@@paulcookphotography Looked like they slightly were. You'll know to go a week earlier next year. It was still nice to see all the blooms. The Rhododendron maximum blooms were much better than the Pink Catawba Rhodos I chased earlier this year.

BUT I'm learning how to be out in the woods and loving every minute of it! I felt better this time around with the proper footwear and bear and tick spray handy. Glad you enjoyed it! Hi Paul, some wonderful images there. What a lovely park you have there. That boardwalk with the overhanging rock was impressive. As you said Scotland has some of the oldest mountains in the world so when I go to Scotland on holiday I can imagine I'm in West Virginia! The only real difference I can see between West Virginia and Scotland is that. I think we have more trees here, it's heavily forested everywhere you go. But I think the mountains in Scotland look a lot better in the winter time without the dead, barren trees that we have here. It's hard to top either place though! I was there long enough to say a few things to camera and take a couple shots and get out of there 😂 but it's definitely a beautiful park. Yeah, it's crazy to me that the continents were all pushed together like that z and if the earth makes it that far (doubtful at this point), that it'll happen in again in a few hundred million years. Glad you liked those path shots at the end. The pink flowers were rhododendrons, which is West Virginia's state flower. It's the first time I've seen them in bloom. Great to see you back out and exploring your new home Paul. Whilst the shot at 4:10 was probably my favourite, it's clear that there is so much potential there. I don't know which way the sun rises or sets but I can picture the boardwalk at golden hour with the low sun illuminating all the rock and the river and trees down below. I got flashbacks to being a kid and burning the back of my legs whilst wearing short trousers in the summer on one of those metal slides. I tried to take JoAnna a few days after filming this but it was raining so hard that some of the roads on the way started to flood, so we turned back around. Great to follow you as you explore the Park Paul ! An. interesting route from the bridge and the rapids up through the old swings which remind me so much of my time spent around 4-9 down at our local park and then off to Scotland ha ha ! Stunning walkway views both looking across the structure, into the caves and down over the rapids. Looks like you had a cracking time and good to see the boots, bear spray and tick repellent this time !! Thanks for watching Andrew! Definitely some diverse parts of that park from the river to the old playground to the boardwalk. I had a great time exploring it! I think my favorite part was the metal playground, you just don't see that much over here any longer.It gave me the chance to do a different kind of photography that I really enjoy as well! Another thing I'm enjoying is being able to explore longer. It gets pretty warm here but it's always about 20° cooler than what Florida is, and the humidity is quite a bit less. I'm also enjoying the extra time I get to photograph things before the light gets harsh. It takes longer for the sun to come up over the hills and mountains, unlike Florida where as soon as it breaks the horizon you're done. I'm glad you're enjoying falling long, I'll be having another one coming soon as Joanna and I are of for an adventure this weekend! Hope you're doing well over there mate. Have a wonderful week. Absolute 'Temple Of Doom' vibes from that boardwalk mate and that swing set made me think of some apocolyptic movie scene.We still have metal playgrounds over here - burnt backsides and pinched skin is a right of passage haha. Wonder who would be anchoring their boat to that ring back in the day?...older than the trees and then some! Epic spot mate, some great shots and really cool vid to follow you about.
Temple of Doom 😂 Yes! These poor kids nowadays over here would never survive what we had as kids. On top of the scalding hot metal, our metal slides were so much faster! Broken bones at the bottom were always a possibility aside from the 3rd degree burns. Definitely a fantastic park, Only about 40 minutes away. You must be loving your new location Paul. Interesting what you said about Scotland, I definitely see similarities with the landscape here in the UK. We don't need to worry about the bears though! Best to be prepared for the ticks - it's not that bad in just places here, but we definitely had to watch out for them in Germany. Loved the images, especially 4:12 and the one of the slide. The ones at the end are really nice too. 👍
Thanks for watching Robert! Yeah we are absolutely loving being here in West Virginia for a lot of different reasons. The temperature at any given point is about 20 degrees cooler than Florida, the obvious natural landscape, the cost of living is a lot cheaper, and the people are much friendlier. I'm also enjoying the old architecture. There are a lot of derelict structures and abandoned buildings, It makes for some wonderful photography. Glad you enjoy the video and the images! I was just thinking about you and what an a-hoke I've been for not keeping in contact - good to know you've been too busy as well 😂 Yeah, that was a beauty of a park, lots of diversity in what to photograph. That spooky old playground was fun! Yeah, I had to tick spray, I was covered head to toe in it. I don't leave home without it nowadays, no way I'm going through that again! Glad you enjoyed it mate. Have you gone to Swallow Falls in Maryland? It’s amazing. You can hike along the water or access the falls close the parking lot. You look like you live pretty close to where I do. Looking forward to coming across you sometime while you are taking pictures.

Great video Paul and definitely one of the parks I've not visited. So, did I understand you correctly that you finally made the move to WV? If so, I would recommend signing up for a workshop with a photographer named Randall Sanger. His workshops will give you some great locations to start your own workshops if that is something you are interested in.
