In other words, he suggested that a goodhusband would never step out on his wife. And if he thought that of ROBERT? Then NED most ASSUREDLY thought that way of himself. After all, what is a Stark Man without HONOR? And Ned held "Honor" above all else. This was a foreshadowing. To let the reader know that Ned would NEVER have cheated on Catelyn. It wouldnt have mattered how .... aroused ... he was. Or how lonely. Ned wouldnt break his vows. So when we learned of Jons true parentage, it certainly made more sense than the story that Jon was Neds kid. We shouldve known all along, tbh. And so should have Catelyn. She knew her husband better than anyone. She should have saw that he was careful with his words and probably never even said, "This is my Son". He probably just said "He is my blood" - like hee told Catelyn that one night when se dared ask about the mother. That shouldve clicked in her brain and she shouldve realized in that moment that something else was up - and whatever it was didnt matter. She trusted her husband. And loved him. And shouldve loved Jon BECAUSE her husband loved him. Ive been married 13 years. If aomeone brought us a baby and said it was my husbands, even if that was true, i would still live the baby. If i was going to be amgry at anyone, it would be my Husband. Not an innocent child. And that child would become mine. And i would raise it as my own. Catelyn was immature and silly. But she IS essentially a "grown up" Sansa. And she has fluff and stuffing in her head - no real clear thoughts going on up there.
