last Wednesday. I got her to casualty, got her in a chair. My daughter is pleading with the reception to get her seen in a packed waiting room. Her lips were blue and she was slumping forward in the chair. I was terrified I was going to lose her there un the waiting room. Thankfully in what seemed like a lifetime she was seen and treated. It shouldn't be like that.

Even the terminally ill cannot get pallative care, elderly are not being offered cancer treatments anymore, just handed get liquid morphine and no visits from a nurse in a month as they too busy, disgusting.

Sorry, but the woman with cancer was clear that she didn’t feel laughed at as you are reporting. Based on her comments, a more reasonable interpretation would be she felt the laughter was a shared reaction at the horrible state of NHS service. Please do better!

My 88 year old Dad was taken to Blackburn A&E one morning in January 2023. He was there, on a trolley, for over 23 hours before he was admitted to an assessment ward and admitted!

The biggest budget for the NHS, they receive more money now than ever before, but do they, many sections within the health service is already in the hand of privet supplier’s, it cost more for a privet contract to do the same work that was always done by the actual NHS, so much of the biggest budget ever, goes into privet hands, but it’s counted as NHS costs, the actual NHS is on a much smaller budget in reality.

I work in a hospital as a medical registrar and there are just as many managers as there are doctors. That in itself means something is very wrong.

I have a foot injury I have been waiting a year and three months so far for, I am awaiting an autism appointment which has an approx waiting time of 3 years in my area and now I have developed a chronic lung issue and the waiting time for that is 5 months to a year. They wonder why people can't work?! They can't get any health issues fixed.

I have a history of depression and 2 years ago my GP signed me off telling me work would make me worse but I would have to wait 2 years to see a specialist. 3 months later my work called me and told me I'd be down to half pay if I didn't go back to work which I couldn't afford so I went back and I have barely been hanging on the whole time and now my GP has said the specialist I was supposed to see has left and It'll be another year before I get seen. Mental health provision in the UK is a joke.

I now live in Latvia having BRexited myself in 2016. I needed an operation a little while ago but it would have to be paid for here. I went to the normal public hospital for an appointment and was asked, "Why not go back and get it done in the UK?" I explained about the horrendous waiting lists and some 6 weeks later I had the op. Soon after, I bumped into a Brit woman in the supermarket, we got chatting briefly and she told me she was over for an op because she didn't want to wait. But, hey, we didn't suffer from Covid at all in Latvia, so the health services here could cope... Oh, wait, we did have Covid.

Privatizing public services is never wise: 1. Profit always makes service a poor second 2. Making a profit adds to service costs and is lost to the system 3. Privatization drives down wages to maximize profit, resulting in either poor staff and, especially in the case of the NHS, vast staff shortages 4. Staff shortage increase stress on remaining staff, inevitable losing more staff

The Tory cuts is what's going on I was a nurse from 1990 until, 2013 I and although tories cut students burseriesc affecting training pupil, nuses w orked alongside registered nurses. And what on the 90 were called auxillaries we had to often work late do bank shifts it was hard and at times we had to use agencies we were short staffed even then but we always had beds , a me a system that worked it all,went wrong when trusts and academies were introduced under hunt he turned it into a business run by tort chums as ceos suppliers of equipment dressings etc and influx of managers and it all started going downhill, the NHS is not a business it is a service for the British people paid for by the people these Tories have fooled the British public with Thier incessant greed for long enough tories out I loved nursing and my patients came first it's sad to see it's decline under these greedy spivs

I recently had mastectomie in The Netherlands. Between finding cancer and breast operation were FOUR working days, not 4 months.

Phoned doctor at 1030 and got an appointment at 1610 same day - thank you NHS Scotland- not managed by Tories or Labour. My wife also had her cancer treatment started within 8 days from diagnosis and consultation

Do people still doubt, the sheer contempt the political class has for the rest of us? It's not mere greed, incompetence, or apathy. Things couldn't have gotten this bad if it was merely that. Streeting cut the weasel words you don't need to increase NI on the workers. How much tax did the tech companies pay in the UK last year? Google, Facebook etc??? I got diognosed with prostate cancer,got the timescale for my treatment,when it overran I questioned why and was told that was the government target that was never met, but I see a guy called Charles diagnosed after me sorted before I’d even been seen

For as long as we have a two tier system (private and NHS) this issue will get worse. Private clinics (mostly American) are actively headhunting good doctors and consultants at the expense of the NHS. And more people have been left with no alternative but pay for private treatment in order to get life saving treatment. The only solution is to have one system and give our NHS all the support it needs without having to rely on handouts from Governments that have no interest in it. And another thing, put our NHS on a written constitution to guard it against corrupt governments such as the one we've had over the last 14 years!

In my own country Italy taxes are higher than in the UK and for most medical appointments you have to pay a ticket based on your income, yet the waiting lists are infinite and the health system is falling apart anyway, so I don’t think it’s a question of money. Despite Brexit and economic crisis, UK remains one of the richest countries in the world. In my opinion, the wealth is simply flowing in the wrong hands. Regarding NHS, there are big interests at stake. Not to mention poor management and often corruption on the top of the pyramid. These trusts are basically corporations and work as such. People on the top are putting their own interests and thirst for power first not giving a single shit about people in need. You can see it from their face, it’s disgusting.

The NHS has had no leadership. No one builds a house without an architect and expects it to stand for a hundred years- the same applies because the NHS has no overall architect or leadership- and what it does have in its separate departments is often not medically trained with ward experience.
