Pure gold this series....loved it growing up in the 1980s. Best comedy/drama ever produced, and it polarized Thatchers Britians and the struggles of the average working class man with humor and charm......great times
Sadly missing Wayne here..one of the many scenes they had to make a excuse for him not being there as garry holton had died before he could film this....really sad for the other actors
donnn 0666 yeah, they’d filmed all the location scenes but not the studio stuff. Looking back, it’s so sad that they had to write reasons into the script for Wayne not being in a these scenes. Wasn’t obvious at the time, I just assumed it was part of the storyline.
@@jen6879 it was in spain where it got a bit noticeable because he was in none of the studio scenes at all in spain in the second half of the show. He was also missing from a few scenes from one episode just before they go to spain. Like this episode. The only studio scene Wayne is shown in spain is the casino scene where bomber lifts Wayne up and carry him out. Of course that was not actor garry Holton and they used a body double.
They've started to replay these on Yesterday, on the tele. This one was on about a month ago, I couldn't believe I hadn't seen it. Laughed out loud at this bit and I never do that. Ta
When you watch this then watch Spender it's almost impossible to believe it's the same Jimmy Nail, there's virtually no resemblance, and Nail looked way younger in Spender than he did in this despite it being years later
