I spent a good 2 or 3 hours mapping my Studiolive CS18Ai to all of my VST plug ins the other day and its something Ive wanted to do for some time now.. but now Ive got full control of Autotune Pro, Waves Plugins like Triple D as well as all my favorite presonus plugins.. I wish that the CS18Ai had the same amazing looking big screen for EQ and compression and gating that the larger consoles have.. The small screen on the CS18Ai seems to really only allow you to use those sorts of tools while using the mixer for live audio mixing.. but I cant seem to get that sort of functionality out of the CS18Ai while its in DAW mode.. I've been really eager to pull the trigger on a 32 channel studio live mixer for some time though so I'll definitely be doing that very soon.
Thank you Joe. I use the SL32R so this info is great for me. I love the detail you address in your video. Where can I find information on "The Rest of the Story"? The part where you can toggle Printing the mixer's Fatchannel to your S1 track is awesome but does the signal also return to the mixer where if I chose to place a plugin on the track will that show up in the mixer as well? So, Can I do additional processing using Studio One to my mixer and come out my main mixer outputs?
Thanks for great info. I'm having an issue where I'm using a studio 192 interface with studio one 5. That same feature was working flawlessly before and now it's not picking up. Meaning, the box is checked and the words are in gray. I can't seem to connect or activate. What can I do?
Im using a Presonus Quantum, a 2626 to be exact, with SO, but when I open that settings menu, Audio Device Controls is grey, as in not active. What does this mean? Does this mean the 2626 doesnt have any functions to control? (I totally love the simplistic nature of the 2626!) Or do I have to do something to make this option active?
My audio devices control is also checked but greyed out. Since the latest Universal Control update a few days ago. Hopefully someone can post a solution. It worked before the update.
0:40 My "Audio device control" is already ticked but also greyed out so I can't change it ? I have a Presonus STUDIO6|8 audio interface ! Am I missing something here ?
I'm just getting into deciphering all this. I've got a new PC and Quantum 2632 combination. The manual goes on about MIDI control of devices but I'm not seeing the Quantum controls in the S1 mixer when I Tick 'Audio device controls'. I must have missed some setting somewhere but so far, i can't find it.
Oh ! Wait !! It's there on channels 3 through 8 but not on Channels 1 & 2 (in any Mode) Confusing ... -10dB remore switching works but not Gain Control on 1 or 2 ... I feel a session with Customer Support coming on. And very fine chaps they are too ...
I had to RTFM dammit !! We get Gain Control on Instrument and Mic Modes for Channels 1 & 2, but for line level, Channels 1 to 8, there's just -10dB & +4dB sensitivity switching. There was me looking for line level gain control from within Studio One. Not the end of the world, but my previous Presonus interface had Gain Control knobs that operated on all inputs Mic, Line or Instrument and that had me looking for the same on this Quantum.
Good to know. I have the SL32 Series 3. I tried to follow along with you in one of my songs and found that my AUDIO DEVICE CONTROLS button was greyed out and unusable. Why would that be?
Joe! Here’s my BIG BIG question for this topic of discussion. I have the Quantum 2626 + a bunch of other interfaces as part of an aggregate system. But from what I have learned, the. 2626 has no onboard DSP. But when I am in Studio One (Pro5) I do have what looks like device or maybe I think it is actually called input control - I’m not in front of my system so don’t recall exactly) at the top of each channel strip on the mix side which also is appearing in the same fashion for all of the other channel strips associating with the inputs from their respective audio devices. Now, is this doing the same thing as what you are demonstrating here? I don’t believe that there is any two-way communication going on with any of my devices using this functionality. If I adjust the gain settings on my Q2626 nothing happens on the gain setting at the top of the channel strip on the studio one daw mixer channel strip but I can hear that I have turned up the gain level, just as when I turn up the gain values on the channel strips in the daw, I hear gain being applied but there is no indication that anything is physically happening on the Q2626. (Same for all of my “other” interfaces). What’s the deal here? Is that just a daw setting that is using the gain envelope in studio one somehow in the background? I don’t remember seeing anything in the track showing that the gain envelope is being altered any which way. Please explain. I’m also going to have to look now as to whether there is any fat channel control on the DAW channel strip now. I don’t think I saw that functionality. Thanks Joe
