I enjoyed the sound design a lot from both of those games. I appreciate you interviewing all these different composers/sound designers, and it's always interesting to hear your take during the conversations. I still feel like not enough discussion goes on about games' music and sound design aside from "it's good" or "it's bad". I do have a somewhat off-topic question, Austin: when it comes to playing games, do you like to use headphones or a home theater system? What do you recommend? I've always liked using a 5.1 or beyond system, but I am always curious about "creative intent" and whether headphones are preferable. I know many developers try to create sound to fit all different types of setups, but I'm still curious.
Good question! I actually play 90% of my games on a gaming PC in my studio and use my headphones here. I alternate between my Sony MDR 7506's and my Sennhesier HD600's .
I just played Plague Tale: Requiem, so this is perfect timing. This game had me weeping at the end, I couldn't believe how much it affected me. It will be an experience I won't forget. The "Brother" music is especially amazing, makes me emotional and gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it, lol.
